Before operating this unit, read this manual
thoroughly and retain it for future use.

WARNING

To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose
the unit to rain or moisture.

Features

This AV cordless IR transmitter is suitable for use
only with Sony Portable CD/DVD Player DVP­FX1/F5 (as of May 2000). If you connect this
transmitter to DVP-FX1/F5 and use it with an AV
cordless IR receiver which has LASER LINK, you
can have the picture and sound transmitted
optically. Cords no longer being in the way,
making any AV unit setup possible.
* LASER LINK is a system which transmits and

receives a picture and sound by using infrared
rays. LASER LINK is a trademark of Sony
Corporation.

The infrared transmission system does not
operate

IFT-R20/R10 AV Cordless IR Receivers are not
available in some areas.

Background noise and unclear picture

1 Connect the AV cordless IR transmitter to

the Portable CD/DVD Player.

2 Connect an AV cordless IR receiver (e.g.,

IFT-R20/R10) to a TV.

Refer to the operating instructions of the AV cordless
IR receiver for more information.

•Connecting cord is not connected
correctly.
bConnect the connecting cord

correctly.

•Direct sunlight is shining on the
infrared sensor of the AV cordless IR
receiver.
bAvoid direct sunlight.

•The power of the AV cordless IR
receiver is turned off (OFF).
bPress the power button to turn the

AV cordless IR receiver on (ON).

•The power of the AV cordless IR
transmitter is turned off (OFF).
bTurn the power on (ON).

•The power of the Portable CD/DVD
Player is turned off (OFF).
bTurn the power on (ON).

•The AV cordless IR transmitter and
receiver are not facing each other.
bAdjust the position and angle of

both units.

•The AV cordless IR receiver is
positioned too far from the AV
cordless IR transmitter.
bUse the AV cordless IR transmitter

near the AV cordless IR receiver.

•The LINE SELECT switch of DVP­FX1 is set to IN.
bSet it to OUT.

•The AV cordless IR transmitter and
receiver are not facing each other.
bAdjust the position and angle of

both units.

•Another infrared emitting appliance
is operating.
bStop operating it.

Precautions

Using a cordless AV
system

(1)Turn the TV on and set the TV/VCR selector on

the TV to VCR.

(2)Turn on the power of the AV cordless IR

receiver.

(3)(If you are using DVP-FX1)

Set the LINE SELECT switch to OUT.

(4)Turn on the power of the Portable CD/DVD

Player.

(5)Set the POWER switch on the AV cordless IR

transmitter to ON. (see illustration C)
The POWER indicator turns on.

(6)Adjust the angle and direction of both the AV

cordless IR transmitter and receiver. (see
illustration D)

(7)Start playback on the Portable CD/DVD Player.
(8)Adjust the angle and distance of both the AV

cordless IR transmitter and receiver to obtain
clear pictures.

To turn off the equipment

Be sure to turn off the AV cordless IR transmitter
before you turn off the Portable CD/DVD Player.

Notes

•Refer to the operating instructions of the Sony
Portable CD/DVD Player for further information
on using the AV cordless IR transmitter.

•Do not cover the AV cordless IR transmitter and
IR receiver with your hands or other objects.

•Infrared rays cannot pass through walls or
opaque glass. Be sure to place the AV cordless IR
transmitter and receiver in an unobstructed
position. Using LASER LINK through glass will
shorten the transmission range.

•Do not place the AV cordless IR transmitter too
close to the TV, as this may cause noise and/ or
beat.

•If you are using the AV cordless IR transmitter
only with a battery pack, and the remaining
battery capacity becomes low, noise may occur
on the pictures and sounds, and the transmission
range may shorten. When using LASER LINK,
connect the AV cordless IR transmitter to the AC
power adaptor or charge the battery.

Troubleshooting

If you run into any problem using the unit, first
check the power supply source. Then use the
following table for troubleshooting. Should the
difficulty persist disconnect the power source and
contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony
service facility.

Trouble Cause and/or remedy

Operation

•Do not place the unit in a location:
– Where it is vibrating
– Where there is a carpet or bed cover.
– Very humid and unventilated
– Under direct sunlight or hot
– Extremely cold

On use

•Do not use in areas of strong electrical currents

•Do not use near a AM radio or tuner. If you do

radio or tuner interference will result.

•Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.

•During use the unit will heat up, this is normal.

•Do not block the space between the AV cordless

IR transmitter and receiver. If you do the picture
and sound will not function.

•Do not use other infrared emitting appliance at

the same time. Interference may occur.

On cleaning and care

•Clean the cabinet with a soft cloth slightly

moistened with water or mild detergent solution.

•Do not use alcohol, benzene, or thinner to clean

the cabinet, as they may mar the finish.

•When using a chemical cloth, refer to the

supplied instructions.

•Do not use sprays such as insecticides, or place

the AV cordless IR transmitter near rubber or
plastic objects, as they may mar the finish.

No picture and no sound at all

•The TV/ VCR connector on the TV is
set to TV.
bSet it to VCR.

•The AC power adaptor of the AV
cordless IR receiver is not connected
to an AC outlet.
bConnect the AC power adaptor of

AVERTISSEMENT

Caractéristiques

Cet émetteur AV infrarouge sans fil ne doit être
utilisé qu’avec le lecteur portable de CD/DVD
Sony DVP-FX1/F5 (modèle de mai 2000). Si vous
connectez cet émetteur à DVP-FX1/F5 et si vous
l’utilisez avec un récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil
doté de la fonction LASER LINK, vous pouvez
transmettre de manière optique les images et le
son. L’absence de câbles rend possible n’importe
quelle organisation des appareils audio vidéo.
* LASER LINK est un système permettant

l’envoi et la réception d’images et de son par
infrarouge. LASER LINK est une marque
commerciale de Sony Corporation.

Remarque

Les récepteurs AV infrarouge sans fil IFT-R20/R10
ne sont pas disponibles dans certaines régions.

Préparation

1 Raccordez l’émetteur AV infrarouge sans

fil au lecteur portable de CD/DVD.

2 Raccordez un récepteur AV infrarouge

sans fil (par exemple IFT-R20/R10) à un
téléviseur.

Pour plus d’informations, reportez-vous au mode
d’emploi du récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil.

Utilisation d’un système
AV sans fil

(1) Allumez le téléviseur puis réglez le sélecteur

TV/VCR du téléviseur sur VCR.

(2) Mettez le récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil sous

tension.

(3) (Si vous utilisez DVP-FX1)

Placez le commutateur LINE SELECT sur OUT.

(4) Mettez le lecteur portable de CD/DVD sous

tension.

(5) Mettez le commutateur POWER de l’émetteur

AV infrarouge sans fil sur ON. (voir illustration
C)
L’indicateur POWER s’allume.

(6) Ajustez l’angle et la direction de l’émetteur et

du récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil. (voir
illustration D)

(7) Commencez la lecture sur le lecteur portable de

CD/DVD.

(8) Ajustez l’angle et la distance de l’émetteur et du

récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil pour obtenir
des images nettes.

Pour mettre l’appareil hors
tension

Attention à mettre hors tension l’émetteur AV
infrarouge sans fil avant de mettre hors tension le
lecteur portable de CD/DVD portable.

Remarques

•Reportez-vous au mode d’emploi du lecteur
portable de CD/DVD Sony pour obtenir plus
d’information sur l’utilisation de l’émetteur AV
infrarouge sans fil.

•Ne masquez pas l’émetteur ni le récepteur AV
infrarouge sans fil avec votre main ou un autre
objet.

•Les rayons infrarouges ne peuvent pas traverser
les murs ou le verre opaque. Veillez à placer
l’émetteur et le récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil
de façon à ne pas obstruer leur fonctionnement.
L’utilisation de la technologie LASER LINK au
travers d’une vitre diminue la distance de
transmission.

•Ne placez pas l’émetteur AV infrarouge sans fil
trop près du téléviseur, cela risquerait de
provoquer des interférences.

•Si vous utilisez l’émetteur AV infrarouge sans fil
seulement avec une batterie rechargeable, et que
la batterie est presque déchargée, l’image et le
son risquent d’être parasités et la distance de
transmission d’être réduite. Lors de l’utilisation
de la technologie LASER LINK, raccordez
l’émetteur AV infrarouge sans fil à un adaptateur
secteur ou chargez la batterie.

Dépannage

Si l’appareil ne fonctionne pas correctement,
commencez par vérifier l’alimentation électrique.
Utilisez ensuite le tableau suivant pour le
dépannage. Si le problème persiste, mettez
l’appareil hors tension et contactez votre
revendeur Sony ou le service après-vente agréé.

Problème Causes possibles et remèdes

Pas d’image ni de son

•Le connecteur TV/VCR du
téléviseur est réglé sur TV.
bRéglez-le sur VCR

•L’adaptateur d’alimentation
secteur du récépteur AV
infrarouge sans fil n’est pas
connecté à une prise secteur.
bRaccordez l’adaptateur

d’alimentation secteur du
récépteur AV infrarouge sans fil à
une prise secteur.

•Le câble de connexion n’est pas
branché correctement.
bConnectez correctement le câble

de connexion.

•Le capteur infrarouge du récepteur
AV infrarouge sans fil est exposé
aux rayons directs du soleil.

Le système de transmission infrarouge ne
fonctionne pas

•Le récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil
n’est pas sous tension (OFF).
bAppuyez sur le bouton

d’alimentation pour mettre le
récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil
sous tension (ON).

•L’émetteur AV infrarouge sans fil
n’est pas sous tension (OFF).
bMettez-le sous tension (ON).

•Le lecteur portable de CD/DVD
n’est pas sous tension (OFF).
bMettez-le sous tension (ON).

•L’émetteur et le récepteur AV
infrarouge sans fil ne sont pas l’un
en face de l’autre.
bModifiez la position et l’angle des

appareils.

•La distance entre l’émetteur et le
récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil
est trop grande.
bPlacez l’émetteur AV infrarouge

sans fil près du récepteur AV
infrarouge sans fil.

•Le commutateur LINE SELECT du
DVP-FX1 est placé sur IN.
bPlacez-le sur OUT.

Parasites et image floue

•L’émetteur et le récepteur AV
infrarouge sans fil ne sont pas l’un
en face de l’autre.
bModifiez la position et l’angle des

appareils.

•Un autre appareil émet des
infrarouges à proximité.
bArrêtez cet appareil.

Précautions

Fonctionnement

•Ne laissez pas l’adaptateur secteur :
– où il risque d’être soumis à des vibrations
– sur un tapis ou une couverture
– dans un endroit très humide ou mal ventilé
– soumis à la lumière directe du soleil
– dans un endroit extrêmement froid

Utilisation

•N’utilisez pas l’appareil dans des zones soumises

à des courants électriques importants

•N’utilisez pas l’appareil près d’un récepteur

radio AM ou d’un tuner. Des interférences
risqueraient de se produire.

•Ne laissez pas tomber l’adaptateur et ne le

cognez pas.

•L’appareil chauffe lors de son utilisation, ceci est

normal.

•N’encombrez pas l’espace entre l’émetteur et le

récepteur AV infrarouge sans fil. Sinon l’image et
le son risquent de ne pas fonctionner.

•N’utilisez pas en même temps d’autres appareils

émettant des infrarouges. Des interférences
risquent de se produire.

Entretien et nettoyage

•Nettoyez le boîtier à l’aide d’un chiffon doux

légèrement imbibé d’eau ou d’une solution
détergente non agressive.

•N’utilisez pas d’alcool, de benzène ou de solvant

pour nettoyer le boîtier, ceux-ci risquent de ternir
la finition.

•Lors de l’utilisation d’un nettoyant chimique,

reportez-vous aux instructions fournies.

•

N’utilisez pas d’aérosol tels que des insecticides, et
ne placez pas l’émetteur AV infrarouge sans fil près
d’objets en caoutchouc ou en plastique, ceci risquent
de ternir la finition.
