for using CommuniCam™ MCA-20

Settings

There are two ways to create an e-mail account,
using the Internet or by sending a request in a
text message.

• At www.sonyericsson.com you can get support
on how to enter your e-mail settings. Use the e­mail configurator to set up your phone for e­mail, or read the Getting started document.
Contact your GSM network operator for
information about your settings.

• You can send a request for e-mail settings in a
text message. Create a text message from
Messages/SMS/Write new/. Write “mca20” in
the message and send it to phone number
[phone]. Within a few minutes you
receive the settings in a text message. Press
YES to install the settings. This service is
available until December 31, 2002.

• Before you send a picture using MMS

(Multimedia Message Service)

contact your GSM network operator for details
on how to configure your phone.

• You can send pictures in all sizes (640x480,
320x240, 160x120 and 80x60) in an e-mail
message from the camera.

• Irrespective of what picture size you choose, the
picture is sent in picture size 80x60 in a
multimedia message from the camera.

To send pictures in picture size 160x120 in a
multimedia message from the camera, select
picture size 640x480, 320x240 or 160x120, take
the picture and send it before saving it.

• You can send pictures in picture size 160x120 in
a multimedia message from Messages/MMS/
Write new/ if you select 160x120 in picture size
before taking the picture and then copy the
picture to the phone.

• It takes longer to send a large picture than a
small picture. A picture of 640x480 pixels takes
c. 2-4 minutes to send, a picture of 320x240
pixels takes c. 1-2 mins. to send and pictures of
160x120 and 80x60 pixels takes c. 1 min. to
send.

How to be the perfect photographer

• Take pictures in good lighting conditions, since
the camera is not equipped with a flash.

• Keep the camera still and at a right angle when
taking the picture.

• Avoid subjects with sharp contrasts between
light and dark.

Sending pictures

• You can send a picture using e-mail, MMS, the
infrared port or Bluetooth™ wireless technology.
To send a picture using the infrared port or
Bluetooth™ wireless technology, you first need
to copy the picture to the phone. To send a
picture using the infrared port, you must also
detach the camera from the phone.

• You can send several pictures in one multimedia
message from Messages/MMS/Write new/ if
you first copy the pictures you have taken to the
phone.

You can send up to five pictures in an e-mail
message from Messages/E-mail/Write new/ if
you first copy the pictures you have taken to the
phone.

Web album

• You can send your pictures to a Web album at
Sony Style Imaging. Visit www.sonystyle­imaging.com for more information.

in order to make this function work.

General

•*As soon as you have accepted and saved a
picture that you have taken, you can take
another one, since the camera goes back to
viewfinding mode. If you do not wish to take
another picture, you should exit viewfinding
mode to save battery power. The camera
automatically exits viewfinding mode after five
minutes.

• The camera supports 24-bit colours, which
means 16 million colours. The quality of the
pictures depends on the screen on which the
pictures are shown. For example, the quality of
a picture is higher on a computer screen than in
the phone display.

• Picture sizes:
640x480 pixels - c. 52 KB.
320x240 pixels - c. 16 KB.
160x120 pixels - c. 8 KB.
80x60 pixels - c. 4 KB.

• When you copy a picture to the phone, the
picture is saved in Fun & Games/My pictures.
