1.1 Introduction
1.1.1 Description
LiveTouch makes selecting highlight clips from multiple incoming feeds and playing these clips to air fast and simple.
LiveT ouch can form part of a large system in which one or more LiveTouch seats can be used. Each LiveTouch seat consists of a desktop application running on a PC, with an associated LiveTouch control panel.
The LiveTouch panel is designed for the demanding sports replay environment. It provides fast highlight selection, playlist editing and live play-out control via a simple interface with a mix of dedicated and soft-programmable buttons, responsive jog wheel and high-precision T-bar.
1.2 Start and Configure the LiveTouch Application
To start the application:
Double-click on the LiveTouch icon on the PC desktop, or click on the Windows start menu and navigate to Programs - SAM - LiveTouch.
On the first time of starting the screen will be mostly blank except for the application bar at the bottom of the screen. The application bar is used to switc h to ot he r ap p licat ion s .
Immediately above the application bar are boxes used to access the configuration of output ports and audio patching presets.

2.1.2.3 Transport Controls Jog/Shuttle Wheel
Use the jog/shuttle wheel to navigate forwards and backwards through a live feed or saved clip. Use the <FAST JOG> button to toggle between normal, fast jogging and shuttling.
Jogging
The wheel rotates freely and is used for jogging forwards/backwards at variable speed depending on the speed of rotation, and the status of the <FAST JOG> button. Light blue normal jog, dark blue - fast jog.
After a short period of inaction the wheel ‘locks’ requiring a firmer initial movement to counter the lock. This is to minimise the possibility of unintentionally moving the wheel. See “System Configuration” on page 38.
The wheel is user-configurable such that the number of frames of movement per revolu tion of the wheel can be defined.
Shuttling
Shuttling is faster than jogging and is used for navigating at high speed to get to an approximate area of a clip.
Double press the <FAST JOG> button to enter shuttle mode (the <FAST JOG> button turns red). The <FAST JOG> button returns to the default mode after a period of inactivity. This time-out period is set in the System Configuration menu.
The wheel is rotated against a clutch providing resistan ce. In this mode shuttlin g uses speeds ×1, ×2, ×4, ×8, ×16, ×32 and ×64, in both directions, dependent on the amount of rotation of the wheel against the clutch. The maximum speed available can vary with system configuration. See “System Configuration” on page 38.
T-bar
The T-bar is use d to move up from zer o to begi n play-out of a cued clip, or to slo- mo part of a clip. Move the T-bar to adjust play-out speed of a clip.
The T-bar is user-configurable from the Settings menu. See “Settings” on page 63. An alternative T-bar range is available. This is selected via the pa nel Cha nnel Option s menu.
Once selected the alternative T-bar range remains in force until deselected, then returning to the normal T-bar range. See “Alt T-bar Setup” on page 18.
Press <SHIFT> then jog to scroll though the library or current playlist entries.

3.10.1.2 Workflow Options
When Create clip when saving marked segment is ticked, LiveTouch creates a new ISA clip, as well as a new playlist entry, when a marked segment is saved to a playlist.
Take button action - gives different options for the behaviour of the <TAKE> button:
Play at 100% - <TAKE> button plays paused/cued/new clips at 100%.
Play at T-bar speed - <TAKE> button plays paused/cued/new clips at the current T-bar speed setting.
