Protectionfor Children

Tragic accidents canoccur if the operator is not alertto the

presenceof children. Children are often attracted to the machine andthe mowing activity. Children who havebeen given rides in the past may suddenly appear in the mowing areafor another ride and be run over or backedover by the machine.Never assumethat children will remain whereyou

last saw them.

1. KEEPchildren out of the mowing area and under the

watchful care of a responsible adult other than the operator.

2. DO NOTallow children in yard when machine is operated (evenwith the bladeOFF).

3. DO NOTallow children or others to ride on machine, attachmentsor towed equipment (evenwith the blades OFF).Theymay fall and be seriously injured.

4. DO NOTallow pre-teenagechildren to operate machine.

5.ALLOW only responsible adults & teenagerswith mature

judgment under close adult supervision to operate machine.

6. DO NOToperatebladesin reverse.STOPBLADES.LOOK and SEEbehind and down for children, pets and hazards beforeand while backing.

7. USEEXTRACAREwhen approaching blind corners, shrubs, trees, or other objects that may obscure vision.

Protection againstTipovers

Slopesare a major factor relatedto loss-of-control and tip- overaccidents, which can result in severe injury or death.

All slopes require extra CAUTION.If you cannot back up the

slopeor if you feel uneasyon the slope, DONOTmow it. Useextracare with grass catchers or other attachments;

these affect the handling and the stability of the machine.

Referto the Slope Guideat the end of this manual.

1. DO NOToperatemachine on slopes exceeding15 degrees(27% grade).

2. ExerciseEXTREMECAUTIONon slopes above10 degrees(18% grade). Turn blades OFFwhen traveling uphill. Usea slow speed and avoidsudden or sharp turns.

3. DO NOToperatemachine back and forth across face of slopes. Operateupanddown. Practiceon slopes with

bladesoff.

4. AVOID starting, stopping or turning on slopes. If machine stops going uphill or tires lose traction, turn bladesOFFand back slowly straight down the slope.

5. STAYALERTfor holesand other hidden hazards.Tall grass can hide obstacles. Keepawayfrom ditches,

washouts, culverts, fencesand protruding objects.

6. KEEPA SAFEDISTANCE(at least 3 feet) away from edge of ditches and other drop offs. Themachinecould turn over

if an edge caves in.

7. Always begin forward motion slowly and with caution.

8. Useweights or a weighted load carrier in accordance with instructions supplied with a grass catcher. DO NOT operate machine on slopes exceeding10 degrees (18% grade) when equippedwith grass catcher.

9. DO NOTput your foot on the ground to try to stabilize the machine.

10. DO NOToperatemachine on wet grass. Reduced

traction could causesliding.

11. Choosea low enough speedsetting so that you will not haveto stop or shift on a slope. Tires may lose traction on

slopes eventhough the brakes are functioning properly.

12. DO NOToperatemachine under any condition where

traction, steering or stability is doubtful.

13. Always keepthe machine in gear when going down

slopes. DO NOTshift to neutral (or actuatehydro roll

release)and coast downhill.

Preparation

1. Read,understand, and follow instructions and warnings in this manual and on the machine, engine and

attachments. Know the controls and the proper use of the

machine beforestarting.

2.0nly mature, responsible persons shall operatethe machineand only after proper instruction.

3. Dataindicates that operators age 60 and above,are involved in a large percentageof mower-related injuries.

These operators should evaluatetheir ability to operatethe

mower safely enough to protect themselvesand others

from serious injury.

4. Handle fuel with extra care. Fuelsareflammable and

vapors are explosive. Useonly an approved fuel container.

DONOTremovefuel capor addfuel with engine running.

Add fuel outdoors only with engine stopped and cool. Clean spilled fuel from machine. DONOTsmoke.

5. Practice operation of machinewith BLADESOFFto learn

controls and developskills.

6. Checkthe areato be mowed and removeall objects such

as toys, wire, rocks, limbs and other objects that could cause injury if thrown by bladeor interfere with mowing.

8. Checkshields, deflectors, switches, blade controls and other safety devices frequently for proper operation and

location.

9. Make sure all safety decals are clearly legible.Replaceif damaged.

10. Protect yourself when mowing andwear safety glasses, a dust mask, long pants and substantial footwear.

11. Know how to STOPbladesand engine quickly in preparationfor emergencies.

12. Useextra care when loading or unloading the machine into a trailer or truck.

13. Checkgrass catchercomponents frequently for signs of

wear or deterioration and replaceas neededto prevent

injury from thrown objects going through weak or worn spots.

SafeHandlingof Gasoline

To avoid personal injury or property damage,use extreme

carein handling gasoline. Gasolineis extremelyflammable andthe vapors are explosive.

1. Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes andother sources of ignition.

2. Useonly an approvedfuel container.

3. DO NOTremovefuel cap or add fuel with the engine running. Allow the engineto cool before refueling.

4. DO NOTrefuelthe machine indoors.

5. DO NOTstorethe machineor fuel container inside where

there is an open flame, spark or pilot light such as on a water heateror other appliances.

6. DO NOTfill fuel containers inside a vehicle or on a truck or trailer bed with a plastic liner. Always placethe

containerson the ground away from the vehicle before

filling.

7. Remove gas-poweredequipment from the vehicle or trailer and refuelit on the ground. If this is not possible, then refuel equipment using a portablecontainer, rather than a gasoline dispenser nozzle.

8. DO NOTstart gas poweredequipment in enclosed vehicles or trailers.

9. Keepthe nozzlein contactwith the rim of the fuel tank or

container opening at all times until fueling is complete. DO NOTusea nozzle lock-open device

10. If fuel is spilled on clothing, change clothing

immediately.

11. Neveroverfill afuel tank. Replacefuel cap andtighten

securely.

Operation

1. Mount and dismount machine from left side. Keepclear

of discharge opening at all times.

2. Start engine from operator's seat, if possible. Makesure bladesare OFFand parking brakeis set.

3. DO NOTleavemachinewith engine running. STOP

engine, STOPblades,SETbrake, and Removekey before

leavingoperators position of any reason.

4. DO NOToperatemachine unless properly seatedwith

feet on feet rests or pedal(s).

5. STOPBLADESand ENGINEand makesure blades have

stopped before removing grass catcher or unclogging

mower to prevent loss of fingers or hand.

6. Blades must be OFFexceptwhen cutting grass. Set bladesin highest position when mowing over rough

ground.

7. Keephands and feet awayfrom rotating blades underneathdeck.DONOTplacefoot on ground while

BLADESareONor machine is in motion.

8. DO NOToperatemachine without entire grasscatcher or

guards in placeand working. DONOTpoint discharge at

people,passing cars, windows or doors.

9. Slow down beforeturning.

10. Watch out for traffic when near or crossing roadways.

11. STOPengineimmediatelyafter striking an obstruction. Inspect machine and repair damagebefore resuming

operation.

12. Operatemachineonly in daylight or with good artificial light.

13. Exercise CAUTIONwhen pulling loads. Limit loadsto

those you can safelycontrol and attach loads to hitch plate as specified with SNAPPERattachment instructions.

14. Onslopes, the weight of the towed equipment may

cause loss of traction and loss of control. When towing, travel slowly and allow extra distance to stop.

15. DO NOToperateengine in enclosedareas. Engine

exhaust gasescontain carbon monoxide, a deadly poison.

16. DO NOTdischargematerialagainstawall or

obstruction. Material may ricochet back towards the operator.

17. Only use accessories approvedby the manufacturer.

See manufacturer's instructions for proper operation and

installation of accessories.

Towing

1.Tow only with a machine that has a hitch designedfor

towing. DONOTattach towed equipment exceptat the hitch

point.

2. Follow the manufacturer's recommendationfor weight limits for towed equipment and towing on slopes.

3. DO NOTallow children or others on towed equipment.

4. On slopes, the weight of the towed equipment may cause loss of traction and loss of control.

5.Travel slowly and allow extra distanceto stop.

Maintenance

1. DO NOTstore machineor fuel container inside where

fumes may reachan open flame, spark or pilot light such as

in a water heater,furnace, clothes dryer or other gas appliance.Allow engine to cool before storing machinein

an enclosure.Store fuel container out of the reach of children in a well ventilated, unoccupied building.

2. Keepengine free of grass, leavesor excess greaseto reducefire hazardand engineoverheating.

3.When draining fuel tank, drain fuel into an approved container outdoors and away from open flame.

4. Check brakesfrequently; adjust, repair or replaceas needed.

5. Keepall bolts, nuts and screws properly tight. Checkthat all cotter pins are in proper position.

12. Mower blades are sharp and can cut. Wrap the blades

or wear heavy leather gloves and useCAUTIONwhen

handling them.

13. DO NOTtest for spark by grounding spark plug next to

spark plug hole; sparkplug could ignite gas exiting engine.

14. Havemachine serviced by an authorized SNAPPER

dealer at least once ayear and havethe dealerinstall any

newsafety devices.

15. Maintain or replacesafetyand instruction labelsas necessary.

16. Use only genuine SNAPPERreplacementparts to

assure that original standards aremaintained.

Installing the Seat

Assemblingthe SteeringWheel

How to Install the Seat

1. Carefully removethe plastic bagfrom the seat. Usethe fasteners shown belowto install the seat.The fasteners

are shown at full size.

NOTE:Fastenersmay be attachedto seat for shipping purposes, if so remove fasteners before proceeding.

2. Align the holes in the seathingeto the holes in the seat (Figure 5). Fastenthe seat to theseat hinge with the

fasteners as shown.

3. Checkthe operating position of the seat. If the seat needsto be adjusted,loosen the two wing bolts. Slide the seatforward or backward along the seat adjusting

holes as shown. Tighten the wing bolts (A).

How to Assemble the Steering Wheel Tools Required:3/8" SocketWrench Attachthe steering wheel asfollows:

1. Make sure the front wheels point forward.

2. Slide the bellows over the steeringpost (Figure7).

NOTE:Before attachmentof the steeringwheel, make sure that the front wheels point forward and are straight. For proper alignment of the steering wheel, seeFigure7.

3. Slide the steering wheel onto the steering post.

4. Use thefasteners shown above to secure the steering wheel. Thefasteners are shown at full size. Tighten the screw until snug and then add 1/4 turn. DO NOTover tighten.

5. Attach the cover to the steering wheel.

6. Some models have an optionaldecal in the parts bag. Attach the decal to the center of the steering wheel as

shown.

MaintenanceFreeBattery

IMPORTANT:Beforeyou attach the battery cables to the battery, checkthe battery date.The battery date tells if the battery must be charged.

1. Checkthe top and the side of the battery for the location of the battery date (Figure9).

2. If the battery is put into service beforethe battery date,

the battery cables can be attachedwithout charging the battery. See "How To Install The Battery Cables".

3. If the battery is put into service afterthe battery date, the battery must be charged. See"How To ChargeThe MaintenanceFreeBattery".

How to Chargethe Maintenance FreeBattery

,_ WARNING:Whenyou charge the battery,do not

smoke. Keepthe battery awayfrom any sparks. The fumes from the battery acid can causean explosion.

1. Removethe battery and battery tray.

2. Removethe protective cap from the battery terminal.

3. Use a 12 volt battery chargerto chargethe battery. Chargeat a rate of 6 amperesfor one hour. If you do not havea battery charger, have an authorized service center chargethe battery.

4. Install the battery and batterytray. Make surethe positive (+) terminal is on the left side.

How to Install the BatteryCables

,_ WARNING:To prevent sparks, fastenthe red cable to

the positive (+) terminal before you connect the black cable.

Usethe fasteners shown belowto install the battery cables.

1. Removethe protective capfrom the battery terminal.

2. Fastenthe redcable and terminal cover (if equipped) to the positive (+) terminal with the fasteners as shown (Figure 9).

3. Fastenthe black cable to the negative(-) terminal with the fasteners as shown.

OperatorPresenceSystem (Seat) Theseat has an Operator PresenceSystem to shut off the

engine whenthe operator leavesthe seat.This system is not intendedfor regular use in stopping the engine or the blade(s). Beforeleaving the seat, move the blade rotation control to the DISENGAGEposition, shift to neutral, set the parking brake,and stop the engine.

How To CheckThe Safety Interlock Switches To check the function of the safety interlock switches, follow

the steps below.

1. Checkthe blade rotation control switch. Sit in the seat. Depressthe clutch/brake pedal. Move the blade rotation

control to the ENGAGEposition. Turn the ignition switch to the STARTposition. The engine should not

start. If the engine starts, the switch is defective and must be replaced.

2. Checkthe clutch/brake switch. Sit in the seat.Movethe blade rotation control to the DISENGAGEposition. DO

NOTdepressthe clutch/brake pedal.Turn the ignition switch to the STARTposition. The engine should not start. If the engine starts, the switch is defective and must be replaced.

3. Checkthe Operator PresenceSystem switch. DO NOT sit in the seat. Depressthe clutch/brake pedal.Move

the blade rotation control to the DISENGAGEposition. Turn the ignition switch to the STARTposition. The

engine should not start. If the engine starts, the switch is defective and must be replaced.

4. Checkthe ReverseMowing Option (RMO) switch. Sit in the seat. Depressthe clutch/brake pedal. Move the blade rotation control to the DISENGAGEposition. Start the engine and move the drive control to the reverse (R) position. With the engine running, movethe blade rotation control to the ENGAGEposition. The engine should stop running. If the engine continues to run, the RMO switch is defective and must be replaced.

IMPORTANT!BeforeYouStart Mowing

• Checkthe engineoil.

• Fill the fuel tank with gasoline.

• Checkthe air pressure of the tires.

• Checkthe levelof the mower housing.

• Make sure the battery cables areattached.

• Make sure thewire is attachedto the spark plug.

maintenanceto the mower, removethe wire from the spark plug.

How to Preparethe Engine NOTE:The enginewas shippedfrom the factory filled with

oil. Checkthe level of the oil. Add oil as needed. NOTE:The operation of a new engine will sometimes result

in a slight amount of smoke. This smoke is causedby paint or oil on or around the muffler. This is normal and only

Checkthe air pressure in the tires. Tires with too much air pressure will cause the unit to riderough. Also, the wrong

air pressure will keepthe mower housing from cutting level. Recommendedair pressure is 14 PSI(1 BAR).

Checkthe Levelof the Mower Deck Make sure the levelof cut is still correct. After you mow a

short distance, look atthe areathat was cut. If the mower deck does not cut level, seethe instructions on "How To

LevelThe Mower Deck" in the Maintenancesection of this instruction book.

Always use a safety gasolinecontainer. Donot

smokewhen adding gasolineto the engine. When inside an enclosure, do not fill with gasoline. Before

you add gasoline, stop the engine. Letthe engine

cool for several minutes.

IMPORTANT:This unit is equippedwith an internal combustion engine and must not be used on or nearany unimproved forest-covered, brush-coveredor grass-covered land unless the engine's exhaust system is equippedwith a spark arrester meeting applicablelocal or state laws (if any). If a spark arrester is used, it must be maintained in effective working order by the operator.

In the State of Californiathe above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public Resources Code).

Otherstates may have similar laws. Federallaws apply on federal lands. Seean Authorized Service Centerfor a spark

arrester for the muffler. In some areas,local law requiresthe useof a resistor spark

plug to control the ignition signals. Seean Authorized Service Centerfor a resistor spark plug for the engine.

NOTE:Actual sustained horsepower will likely be lower due to operating limitations and environmentalfactors.

Attachments

This unit can use manydifferent attachments. For all pull-behind attachments or trailers, the maximum

gross weight is 250 pounds. Grossweight is the weight of the attachment or trailer and any load that might be on or in

it. Do not operateon a slope that is greater than 10 degrees

when using a pull-behind attachmentor trailer. We have included a slope guide in this book to helpyou determine the slope on which you will be operating your unit. Neverallow

someone to stand or ride on or in an attachment or trailer.

Using Controls

How to Usethe Throttle Control

Usethe throttle control to increaseor decreasethe speedof

the engine. CAUTION:Always operate the enginewith the throttle control

in the FASTposition. If the engine runs for several minutes at slower than the FASTposition, the engineand transmission will overheatand can be damaged.

1. The FASTposition is marked with a detent. For normal operation and when using a grass bagger, move the throttle control to the FASTposition. Formaximum charging of the battery and for a cooler running engine and transmission, operatethe engine in the FAST position.

2. Fortransport and to tow pull behind attachments, control the ground speedwith the speed control pedal.

3. Theengine governor is set at the factory for maximum performance. Do not adjust the governor to increase the speed of the engine.

2. Pull the PTOswitch up to the ENGAGEposition to rotate the blades.

NOTE:If the engine stops whenyou engagethe blades, the seat switch is not activated. Makesure you sit in

the middle of the seat. Also, makesure the wire is connectedto the seatswitch.

3. Pushthe PTOswitch down to the DISENGAGEposition to stop the blades. Beforeyou leavethe operator's position, make sure the bladeshavestopped rotating.

4. Beforeyou ride the unit across a sidewalk or a road, push the PTOswitch down to the DISENGAGEposition.

How to Usethe Speed Control Pedal Thedrive system uses a Hydrostatic Automatic Drive

transmission. The Hydrostatic transmission is very easyto operate.This type of drive system does not require a shift lever or a clutch pedal.

Thespeedanddirection of travel is controlled by a single speedcontrol pedaloperatedwith your right foot. Donot use

the left brake pedalin normal operation. Only use the left brake pedalto quickly stop in an emergency.

Driving and Stoppingthe Unit

How to Drive Forward

1. Theautomatic drive disconnect must be in the DRIVE position (Figure 13).

2. Slowly releaseyour left foot from the brakepedal.

3. Move the throttle control to the FASTposition.

How to Usethe CruiseControl To engagethe cruise control:

1. Slowly push the speedcontrol pedalforward to the desired speed (Figure11).

2. Pull up on the cruise control knob (Figure12). Release the speed control pedal. The unit should continue traveling forward at the desired speed.

NOTE:The cruise control only operates in forward speeds.

To disengagethe cruise control:

1. Pushthe speedcontrol pedal (Figure 11), OR

2. Pushthe brakepedal.

How to Drive in Reverse

1. Look to the rear.

2. Slowly push the speedcontrol pedalto the REVERSE position.

How to Disconnect the Transmission

A - Cruise Control knob

To push the unit, use the automatic drive disconnect to releasethe transmission. The automatic drive disconnect is located under the seat.

1. Theengine must be off.

2. Raisethe seat. Theautomatic drive disconnect is under the seat.

3. Move and latch the automatic drive disconnect in the PUSHposition (Figure13). Thetransmission is now

releasedandthe unit can be pushed. NOTE:In cold weather, the heavyviscosity oil in the

transmission will make the unit difficult to push.

4. To engagethe transmission, unlatch the automatic drive disconnect. Thetransmission is now connected

and readyto operate.

How to Set the Parking Brake

1. Completely push the brakepedal forward.

2. Lift the parking brake lever (Figure 14).

3. Removeyour foot from the brakepedal and then releasethe parking brakelever. Make sure the parking

brakewill hold the unit.

4. To releasethe parking brake,completely push the brake pedal forward. The parking brake will automatically

release.

How to Changethe Cutting Height To change the cutting height, raise or lower the deck ift lever

5. Removethe key to restrict accessto the RMOfeature. WARNING:The engine will shut off if the speed

control pedal is moved into reversewhile the blades are engagedandthe RMOis not activated.

3. Move the deck lift leverto a height of cut position. In

high or thick grass, cut the grass in the highest position first and then lower the mower deck to a lower position.

CAUTION:Donot operatewith the mower deck in the LEVEL ADJUSTMENTposition. If you operatein the LEVEL ADJUSTMENTposition, the mower deck and bladescanbe

damaged.

4. Move the throttle control to the SLOWposition.

5. Engagethe blades.

6. Move the throttle control to the FASTposition.

7. Slowly push the speedcontrol pedalto the desired speed.

NOTE:Whenyou mow in heavygrass or mow with a grass bagger,use a slow forward speed.

8. Make sure the levelof cut set at the factory is still correct. After you mow a short distance, look at the

areathat was cut. If the mower deck does not cut level, seethe instructions on "How To LevelThe Mower

Deck" in the Maintenancesection.

How to Operatethe Unit on Hills

_ ARNING:Do not ride up or down slopes that are

too steepto back straight up. Neverride the unit across a slope. Seethe "Slope Guide"in the back of this book for information on how to checkslopes.

1. Control the speed only with the speed control pedal. Do not use the brake pedalon a hill.

2. To help prevent an accident, slowly move the speed control pedal. Avoid suddenturns or changesin speed.

3. To reduce forward speedwhen going down a hill, slowly releasethe speed control pedal until the unit slows to the desired speed.

How to Stop on a Hill

1. Avoid stopping on a hill. If you must quickly stop in an emergency, removeyour right foot from the speed control pedaland quickly depress the left brake pedal.

2. Setthe parking brake.

3. Beforeyou dismount from the seat, move the throttle control to SLOWposition, move the bladerotation

control to the DISENGAGEDposition, turn off the engine and set the parking brake.

How to Start Operationon a Hill

1. Start the engine.

2. Move the blade rotation control to the ENGAGED position.

3. Move the throttle control to the FASTposition.

4. Depressthe brake pedaland releasethe parking brake. Asyou releasethe parking brake,pushthe speed control pedalto the desiredspeed.

All-Wheel Steering

Becauseboth front andrearwheelsturn, the tractor is very maneuverable.Becauseof the shorter turning radius, the tractor can operate closely around objects, such as shrubs

and trees. However, becausethe rearwheels turn toward the object, the wheels could becomewedged against a wall,

tree, fence or other object. To free the wheels,do the following:

1. Disengagethe blades.

2. Slightly turn the steering wheel awayfrom the object. Do not sharply turn (more than 7 degrees)the steering wheelor the rear wheels will turn into the object.

3. Slowly back awayfrom the object.

presencesystem that includes a sensor switch for

the seat. These components tell the electricalsystem

if the operator is sitting on the seat.Thissystem will

stop the engine when the operator leavesthe seat.

shorten the life of the valves.

Donot smokewhen adding gasolineto the fuel tank.

CAUTION:A mixture of alcohol (ethanol or methanol) and gasoline (called gasohol), will attract moisture and cause acid deposits during storage.While the unit is in storage, the acids in the fuel can damagethe fuel system.

To prevent engine problems with the fuel system, empty the fuel system before storage of 30 daysor longer as follows.

1. Drainthe fuel tank.

2. Start the engine. Let the engine run until thefuel lines and the carburetor are empty.

3. After storage, makesure you use fresh fuel. Seethe storage instructions for additional information.

4. Never useengine cleaneror carburetor cleanerin the fuel tank or permanent damagecan occur.

1. Checkthe blade rotation control or the PT0 clutch for correct adjustment. Forthe bladesto disengage

correctly, the adjustment must be correct.

2. Beforeyou usethe unit, check the oil in the engine and add oil if necessary.

3. If the engine will not start, first make sure thewire is attachedto the spark plug.

4. Make sure all the belts are inside all the belt guides. Seethe instructions on how to removeand install the

motion drive and mower drive belts.

5. Beforeyou makean inspection, adjustment (exceptfor the carburetor), or repair, make surethe wire from the spark plug is disconnected.

6. For longer life of the battery on electric start models, chargethe batteryevery three months.

7. Usethe speed control pedalto changethe ground speed, not the throttle control.

8. Belt noise canoccur when the bladeis engaged.This noise is normal and does not affect the operationof the

unit.

Mowing and BaggingTips

1. Fora lawn to look better, checkthe cutting level of the mower deck. See"How To LevelThe Mower Deck" in

the Maintenance section.

2. Forthe mower deck to cut level, make sure the tires havethe correct amount of air pressure.

3. Everytime you use the unit, check the blade. If the blade is bent or damaged, immediately replacethe blade.Also, make sure the nut for the blade is tight.

4. Keepthe bladessharpened.Worn bladeswill causethe ends of the grass to turn brown.

5. Do not cut or baggrass that is wet. Wet grass will not discharge correctly. Let the grass dry before cutting.

6. Usethe left side of the mower deck to trim nearan object.

7. Dischargethe cut grass onto the mowed area.The

result is a more evendischarge of cut grass.

8. Whenyou mow large areas,start by turning to the right so that the cut grass will discharge away from shrubs, fences, driveways,etc. After one or two rounds, mow in the opposite direction making left turns until finished (Figure 18).

9. If the grass is very high, cut two times to decreasethe load on the engine. Firstcut with the mower housing in the highest position and then lower the mower housing

for the second cut.

10. For better engine performance and an evendischarge of the cut grass, alwaysoperate the engine with the

throttle in FASTposition.

11. Whenyou usea bagger,operatethe engine with the throttle in FASTposition and the speed control pedal pushed 1/3 forward.

12. For better cutting performance and a quality cut, mow with the speed control pedal pushed 1/3 to 1/2 forward.

13. After eachuse, clean the bottom and top of the mower housing for better performance. Also, a clean mower housing will help prevent a fire.

Inspection

How to Checkthe Muffler Checkthe muffler every50 hours. Makesure the muffler is

correctly mounted and is not loose. If the muffler is worn or burnt, replacewith a new muffler. A worn muffler is a fire hazardand can also damagethe engine.

If you mount a spark arrester to the muffler, also check the spark arrester when you checkthe muffler. If the spark arrester isworn or damaged,replace it with a newspark arrester. Seeyour nearestauthorized service centerfor a spark arrester.

Inspect Blade

How to Remove and Installthe Blade

1. Removethe mower housing. Seethe instructions on "How To RemoveThe Mower Housing".

3. Removethe nut that holdsthe blade (Figure19).

8. Fastenthe blade with the original washers and nut. Make sure the outside rim of the Bellevillewasher is

against the blade (Figure 20).

9. Tighten the nut that holds the bladeto a torque of 35 foot pounds (47,5 N-m).

Adjustments

How to Checkand Adjust the PTOClutch Checkthe PTOclutch adjustment after the initial 25 hour

break-in period and then after every 250 hours of operation. Also perform the following procedure if the clutch is slipping or will not engage,or if a new clutch has beeninstalled.

,_ WARNING:Beforeyou makeaninspection,

adjustment, or repair to the unit, disconnect the wire to the spark plug. Removethe wire from the spark

plug to prevent the engine from starting byaccident.

1. Removekey from ignition switch and disconnect spark plug wires to preventthe possibility of accidental starting while the PTOis beingadjusted.

2. Note the position of the 3 adjustment windows (A, Figures22 & 23) in the side of the brake plateandthe nylock adjustment nuts (B).

3. Insert a .016"-.018" (0,40-0,45mm) feelergauge (C, Figure23) through eachwindow, positioning the gauge

betweenthe rotor face andthe armature face as shown.

4. Alternatelytighten the adjustment nuts (B) until the rotor face and armature face just contactsthe gauge.

5. Checkthe windows for an equal amount of tension when the gauge is inserted and removed,and make any necessaryadjustments by tightening or loosening the adjustment nuts.

How to Checkand Adjust the Motion Drive Belt If the motion drive belt is loose, the belt will slip when; (1)

going up a hill, (2) pulling a heavyload, or (3) the unit will not move forward. Adjust the belt asfollows.

_ ARNING:Beforeyou make an inspection,

adjustment, or repair to the unit, disconnect the wire to the spark plug. Removethe wire from the spark

plug to prevent the engine from starting byaccident.

1. Checkthe routing of the motion drive belt. Makesure the belt is installed correctly and is inside all the belt guides.

2. Disconnectthe clutch link from the idler arm (Figure

24).

3. Align the hole in the brake lever with the hole in the frame. Hold the brake lever in placewith a1/4 inch (6 ram) pin or bolt (Figure25).

4. Rotatethe clutch link until the mounting hole in the clutch link is alignedwith the hole in the idler arm as

shown in Figure24.

5. Connectthe clutch link to the idler arm (Figure 24).

6. Removethe 1/4 inch (6 ram) pin or bolt (Figure 25).

How to Checkand Adjust the Drive Brake Completely push the brakepedal forward. Setthe parking

brake. Move the automatic drive disconnect to the PUSH position. Push the unit. If the rearwheels rotate, adjust or

replacethe brake pads.Adjust the drive brake asfollows.

1. The location of the drive brake is on the right side of the gearbox (Figure 26).

2. Make sure the parking brake is setandthe automatic drive disconnect is in the PUSHposition. Turn the

hex nut in a clockwise direction until the rearwheels do not turn when the unit is pushedforward.

3. Releasethe parking brake and push the unit. Ifthe unit does not roll, turn the hex nut in a counterclockwise

direction until the unit rolls.

4. Set the parking brake. Push the unit. If the rear wheels do not turn, the drive brake is correctly adjusted. Releasethe parking brake.

_ WARNING:Ifyou cannot correctly adjust the drive

brake, replacethe brakepads. Correct replacement parts and assistanceareavailablefrom an authorized

servicecenter.

How to Remove the Battery To charge or cleanthe battery, remove the battery from the

unit as follows.

_ ARNING:To prevent sparks, disconnect the black

batterycablefrom the negative(-) terminal before

you disconnect the red cable.

_ ARNING:Thebattery contains sulfuric acid which is

harmful to the skin, eyes,and clothing. If the acid

gets on the body or clothing, wash with water.

1. Disconnectthe black cablefrom the negative (-) terminal (Figure27).

3. Lift the batterytray and the battery out of the unit.

How to Cleanthe Battery

1. Removethe battery.

2. Wash the battery with a solution of one gallon of water and four tablespoons of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Make sure the solution does not get into the battery cells.

3. Cleanthe terminals and the ends of the cableswith a wire brush.

4. Install the battery.

5. To prevent corrosion, apply greaseto the battery

terminals.

How to Install the Mower Deck

1. Push the mower deck under the right side of the unit.

2. Put the mower drive belt around the clutch pulley. Make sure the "V" side of the mower drive belt is

against the clutch pulley. Also, make sure the mower drive belt is not twisted. Seeillustration "F".

3. Attach the front hanger to the axlesupport with the hanger rod. Fastenwith the fasteners as shown. See

How to Adjust the GaugeWheels Theaxle bolts for the gauge wheels were mounted in the

LOWcut position. To changethe position of the gauge wheels, move the axlebolts as follows.

IMPORTANT:Beforeyou adjust the gauge wheels,you must do the following. Make sure the mower deck is level. Make

sure the height of cut is set at the height you want for your lawn. Mow a short distance on a flat levelareaand look at

the areathat was cut. If the mower deck does not cut level, seethe instructions "How To LevelThe Mower Deck."

3. Look at eachgaugewheel bracket. There are3 holes in eachbracket and a number nextto each hole.The

number for the height of cut position on the deck lift lever indicates the correct hole to useon eachgauge

wheel bracket (Figure 34).

4. Assemblethe axle bolts to the gaugewheel brackets using the correct hole in the bracket as indicated (Figure 34).

NOTE:If the height of cut position is changed bythe deck lift lever, you must move the gaugewheels to the correct hole

(Figure34) to keepa levelheight of cut.

How to Level the Mower Deck

If the mower deck is level,the bladewill cut easierandthe

lawn will look better.

,_ WARNING:Beforeyou makean inspection,

adjustment, or repair to the unit, disconnect the wire to the spark plug. Removethe spark plug wire to

preventthe engine from starting by accident.

1. Make sure the unit is on a hard flat surface.

2. Checkthe air pressure in the tires. If the air pressure is incorrect, the mower housing will not cut level. Make sure the tires are inflated to 14 PSI (1 BAR).

IMPORTANT:Onmodels equippedwith gaugewheels, the gaugewheels must be removed to correctly adjust the level

of the mower deck.

3. Some models have gauge wheels on the mower deck. If equipped, removethe gauge wheels.

4. Move the deck lift leverto the LEVELADJUSTMENT position (Figure 35).

,_ WARNING:Thedeck lift lever is spring loaded. Makesure the lift lever is locked in the LEVEL

ADJUSTMENTposition.

5. Loosenthe left and right adjuster knobs (Figure36). Push down on eachside of the mower deck. Make sure

both sides of the mower deckaresetting on a flat surface. Also, make surethe lift links are loose and can

easily move up or down.

6. Push down on the lift links and tighten the left and right adjuster knobs (Figure 36). Make sure the adjuster

knobs aretight. If necessary,use a wrench to tighten the adjuster knobs. Forplastic adjuster knobs, tighten

to a torque of 7 foot pounds (9,5 Nm). Formetal adjuster knobs, tighten to a torque of 10 foot pounds (13,5 Nm).

7. Raisethe deck lift lever from the LEVELADJUSTMENT position to a CUTTINGHEIGHTposition (Figure37).

8. If equipped, install the gaugewheels.

9. Mow for a short distance. If the height of cut is not level, repeatthe abovesteps.

CAUTION:Donot operatewith the mower deck in the LEVEL ADJUSTMENTposition. If you operatein the LEVEL ADJUSTMENTposition, the mower deck and bladescanbe

damaged.

3. To remove the primary mower drive belt from the left mandrel pulley, slide the primary mower drive belt betweenthe left mandrel pulley and the belt guides.

4. Pull the belt retainer awayfrom the idler pulley. Removethe primary mower drive belt from the idler pulley.

5. Removethe primary mower drive belt from the stack pulley.

NOTE:Replacethe primary mower drive belt with an original equipment beltfrom an authorizedservice

6. Install a new primary mower drive belt. Put the belt around the stack pulley. Makesure the primary mower drive belt is inside of the belt guide.

8. Put the secondarymower drive belt around the right mandrel pulley.

9. Pull the idler pulleytoward the front. Install the flat side of the secondary mower drive belt against the idler pulley.

10. Make surethe "V" side of the secondarymower drive belt is around the right mandrel pulley.

11. Assemblethe right pulley cover.

12. Put the primary mower drive belt around the stack pulley.

How to Install the Wheels If the wheels must be removedfor service, make sure they

are installed as follows. Front Wheel:

1. Make sure the valve stem is to the outside of the tractor. Slide the front wheel on the spindle (SeeFigure

39).

2. Fastenthe front wheel with washer and cotter pin. Bend the ends of the cotter pin apartto keep thefront wheel on thespindle.

3. If your model has hub caps, install the hub caps. Make sure the washers hold the hub caps in place.

1. Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are pointing straight forward. Align the hole in the sector gear with the hole in the steering plate (seeFigure 41).

2. To maintain alignment betweenthe sector gear and the steering plateduring this procedure, insert a 7/16 to 1/2 inch bolt or pin into the hole in the steering plate and through the steering sector gear (seeFigure 42).

3. First, check measurements A, B, C1, and C2(see Figure

42).

• MeasurementC1should be equalto C2.

• MeasurementA should be 1/4 inch less than B.

If the measurements are not correct, loosen the nut on

the spindle arm carriage bolt on either the left or the

right front spindle. Slightly move thewheel until the

measurementsare correct.

Again check measurementsA, B, C1, and C2. If correct, tighten the spindle arm carriage bolt and nut.

Next, check measurements D, E,F1and F2.

• MeasurementsF1should be equalto F2.

• MeasurementD should be 1/16 inch lessthan E.

If the measurements are not correct, loosen the jam

nuts on eachof the reartie rod ends (seeFigure 42).

Rotatethe tie rods until the measurementsare correct.

6. Again check measurements D, E,F1and F2. If correct, tighten the jam nuts on eachof the reartie rod end.

7. Removethe bolt or pin used in step 2.

If the fuse is blown, the engine will not start. Thelocation of the fuse is behind the panelbetweenthe engine and the control console. Removethe fuse and replacewith an automotive fuse of equivalent rating (Figure 43).

How to Replacethe Light Bulb

1. Raisethe tractor hood.

2. Turn the light socket until the tabs on the socket align with the notches in the bezel(Figure 44). Remove the light socket. Turn the light bulb and remove the bulb.

3. Install a new light bulb. Align the light socket with the notches in the bezeland turn the light socket to lock in

position.

,_ WARNING:Beforeyou cleanthe mower deck, stop

the engine and disconnect the wire to the spark plug.

Grass and other debris on top of the mower deck can keep the belt from working correctly. For safety and correct

operation, frequently clean the top of the mower deck. Removegrass and debris from around the pulleys and other moving parts.

However, if you do not feel safe, or if you are not completely sure, use this guide anddo not mow a slope that is greater than 15 degrees, if the riding mower is used with a pull-behind or rear mounted attachment,

do not operate the umt on a slope that is greater than 10 degrees. A 15 degree slope is a hill that increases in height at approximately 2.5 feet in 10 feet.

A 10 degree slope is a hill that increases in height at approximately 1.7 feet in 10 feet.

Use extreme care at all times, and avoid sudden turns or maneuvers. Follow other instructions in this manual for safety in mowing on

slopes. Operate a riding mower up or down slopes, never across the face of slopes. Operate a walk-behind mower across the face of slopes, never up or down slopes. Use extra care when operating on or near slopes and obstructions.

Sistemade Presenciadel Operario (Asiento) El asiento tiene un Sistema de Presenciadel Operario para

apagarel motor cuando el operario abandonael asiento. El sistema no est_ diseSadopara utilizarlo regularmentecomo m6todo de detenci6n del motor o la cuchilla(s). Antes de abandonarel aiento, mueva el control de rotaci6n de la cuchilla a pa posici6n DESACOPLADA,el cambio a punto muerto, ponga el freno de mano, y detengael motor.

C6mo comprobar los interruptores de interbloqueo de seguridad

Paracomprobar que los interruptores de interbloqueode

seguridadfuncionan, siga los siguientes pasos.

1. Compruebeel interruptor de control de rotaci6nde las cuchillas. Si6nteseen el asiento.Suelte el pedaldel freno/embrague.Muevaelcontrol de rotaci6n de la cuchilla a la posici6n de ACOPLADO.Girela Ilavede encendidoa la posici6n deARRANQUE.Elmotor no deberiaarrancar.Siel motor arranca,elinterruptor est_ defectuosoy deber_ser reemplazado.

Mueva el control de rotaci6n de la cuchilla a la posici6n de DESACTIVAR.Gire la Ilavede encendidoa la posici6n de ARRANQUE.El motor no deberia arrancar. Si el motor arranca, el interruptor est_ defectuoso y deber_ ser reemplazado.

4. Compruebeel interruptor de Corteen la Marcha Atrds (RMO). Si6nteseen el asiento. Suelteel pedal del freno/embrague. Mueva el control de rotaci6n de las cuchillas a la posici6n DESACOPLAR.Arranqueel motor y mueva el control de conducci6n ala posici6n de marcha atr_s (R). Conel motor en marcha, ueva el control de rotaci6n de la cuchilla a la posici6n de ACOPLADO.El motor deberia dejar de funcionar. Si el motor continua en marcha, el interruptor RMOest_ defectuoso y debe ser reemplazado.

C6mo preparar el motor NOTA:El motor fue enviado desdela f_brica Ileno de aceite.

Compruebeel nivel de aceite. Agregue aceitesi se necesita. NOTA:El funcionamiento de un motor nuevo producir_ en

ocasionesuna pequeSacantidad de humo. Estehumo est_ causado por la pintura o el aceiteque se halla en el

_ DVERTENCIA:No suba o baje pendientesque sean

muy empinadas para subir. Nunca conduzcala unidad a trav6s de una pendiente.Vea la "Gufa de Inclinaciones" enel reverso de este manualpara obtenerinformaci6n sobre como verificar pendientes.

1. Controle la velocidad 0nicamentecon el pedal de control develocidad. No utilice el pedalde freno en una

colina.

2. Para ayudara prevenir un accidente,mueva lentamente el pedalde control de velocidad. Evitegiros o cambios de velocidad repentinos.

3. Para reducir la velocidad directa cuando est6 bajando una colina, lentamentelibere el pedalde control de

Verifique la Cuchilla

C6mo Quitare Instalar la Cuchilla

1. Quite la cubierta de la segadora.Vealas instrucciones sobre "C6mo Quitar el Puentede la Segadora".

2. Utilice una piezade madera para impedir que la cuchilla rote.

3. Quiteel perno quesujeta la cuchilla (Figura 19).

5. Limpie el rondo y la parte superior de la cubierta de la segadora. Quitetodo el c6spedy desperdicios.

6. Monte la cuchilla y adaptadorde la cuchilla sobre el mandril (Figura 19).

7. Monte la cuchilla de modo quefilos superiores est6n haciaarriba. Si la cuchilla est_ volteada,la cuchilla no

2. Note la posici6n de las 3ventanasde ajuste (A, Figuras 22 y 23) a un lado del disco del freno y las tuercas de ajuste nylock (B).

3. Inserte un calibrador de separacionesde 0,40-0,45 mm (.016-.018 pulg.) (C, Figura23) atrav6sde cada ventana,posicionando el calibrador entreel lado del

rotor y el lado de la armaduracomo se muestra.

4. Ajuste alternativamentelas tuercasde ajuste (B) hasta que el lado del rotor y la armadura hagancontacto con

el calibrador.

5. Verifique que las ventanastengan igual cantidad de tensi6n cuandose inserta y retira el medidor, y haga los ajustes necesarios,apretando o aflojando las tuercas de ajuste.

NOTA:El vacio de aire actual entre el rotor y la armadura puedevariar a0n despu6s de Ilevar a cabo el

procedimiento de ajuste. Esto es debido a variaciones dimensionalesen partes de los componentes y es una

condici6n aceptable.

6. Compruebeel tiempo de detenci6n de las cuchillas de la segadora. Lascuchillas de la segadoray la bandade transmisi6n de la segadoradebendetenerse completamenteen cinco segundos despu6s de que se apagueel interruptor el6ctrico del PTO.

Verificaci6n del Freno de la Cuchilla

Lascuchillas de la segadoray la bandade transmisi6n de la

segadoradebendetenersecompletamente en cinco segundos despu6s de que seapague el interruptor el6ctrico del PTO.

1. Conel freno de parqueo activado, el PTOdesactivadoy el operador en el asiento, encienda el motor.

2. Vea que un asistente observe la banda de transmisi6n de la segadoraa trav6s de la aberturaentre el armaz6n

y la parte superior del puentede la segadora.Active el PTOy esperealgunos segundos. Desactiveel PTOy

verifique la cantidad de tiempo quetoma el que se detengala banda de transmisi6n delasegadora.

3. Si la banda de transmisi6n de la segadorano se detiene en cinco segundos, Ilevea cabo el Ajuste del Embrague PTO.Si la banda no se detiene completamentedentro de 5 segundos, acuda a su distribuidor.

Si la banda detransmisi6n de movimiento est_ suelta, la banda sedeslizar_cuando; (1) sesube una colina, (2) se hala una carga pesadao (3) la unidad no se mover_hacia delante.Ajuste la banda de la forma siguiente.

ajuste, o reparaci6n a la unidad, desconecteelcable de la bujia. Desconecteel cable de la bujia para

1. Verifique la direcci6n de la bandadetransmisi6n de movimiento. Cerci6resede que la banda est6 instalada correctamentey que est6dentro de las correderas de la

banda.

2. Desconecteel enlace del embraguedesde el brazolibre (Figura24).

3. Alinear el agujero en la palancade freno con el agujero en el armaz6n. Sostengala palancadelfreno en su sitio con un tornillo o perno de 1/4 de pulgada(6 ram) (Figura 25).

4. Roteel enlacedel embrague hasta que el agujero de montaje en el enlacedel embragueest6 alineado con el agujero en el brazosecundario como se muestra en la Figura24.

5. Desconecteelenlace del embrague desde el brazolibre (Figura 24).

6. Quite la perno o tornillo de 1/4 pulg. (6 ram) (Figura

25).

7. Si la banda a0n sedesliza luego de que se haajustado, entonces la bandade transmisi6n demovimiento est_

C6mo Comprobar y Ajustar el Freno Motor Empujeel pedal defreno haciaadelante por completo.

Coloqueel freno de parqueo. Muevala desconexi6nde la transmisi6n autom_tica hasta la posici6n EMPUJE.Empujela unidad. Si las ruedastraseras giran, ajuste o cambie las pastillas de freno. Ajuste el freno de la transmisi6n de la siguiente manera.

1. La ubicaci6n del freno de la transmisi6n est_ en el lateral derecho de la cajade cambio (Figura 26).

2. Aseg0resedequeest6accionadoelfreno de estacionamientoy de que la desconexi6nde la transmisi6n autom_tica est6 en la posici6n de EMPUJAR.Gire la tuerca hexagonal en la direcci6n de las agujas del reloj hasta que las ruedastraseras no giren al empujar hacia adelantela unidad.

3. Suelteel freno de estacionamientoy empujela unidad. Si la unidad no se mueve,gire la tuerca hexagonalenel

sentido contrario de las agujasdel reloj hasta que la unidad se mueva.

4. Coloqueel freno de estacionamiento. Empujela unidad. Si no giran las ruedastraseras, el freno de la transmisi6n est_ bien ajustado. Libereel freno de

estacionamiento.

1. Empujela plataforma del cortac6sped por debajodel lado derecho de la unidad.

Controle la presi6n de aire de los neum_ticos. Los neum_ticos con mucha presi6n de aire causar_n que la

unidad seconduzca bruscamente.Tambi6n, lapresi6n de

aire incorrecta impedir_ que el puentede la segadora corte

de modo uniforme. La presi6n de aire recomendadaes de 14 PSI (1 BAR)para ambos neum_ticos traseros y

delanteros.

2. Coloquela correa de tracci6n del cortac6sped alrededor de la poleadel embrague.Verifique queel lado en "V" de la correa de tracci6n del cortac6sped seencuentre contra la polea del embrague. Tambi6n,verifique que la correa detracci6n del cortac6spedno se encuentre

enroscada.Ver ilustraci6n "F".

3. Adjunte la barra de suspensi6n delanteraal soporte del eje con la varilla de la barra de suspensi6n. Ajuste con

los pasadorescomo se exhibe. Ver ilustraci6n "E".

Mantenimientode la Plataformadel Cortac_sped

C6mo retirar la Plataforma del Cortac6sped

1. Pulseel interruptor PTOa la posici6n de LIBERACION.

2. Abra la cubierta de posici6n de nivelde la plataforma, mueva la palancapara levantar la cubierta hasta la

posici6n de ajuste de nivel (Figura30).

4. Verifique que la correa del tracci6n del cortac6sped se encuentre entrela poleadel embraguey las dos guias

de la correa. Ver ilustraci6n "F".

5. Anexelos engranajesde suspensi6n a la unidad de izaje.Ajuste con las arandelasy clavijas. Ver

ilustraciones "A" y "B".

6. Ajuste los brazosde ajuste derecho e izquierdo a los

C6mo ajustar las ruedasdel medidor Los pernos del eje para las ruedasdel medidor est_n

montados en la posici6n del corte BAJO.Paracambiar la posici6n de las ruedasdel medidor, mueva los pernos del eje de la siguiente forma.

IMPORTANTE:Antes de ajustar las ruedasdel medidor, debe realizarlos siguiente. Verifique que la plataforma del

encuentren inflados a 14 PSI(1 BAR).

IMPORTANTE:Sobre aquellos modelos equipadoscon gomas de auxilio, las mismasse deben remover para ajustar

correctamenteel nivel de la cubierta de la cortadora.

lados de la cubierta de la cortadora seencuentren apoyadossobre una superficie plana.Adem_s,

aseg0resedequelos enlacesde elevaci6nse encuentrenflojos y se puedan mover haciaarriba o haciaabajo con facilidad.

6. Empuje hacia abajo losenlaces de elevaci6ny ajuste los pernos de ajuste derechos e izquierdos (Figura36).

Aseg0resedeque los pernos de ajuste seencuentren ajustados. Deser necesario, utilice unaIlaveinglesa para ajustar los pernos de ajuste. Parapernos de ajuste de pl_stico, ajuste a una torsi6n de 7 libraspi6 (9,5 Nm). Parapernos de ajuste de metal,ajuste a una torsi6n de 10 libraspi6 (13,5 Nm).

7. Levanteel elevadorde cubierta de la posici6n de AJUSTEDE NIVEL,a una ALTURA DECORTE

determinada (Figura37).

8. Si poseegomas de auxilio equipadas, remu6valas.

9. Corte el c6sped por un trecho corto. Si la altura de corte no se encuentra pareja, repita los pasos

anteriores.

PRECAUCIONES:No opere con la plataformadel cortac6sped en la posici6n AJUSTEDE NIVEL.Si opera en la posici6n AJUSTEDENIVEL,se puedendanarla plataforma del cortac6spedy las cuchillas.

2. Retire los tres tornillos de la cubierta de la polea izquierda.Retire la tapade la polea (Figura38).

3. Para retirar la correa de tracci6n primaria del cortac6sped desdela polea izquierdadela prensade sujeci6n, deslice la correa de tracci6n primaria del cortac6sped entre la poleaizquierda de la prensade sujeci6n y las guias de la correa.

4. Jaleel retenedor de la correaalej_ndolo de la polea

tensora. Retire la correa de tracci6n primaria del

cortac6sped desdela poleatensora.

5. Retire la correa de tracci6n primaria del cortac6sped desdela polea doble.

NOTA:Reemplacelacorrea de tracci6n primaria del cortac6sped con una correa original para el equipo proveniente de un centro de mantenimiento autorizado.

proveniente de un centro de mantenimiento autorizado.

7. Instale la nueva correa de tracci6n secundaria para el cortac6sped.Coloquelacorrea alrededor de la parte inferior de la poleadoble. Cerci6resedequelacorrea de tracci6n secundaria del cortac6sped este dentro de la gufa de la correa que esta pr6xima a la poleadoble.

8. Ponga la correa de tracci6n secundaria del cortac6sped alrededor de la polea de sujeci6n de la prensaderecha.

9. Jalela poleatensora apuntandohacia la partefrontal. Installe el lado piano de la correade tracci6n secundarfadel cortac6spedcontra la poleatensora.

10. Cerciorec6que el lado con la "V" dentro de la correade tracci6n secundaria del cortac6sped est6 alrededor de

2. Ajuste la ruedadelanteracon la arandelay el pasador de horquilla. Doble los extremosdel pasadorde horquilla alej_ndolos uno del otro para mantenerla

rueda delanteraen el huso.

3. Si el modelo tienetapa cubos, instale los tapacubos. Cercior6sede que las arandelasmantengan a los tapa

cubos en su ubicaci6n.

Si las mediciones no son correctas, afloje lastuercas de bloqueo situadasen cada uno de los extremos de

las varillas de uni6n (veala Figura42). Gire las varillas de uni6n hasta que las mediciones seancorrectas.

6. Revisede nuevo las mediciones D, E,F1 y F2.Si son correctas, apriete las tuercas de bloqueo situadas en

cadauno de los extremos de la varilla de uni6n.

7. Quiteel perno o la clavija que us6 en el paso 2.

C6mo Reemplazarla Bombilla de Luz

1. Levanteel capote del tractor.

2. Gire el soquete de luz usta que las guiasen el soquete est6n alineadascon los puntos sobresalientesen el

bisel (Figura 44). Retireelsoquetede luz. Gire la bombilla de luz y retire la bombilla.

3. Instale la nuevabombilla de luz. Aline el Isoquetede luz con los puntos sobresalientesen el bisel y gire el soquete de luz hasta cerrarlo en su posici6n.

C6mo limpiar plataforma de la cortadora de c6sped

,_ ADVERTENCIA:Antes de limpiar la plataforma dela

cortadora de c6sped,detenga el motor y desconecte el cablede la bujia.

Lahierbay otros desechosque est6n encima de la cubierta

En un cortac_sped de monta, para determinar si una pendiente puede ser cortada con seguddad: (1) desacople la(s) cuchilla(s), (2) ponga la unidad en sentido contrario, y (3) intente retroceder pendiente arriba. Si Vd. puede remontar Ja pendJente, ser_ pot Jo generM seguro cortar la hierba. Sin embargo, si no se siente compietamente seguro, siga esta guJa y no corte la hierba en pendientes cuya inclinacibn sea mayor de 15 grados. Si el cortac_sped de monta se utiliza con un accesorJo montado "pull-behind" o posterior, no utiJice la unidad en pendJentes cuya inclinacibn sea superior a 10 grados.

Una pendiente de 15% grados es la propia de una coiina que incrementa su altura en aproximadamente 0,6 m cada 3,05 m. Una pendiente de 10% grados es la propia de una colina que incrementa su altura en aproximadamente 0,5 m cada 3,05 m.

Emplee la mayor precauci6n en todo momento y evite giros y maniobras bruscas. Siga el resto de instrucciones de este manual en pro de ia seguridad cuando corte la hierba en pendientes. Utilice el cortac_sped de monta de arriba a abajo de la pendiente y nunca a Jo ancho de su tara.
