• Use the unit with an AC adapter that is compatible with your personal computer. See also the manuals provided with your Sony personal computer for more information.
• To disconnect the unit completely from the main voltage, unplug the AC adapter.
• Make sure that the socket outlet is easily accessible.
• Do not place the unit in locations that are: – Extremely hot or cold – Dusty or dirty – Very humid – Vibrating – Subject to strong magnetic fields – Sandy – Subject to direct sunlight
• Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.
• Make sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of the unit. If this happens, a short-circuit may occur and the unit may be damaged.
• Do not operate the unit with a damaged cord.
• Do not operate the unit if the unit itself has been dropped or damaged.
• Always keep the metal contacts clean.
• Do not disassemble or convert the unit.
• While in use, it is normal for the unit to get warm.
• Keep the unit away from TV or AM receivers, because it can disturb TV or AM reception.
• i.LINK, USB, PC card slot, Printer, DVI-D and MONITOR connectors are not supplied with Limited Power Sources if those connectors are provided.
• When connecting or disconnecting the unit, handle it carefully.
• When transporting the unit, prevent foreign objects from causing a malfunction by using the battery pack, the connector covers and the supplied slot protectors if there is any.
• When transporting your personal computer, be sure to remove the unit first. Moving your personal computer with the unit installed could cause the unit to fall off, resulting in personal injury, or damage to the unit or your personal computer.
• When transporting the unit, detach the holder.
• If there are any dust or dirt particles on the port replicator connector, your personal computer may not be able to detect the port replicator when it is connected (even if the particles are invisible to the eye). If the connection seems to be poor, remove the AC power adapter and battery and wipe off the connector and the area around it on both the personal computer and port replicator. Commercial air dusters are also effective for blowing away residual dust and dirt. Be careful not to damage the connectors while cleaning them.
On cleaning
Clean the unit with a soft dry cloth or a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzine, which may damage the finish.
