Input methods in detail
Stroke input
A Chinese character is built up of strokes. There are
more than 30 basic strokes, which are grouped into
8 stroke categories. Each category is represented with
icons on the keypad by one of the keys –
and . The Wildcard key, , is used when you
are not sure of which stroke to use.
See “Example of Stroke input” on page 18.
Your phone has an association function which is
designed to associate a stroke with a component,
a component with a character, or a character with
words or phrases.
To enter words

is the first and the last stroke of the character and that
the total number of strokes is four:
• Enter
1881
.
4. Move the cursor to highlight the character you want,
YES
press
.
The character is moved up to the text row. The other
character “ • ” is displayed in the candidate row.
You must enter a Chinese character stroke by stroke,
in the right order. The rules for the sequence of strokes
and components are:
• Over first then down:
• Left slope first then right slope:
• From top to bottom:
• From left to right:
• From outside to inside:
• Middle first then sides:
