SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS & PRE-OPERATION CHECKLIST for SNAPPER

19” STEEL DECK WALK BEHIND MOWERS
INTRODUCTION: The SNAPPER 19” Walk Behind Mowers are shipped almost fully assembled and require minimal set-up. Complete each of t he following steps carefully. Review and complete each item as instructed on the Pre-Operation checklist. The Snappe r Prod uct Registration card mu st be filled out and sent to Cust omer Service department at Snapper when completed.
STEP 1: Remove machine from shipping carton. Machine
is shipped in carton with handles disconnected. Remove and discard cardboard from between all handles. Raise upper handle until it is seated in both lower handles. Securely tighten han dle T-Knobs on both sides. Pos ition handles and secure with nuts and bolts to the lower deck brackets. Tighten nuts and bolts securely. See Figure 1.
NOTE: Handles are mounted on the inside of the deck brackets. Insert bolts so that the nuts will be to wards the inside of the brackets. See Figure 2.
STEP 4: Handle hei ght is adjus table f or dif ferent hei ght of operators. Loosen the two nuts on the inside of each of the lower handles. S ee Figure 2. Move the hand le up or down to the desired height. Retighten all nuts securely after adjustment.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT tip machine with carburetor or
spark plug down. Oil fr om crankcase will saturate the air filter and cause the engi ne to be hard to start or not start at all. If contaminatio n does oc c ur , the air filter will have to be replaced.
STEP 2: Tip mower back against the upper handle to gain access to cutting blade. Remove foam shipping block from cutting blade. T his must be removed before star ting the engine. STEP 3: Route recoil rope up to rope guide on upper handle. Move blade control bail up to handle. Pul l recoil handle to extend rope past guide. Insert rope into guide.

Snapper has completed initial adjustments and performed operational tests prior to shipping the machine. Due to the possible effects of shipping, handling and storage, Snapper intends for all of the following items to be verified and necessary final adjustments made at time of setup. It remains good practice and is strongly recommended that all t he items also be che cked prior to pla cing the machine in to service. It is v ery important that setup is verified and all operational tests co m p leted an d r esu lts ar e ac cep tab le. After completing th is fo rm, sign and retain for future reference.
SET-UP
_____ FOAM SHIPPING BLOCK removed from cutting blade. _____ UPPER HANDLE & LOWER HANDLE secured in place and hardware tightened securely. _____ SIDE CHUTE, RECYCLING COVER or GRASS BAG installed on mower. _____ BLADE retaining bolt(s) checked and tightened securely.
LUBRICATION
_____ ENGINE OIL added to bring level up to full mark on 4-cycle engines (Refer to Engine Manual).
OPERATIONAL TEST
_____ ENGINE started, engine control settings checked and adjusted as needed.
CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) COMPLIANCE TEST
_____ BLADE CONTROL stops engine when released.
