NEW REPLACEMENT RST40 MODEL GEAR AND
PINION KITS RELEASED

Affected Models: All RST40, RST41
Dana has released 14 new RST40 Gear and Pinion service kits that no longer contain the inner pinion
bearing 129562. The bearings used in these models have changed and bearings must be used in sets
as described in Dana bulletin HAXL-PNI-33. With that change, the current gear set kits with the 129562
design bearing cone are being discontinued and superseded to new kits less this inner bearing cone.
• The New Gear and Pinion kits will not include the inner pinion bearing cone.
• Information sheet SHAIS163 that is included in old and new kits for these models explains in
detail the “original” design change to the pinions.
• The inclusion of the inner pinion bearing cone was to assure the proper cone was supplied to
the customers in case they were rebuilding early model carriers made BEFORE APRIL 2005.
• Today, all necessary bearings are included in bearing kits or available separately thru service
and the duplication of the inner pinion bearing cone in gear and pinion kits is no longer
necessary.
