ABOUT THE METHOD OF DISTINGUISHING THE SPEAKER ATTACHMENT MODEL
NWZ-E443 and NWZ-E444 have the model to whom the speaker is at­tached (NWZ-E443K/E444K). However, the model name of the main unit of WALKMAN of NWZ­E443K and E444K are NWZ-E443 and NWZ-E444. The setting of the fi rmware is different in the WALKMAN for single sales model and the WALKMAN to which the speaker is attached. Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish whether the WALKMAN brought in to the repair is the WALKMAN to which the speaker is attached.
Distinction method 1:
Distinguish by the serial number referring to “F-number and Serial number range List” (page 8).
Distinction method 2:
In the WALKMAN for supplied speaker model, marking is given on the MAIN board. Note: Execute marking at the same position when you exchange the
MAIN board.

Marking: WALKMAN for supplied speaker model. No Marking: WALKMAN for single sales model.
NOTE THE EACH BOARDS REPLACING
When the each boards are damaged, exchange the entire mounted board. The individual electrical parts which were mounted cannot be exchanged.

When the MAIN board is replaced, format it according to the fol­lowing.
1. Firmware writing
Execute the fi rmware writing with the set assembled to the state of the fi gure below after the MAIN board is replaced.
Note: If the set is not assembled to the state of the fi gure below, the fi rm-
ware cannot be written.
• The set is assembled to the state before the SVX KEY COVER ASSY and BUTTON SHEET are attached
Refer to the following procedures for the fi rmware writing meth- od.
Note 1: Confi rm the method of obtaining the “Write information tool”
used here to the service headquarters.
Note 2: Assemble the set completely after confi rming writing the fi rm-
ware ended.

Prepare the following tools beforehand.
• PC (Windows XP or Windows Vista)
• USB cable supplied to WALKMAN (WM-PORT)
• Write information tool
1-2. Installing the write information tool Procedure:
1. Unzip the supplied zip fi le to get the following folders.

2. Open the folder in order of “LabVIEW_Runtime_Engine_82” o “lv82rte”. Then, start up “lv82runtime”.

6. Installing starts.
7. Click “Finish” button. Then, click “Yes” button to restart your PC.

1. Click “Start” button of the PC, then select “Control panel”, and double click “System” icon.

2. Select “Hardware” tab, then click “Device manager” button.
3. Select “Connected WALKMAN” under “Portable Devices” from the below window then perform “Update Driver...”.
4. Select “Install from a list or specifi c location (Advanced)”, then click “Next” button.
5. Select “Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install”, then click “Next” button.
6. Select “USB Mass Storage Device”, then click “Next” button.
If you want the PC to recognize WALKMAN as MTP, please
select “MTP Device”.
7. Click “Finish” button.
When the PC urge to restart, please follow to the PC.

1. Check the drive letter information of the connected WALK­MAN.

2. Open the “Write Informatiom1.5” folder. Then, start up “CEF Write Information”.

3. Select “Product” tab and select the drive letter you checked in step 1 (Do not use “PCBA” tab).
