For information about bar code scanning applications (available separately),
email info@socketcom.com
1. If not already open, start SocketScan. You can tap on your assigned
trigger button to quickly launch the program.
2. Start the application you want to receive the data, such as Pocket Word
or Pocket Excel. Inside the application, make sure a new document or
spreadsheet is open that you can scan data into.
3. Press your assigned trigger button and scan the bar code. Hold the ISC
3-12 inches away from the bar code. Aim the laser so it spans the entire
width of the code, at a slight angle (45° is optimal). An amber LED
indicates the laser is on.
For example, try the following Code 39 bar code:
Important! Do not look directly into the beam or point it at a person!
4. When data is read, a beep should sound, the laser should turn off, and the
LED should turn green for several seconds, indicating a good read. If the
ISC fails to read data within a few seconds, the amber LED and laser
beam will turn off, and you must try again.
Note: If your Pocket PC enters suspend mode when you are running
SocketScan, press the ON button. SocketScan will reinitialize itself.
