thunderous bass. Reproducing the clean detail and speed for
the best music recordings requires extreme bass precision.
Snell’s new ICS Sub 24 is the first subwoofer ever, to meet
THX’s rigorous Ultra2 certification standards, assuring
maximum extension, output, and control.
The ICS Sub24 was specially designed to exceed the challenging requirements of Ultra2’s specifications, while living
up to Snell’s legendary performance standards for both
music and cinema. Its size conforms to today’s architectural
requirements, so that it can easily fit into built-in cabinets
and millwork.
THX requires a response that follows a Linkwitz-Reilly shape
within .5 to 1dB from 20Hz to 200 Hz! Furthermore,
extremely high output levels (an unbelievable117dB at
80Hz!) at very low distortion levels are required. To meet
these specifications we use two of our best 12-inch woofers
and a new 450 watt amplifier and place them in a heavy and
highly braced 29”h x 17.5”w x 22.5”d cabinet. The frontported cabinet design allows this sub to stand tall, lay on its
side, or even fire downward. Special attention is given to
the porting of the cabinet to reduce any flow noise effects.
The ICS Sub 24 is the perfect companion for Snell’s THX
Ultra 2 models and astonishing XA Reference series .
