Tire Pressure Control System AX-696
Component Repair Procedure
Pneumatic Control Unit - Trailer Module Cover Replacement - Kit 218738
The following procedures describe the necessary work required for the addition of a trailer module to the Dana Tire
Pressure Control System Pneumatic Control Unit (PCU) for a 3 channel system. This work requires removal of the
pneumatic control unit from the vehicle. Follow removal procedures in Dana TPCS Service Manual (AXSM-0010).
1. Remove two pipe plugs from pneumatic control unit body at mating surface to trailer module.
2. Remove 6 solenoid cover screws (3c) and lift solenoid cover (3a) off body.
3. Using punch, knock out plastic plug on solenoid cover to allow for trailer module solenoid wires.
4. Place o-ring (10f) over wires on trailer module against trailer module cover.
5. Install 2 wires from trailer module to solenoid cover per wiring schematic on attached sheet. Verify that both
pins “snap” into cover and do not easily pull out. If pin does not snap into cover, bend tab on pin and reinsert.
6. Carefully tuck solenoid wires in area between transducer and solenoids while reinstalling the solenoid cover.
7. Carefully tighten cover screws ensuring that wires are not pinched between cover and body. Torque spec = 40
to 50 in-lbs.
8. Place o-rings (10g) in grooves in trailer module body.
9. While pushing wires from trailer module into solenoid cover, position trailer module against pneumatic control
unit body. Torque bolts (11b) 40 to 45 in-lbs.
10. Reinstall pneumatic control unit in vehicle.
11. Conduct system checkout to verify integrity of repairs.
