SELECT FOR DIFFUSE OR DIRECT OPERATION
The AMC 550mp is a high-performance, surround speaker with a selectable
radiation pattern. The AMC 550mp can be either a diffuse dispersion pattern
dipole or can radiate with a wide dispersion direct-pattern, hence its designation
“mp” (for multi-pattern). In the diffuse mode, the AMC 550mp directs its energy
away from the listening area, performing like an array of movie theater surround
speakers. This creates a diffuse, lifelike ambient soundfield. In the direct mode
the AMC 550mp functions as a wide dispersion direct radiator, perfect for
localized surround effects or wide coverage front channel use. Voiced to match
all Snell speakers, the AMC 550mp mounts flush and virtually disappears in the
listening room.
