IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Before setting up and starting your snakebyte HDMI Selector please read this manual thoroughly. If you comply with all instructions and tips, operating the selector is pretty easy and comfortable. Please retain this manual for future reference.
If you don’t want to lose your warranty please refrain from opening the HDMI selector – there are no user serviceable parts inside anyway. Inappropriate handling does invalidate the warranty and often leads to utter demolition of the device. Therefore, any repairs have to be carried out by the customer service exclusively.
Never use another power supply than the one in scope of delivery. Utilization of third party power supplies invalidates the warranty – no matter what damage is done to the selector.
Keep your snakebyte HDMI Selector away from liquids and liquid containers such as vases, bottles, hot baths, jacuzzi tubs, etc. Besides the mortal danger, any damage occurring from liquids invalidates the warranty.

INTRODUCTION
Thank you very much!
Congratulations for purchasing the snakebyte HDMI Selector. We really appreciate your trust in our fine products. This selector was thoroughly assembled by skilled Chinese rocket scientists under constant quality inspection. Have fun with this useful tool. If you follow this manual, set up, operation, and basic maintenance of the HDMI selector is cakewalk. In case you encounter any problems exceeding this manual please contact your dealer or our friendly customer support (Address page 11)
HDMI in a nutshell
HDMI stands for “High Definition Multimedia Interface” and is a world-wide established standard for lossless transport and flawless playback of uncompressed digital video and audio data – via only one unique interface.
If you want to go deeper into the matter of HDMI we strongly recommend visiting the official home page of the HDMI licensing LLC www.hdmi.org. There you’ll find lots of information on the HDMI Founders and hundreds of HDMI Adopters plus many useful further facts.
What does my snakebyte HDMI Selector do?
The snakebyte HDMI Selector is the perfect solution when you want to connect more than one HDMI source (such as a DVD, HD DVD, or Blu-ray Disc™ Player, e.g. the Playstation®3) to a single HDMI receiver, i.e. a Plasma or LCD TV, a video projector, or an AV receiver. Additionally, the really annoying crawling behind dusty racks and shelves to unknot your cables and reconnect your hardware will be history. Besides the immense gain in convenience, your expensive connectors, sockets and jacks will therefore suffer less mechanical load.
Furthermore, the snakebyte HDMI Selector features a powerful signal equalizer that provides for highest signal quality even with a cable length of more than 10 m. (This is an approximate value measured in our technical labs. This value can differ depending on different bandwidths and the
3
quality of the connected cables. We recommend HDMI cables from our snakebyte Premium cable range.)
The signal equalizer renders the snakebyte HDMI Selector cascadable, i.e. it is daisy-chainable with other snakebyte HDMI selectors and even HDMI compliant switches from other manufacturers following the HDMI Licensing LLC. If you buy additional HDMI products please pay attention to this cascadability feature.

Annotations for use with signal sources featuring DVI exclusively:
To operate DVI gear with the snakebyte HDMI Selector please use either a customary DVI/HDMI adaptor (available in stores) in combination with standard HDMI cables, or DVI - HDMI cables. DVI (Digital Video Interface) is basically compatible with HDMI – only basically because it does not transport digital audio. Therefore, please use the corresponding optical ports of the HDMI Selector (applies to signal sources as well as play back devices).
Infrared remote control
1. ON/OFF-Button
2. Channel +/ - Buttons (functionally identical with button no. 4 on the HDMI Selector)
3. Equalizer +/- Buttons (functionally identical with button no. 5 on the HDMI Selector)

Security advices for placement and connection
• Place the HDMI Selector onto a stable and even surface. Ideally close-by your play back device countervailing long cable distances.
• Avoid contact with any liquids as this may lead to short-circuit and further damage. Keep the HDMI Selector away from vases, open bottles, buckets, etc. – or vice versa.
• The same counts for burning objects such as candles, cigarettes, ashtrays, etc. Fire, heat and wax may damage the Selector.
• Although the snakebyte HDMI Selector does not emit high operating temperatures, please make
6
sure that the device is aerated to prevent heat accumulation (e.g. when placing the device in a closet).
• Make sure that the device is not exposed to direct sunlight. Always keep it in a safe distance from heat sources, e.g. radiators.
• All connected cables should be strain-relieved. Strained cables may damage sockets and/or plugs.
• To clean the snakebyte HDMI Selector, use a soft cloth or a static duster. Do not use cleaning agents. Always unplug the power supply before cleaning.
• In case of extraordinary thermal fluctuation, e.g. after transport by mail, make sure that the HDMI Selector has enough time for acclimatization before operating the device. Extreme thermal fluctuation can lead to condensation inside the device which in turn can damage the HDMI Selector.
• Before connecting or disconnecting a cable, please switch off the device and unplug the power supply.
Connecting the snakebyte HDMI Selector
1. Connect the HDMI input of your HDMI complying play back device to the HDMI Selector’s output
with a HDMI cable (one cable included).
2. Connect the HDMI sources with the HDMI Selector’s inputs of your choice.
3. Do not connect the provided power supply and switch on the HDMI Selector until you have
connected ALL HDMI devices. Utilization of third party power supplies invalidates the warranty – no matter what damage is done to the selector.
Make sure that all plugs are strain-relieved and tightly connected to their sockets. Over a longer period, mechanical tension may damage the sockets.
Your snakebyte HDMI selector is now ready for operation. Make sure that your signal sources and your play back device operate in HDMI mode.

Initial operation
1. Push the ON/OFF button of the remote control (Nr.1, fig. B) or on the front panel of the HDMI
Selector (Nr.3, fig. C) to activate the device.
2. Now, the STANDBY indicator (Nr.2, fig. C) turns from red to green. The LED of input channel
1 will light green as well.
3. After a few seconds of initialization your play back device should play back the signal of the
source connected to channel 1. This latency is no cause for concern: HDMI source and HDMI play back device need this time for a firm handshake where the necessary copy protected connection (HDCP) is established.
4. Tune in the designated channel with the Channel +/- buttons on your remote control (Nr.2,
fig. B) or the ones on top of the HDMI Selector (Nr.1, fig. A).
5. If necessary optimize the digital signal with the built-in equalizer via your remote control (Nr.3,
fig. B), or via the buttons on top of the device (Nr.2, fig.A). A short blinking of the active LED confirms this action.
