Replacement Instructions
These easy instructions will guide you through the Hard Drive replacement process.
Before you begin, place your notebook computer on a clean or covered surface to avoid

o Hold parts by the edges, away from exposed circuitry when possible. o Do not walk around excessively as this promotes static build-up.
Before you begin, remove any jewelry you may be wearing to prevent scratches to the surface
of your notebook computer.*
The appearance of the electronic components shown in the illustrations may differ from the
components shipped. This slight difference does not affect the accuracy of these instructions.
Hard Drive
Assembly
CAUTION: Make sure the computer is turned off, the lid is closed, and the AC Adapter is disconnected. Failure to do so can result in damage to the computer.
Step 1. Place the computer upside down
on a protected surface with the front edge facing you.
Lift here to remove the Battery
Battery Pack Removal
Step 2:
1) Slide the Right Battery tab to the unlock position.
2) With your Left thumb, slide the Left Battery tab up and hold.

Lift the Battery with your Right thumb using the notch at the bottom of the Battery.
Hard Drive Door
(Steps 3-8)
Step 3. Using the enclosed magnetic
screwdriver, remove the screw securing the Hard Drive Door.
Put aside the Hard Drive Door Screw to re-secure the Hard Drive Door later in the procedure.

Replacement Instructions
Slide the Hard Drive Door in a
downward motion and remove.
Locate the Hard Drive Cable in the Upper-Right corner of the Hard Drive Bay.
Disconnect the Hard Drive cable by lifting the cable latch upwards with your finger and pulling the cable tab to the Left.
Using the enclosed magnetic screwdriver, remove the seven (7) screws securing the Hard Drive to the Hard Drive Bay.
Take note that the screws in the middle of the Hard Drive are different than the screws on the outside edges. Reatain and separate the middle screws from the outside screws for reinstallation later in the procedure.

Lift To Remove
Remove the Hard Drive from the Hard Drive Bay by grasping the clear plastic tabs at the bottom and then lift up and away from the unit.
Hard Drive Disassembly
(Steps 9-10)
Place the Drive Assembly as shown. Remove four (4) screws from the Hard Drive Bracket, and then remove the Hard Drive Bracket from the Hard Drive. Put aside the
Bracket Screws to secure the Bracket to the Hard Dive later in the procedure.

Return the old H
ard Drive
to
Replacement Instructions
Turn the Hard Drive Assembly over and slide the Hard Drive downward to disconnect it from the cable.
(Steps 13-17)
Step 13. Insert the Hard Drive cable into
the connector. Close the Latch.
Be careful not to scratch the bottom of
the computer with the Hard Drive Bracket.
New Hard Drive
Slide the new Hard Drive in an upward direction to connect it to the cable.
Step 14. Insert the Hard Drive Assembly into the Hard Drive Bay. Make sure the Hard Drive goes under the screw hole at the top of the bay.
Step 12. Re-install the four (4) Hard Drive Bracket screws to secure the Hard Drive bracket to the New Hard Drive.
As noted in step 7, the screws in the middle of the Hard Drive are different than the screws on the edges. Separate the two (2) like screws from the remaining five (5) like screws. Install the two (2) like screws back into the middle of the Hard Drive, and then install the remaining five (5) to secure the Hard Drive Assembly in place.
Re-attach the Hard Drive by
sliding the door upwards.

Step 18. Re-install the Battery pack and reconnect the AC Adaptor.
Power on your computer and continue with the recovery process by following the instructions described on the back of the recovery disk’s case.
