Getting started: T68i/ie WAP and e-mail settings
Setting up WAP and e-mail
Before you start
Make sure you have your GSM network operator’s and/or service provider’s subscription
information at hand before you start setting up WAP and e-mail.
You must have a phone subscription that supports data transmission, and if you want to
use GPRS, a phone subscription that supports this.
What settings do I need?
• To use the WAP browser in your phone, you have to create a specific data account for WAP
and a WAP profile.
• To use the e-mail program in your phone, you have to create a specific data account for
e-mail and an e-mail account.
How do I enter the settings?
Depending on your GSM network operator, you can enter the settings you need in different
ways:
• Settings may already be entered when you buy your phone.
• You can receive settings from your GSM network operator or service provider, for example,
in a text message (SMS).
• You can use a wizard in your phone to help guide you through the relevant settings.
• You can request settings at www.SonyEricssonMobile.com/. You receive the settings in a text
message (SMS).
• You can enter the settings manually. Your GSM network operator or service provider will give
you the settings you need.
Receiving settings in a text message
Your GSM network operator or service provider may be able to send the required data
account, WAP and e-mail settings directly to your phone in a text message (SMS). Contact
your GSM network operator or service provider for details.
To request settings from Sony Ericsson
1.Use a PC to go to
http://www.SonyEricssonMobile.com/. By using the WAP or E-mail Configurators you can
request that a text message be sent to your phone with the settings you need.
2.When the message arrives, New settings received. Install? appears.
• Press
YES to install the new settings. The settings are entered automatically.
• Press NO to cancel installation. A new request for settings is then required, as in step 1.
Setting up with the wizard
If your phone is not set up for WAP, you can ask your GSM network operator or service
provider to provide you with WAP settings. Then you can simply use the wizard in your
phone to help guide you through the relevant settings.
To use the wizard for setting up WAP
1.Scroll to WAP services,
YES, homepage (for example Mobile Internet), YES. The wizard
now starts if no WAP settings exist.
2.Enter and save settings when asked, press
YES to confirm.
