Important, Read Me First:
• Please note that this keyboard is compatible with Bluetooth Hid enabled computers with Windows, Mac and Linux
systems in addition to Bluetooth tablets. However, due to the
many different operating systems used in tablet PC’s including
iPad and iPad 2, the F1 through F12 keys, some of the Fn
shortcut media keys and Ctrl, Alt, Control, Command, Option
compound keys on this keyboard may not be supported by
your tablet.
• The following keys are universal and supported by
all platforms:
o All alphabets
o The top row numeric keys
o Symbols
o Shift
o CapsLock
o Back Space
o Delete
o The 4 directional arrow keys
• Some wireless service providers may have locked out the

tablet’s Bluetooth HID prole, which is required to connect to
any Bluetooth keyboard. If this happens with your tablet,
you may request a patch le from your wireless service
provider to allow connection between your tablet and your
Bluetooth keyboard.
Installing Batteries (Supplied)
• Remove the battery cover from the bottom of the keyboard.
• Insert the two AA batteries (included in the package) to the
battery slots. Make sure the positive (+) and negative (-)
ends of the batteries match the polarity markings inside the
battery compartment.
• Snap the battery cover back into position.
• Turn on the power by placing the on/off switch to
“ON” position.
• Your keyboard is ready to be connected to your Bluetooth
Tablet (or computer.)

Do not mix new and used batteries in the keyboard. Always replace with 2 batteries of

Note: some of the Tablet OS, ie. Android, may not support the
LED indicator lights.
Num Lock – switch to numeric keys
Caps Lock – switch to capital letters
Pairing – ready to pair with the host

Setting up Bluetooth Connection
• Before you can use Bluetooth devices for the rst time you
must connect your devices through a standard set of
discovery mode and pairing processes.
• Please review the documentation that comes with your system
for any specics regarding your Bluetooth system, or
consult with your system vendor if you cannot nd the
Bluetooth connectivity in your system.
• The ID button is conveniently located at the bottom of the
keyboard. Press it to enter discovery and pairing mode when
you are ready to connect the keyboard to your Bluetooth
Tablet or system.
Connecting to iPad
1. Power on the keyboard by sliding the on/off switch to the
ON position.
2. Power on your iPad, tap on “Settings” and choose
“General”. Tap “Bluetooth” and switch ON the
Bluetooth connection.
3. Press the ID button on the back of the keyboard to enter
discovery mode. The Pairing LED on the keyboard ashes
blue indicating it’s ready to be discovered.
4. When the SMK-Link Bluetooth Keyboard is listed on the

iPad Bluetooth menu, tap on the keyboard name and the
iPad will prompt you for a PIN. Enter the PIN code
provided by iPad in the pop up window and press ENTER
key on your Bluetooth keyboard.
5. The Bluetooth keyboard status on the iPad’s Bluetooth
devices menu changes to “Connected”. The keyboard’s
Pairing LED light will go off. Your keyboard is connected to
the iPad.
6. When the keyboard is powered off, the Bluetooth keyboard
status on the iPad’s Bluetooth devices menu will change to
“Not Connected”. To reconnect, simply power on the
keyboard, wait a few seconds for the iPad to reconnect
to the keyboard and the status will automatically change to
“Connected” and the keyboard is now ready.
Connecting to Other Tablet Systems
1. Power on the keyboard by sliding the on/off switch to the
ON position.
2. Power on your tablet, turn on Bluetooth connection.
3. Press the ID button on the back of the keyboard to enter
discovery mode. The Pairing LED on the keyboard ashes
blue indicating it’s ready to be discovered.
4. Follow the instructions on your tablet, select the SMK-Link
Bluetooth Keyboard and your tablet will prompt you for
a PIN. Enter the PIN code as directed and press ENTER key
on your Bluetooth keyboard.
5. The Bluetooth keyboard is now connected to your tablet and
the keyboard’s Pairing LED light will go off.

1. Power on the keyboard by sliding the on/off switch to the
ON position.
2. Make sure your computer’s Bluetooth is turned on.
3. Click the Bluetooth icon located on your desktop or in the
system bar.
4. Or, click the Apple icon and select System Preferences, then
click on the Bluetooth icon.
5. Select Turn Bluetooth On to enable Bluetooth for your
Macintosh computer if it’s not already on.
6. Select Set Up New Device. Bluetooth Setup Assistant screen

will show up. Click Continue.
7. Press the ID button on the back of the keyboard to enter
discovery mode. The Pairing LED on the keyboard ashes
blue indicating it’s ready to be discovered.
8. The screen will ask you for the device type. Select
Keyboard from the device list and click Continue.
9. Your computer will search for Bluetooth devices in the
range (within 33 feet or 10 meters) and list each device
on the screen. Select SMK-Link Bluetooth Keyboard and
click Continue.
10. The Wizard will provide you with a passkey. Use your

Bluetooth keyboard to enter the numbers displayed on
the screen, followed by pressing the enter key on
your keyboard.
11. On the Conclusion screen, click Quit to exit setup. Your
Bluetooth keyboard is successfully installed.

1. Power on the keyboard by sliding the on/off switch to the
ON position.
2. Make sure your computer’s Bluetooth is turned on.
3. From the system tray located at the lower right-hand
corner of your screen click on the Show Hidden Icons
button to reveal the full list of options. Right click on the
Bluetooth icon.
4. Select and click on Add a Device.
5. Press the ID button on the back of the keyboard to enter
discovery mode. The Pairing LED on the keyboard ashes
blue indicating it’s ready to be discovered.
6. The Bluetooth keyboard will be displayed on the screen

when it’s discovered by the computer. Select the keyboard
icon and click Next. (Note: Depending on the system’s
signal strength, it may require more than one try to
discover the keyboard. If needed, repeat these steps until
the keyboard is discovered.)
7. Using the Bluetooth keyboard to type the passkey provided
by your system on the screen, press Enter on your keyboard
and click Next.
8. The system accepts the passkey; your keyboard is now
connected to your Bluetooth computer.

The keyboard is designed with the following power management
features to conserve battery power:
• Power-saving mode
When carrying the keyboard around, it’s best to turn the
power off to conserve battery power. During operation, the
keyboard will automatically enter into power-saving (sleep)
mode after 30 minutes of idle to preserve power. To reactivate
the keyboard, simply press any key to wake up. Please note
that it takes a few seconds for Bluetooth to wake up.
• Reconnect keyboard to the system
When keyboard is reactivated, it automatically reconnects
itself to the Bluetooth Tablet or system. The process may take
up to several seconds depending on the system.
• Bluetooth Class 2 Transmission Range
This keyboard is designed with authentic Broadcom Bluetooth
Class 2 chip set with up to 33 ft / 10 meters radius of reliable
transmission range without line of sight. Please make sure the
keyboard is placed within range from the host Tablet or
system. If operation is halted due to keyboard being placed
out of range, connection will resume once the keyboard is
brought within the range from the host Tablet or system.
• Power-low Indicator
The BAT. indicator LED ashes when battery power is low.
Please replace both batteries at your earliest convenience to
prevent power interruption.

• Please note that while the Fn shortcut keys are fully supported
in Windows and Macintosh OS, they may not function in
iPad and other Tablet systems due to the design of the iOS
and the other mobile operating systems for the tablets.
• The F1 through F12 keys on the keyboard are not supported
by iPad and the various Tablet systems due to the nature of
the OS. They are fully supported by Windows and Mac OS.

Warranty:
SMK-LINK warrants to the original end-user purchaser of the Product (“you”)
that the Product, excluding batteries, will be free from defects in materials or
workmanship under normal use and service for one-year from date of purchase.
Dated invoice or sales receipt is necessary to accompany the Product returned for
warranty service consideration. Any Product repaired or replaced under the terms
of the warranty is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or
ninety (90) days from the date of service or return shipping, whichever is longer.
If the Product becomes defective in materials or workmanship during the warranty
period, SMK-LINK will, at its option, either repair or replace it with a more current
or upgraded model if the originally purchased model is not available.
This warranty does not cover products which have been subjected to misuse,
accident, physical damage, improper installation, abnormal operation or
handling, neglect, inundation or re, or when product regulatory label has
been removed, altered or rendered illegible; nor does it cover accessory and
consumable items. In no case shall SMK-LINK be liable for any indirect special,
incidental, or consequential damages based upon breach of warranty, breach of
contract, negligence, strict tort or any other legal theory. Such damages include,
but are not limited to, loss of prots, loss of savings or revenues, inability to use
the product or any associated equipment, cost of capital, cost of any substitute
equipment, facilities or services, claims by third parties other than you, and injury
to property. SMK-LINK’s total liability for damages for any cause related to, or
arising out of the use or inability to use the product, shall not exceed the original
price paid for the product even if SMK-LINK has been informed of such possibility.
