NOTE: Please read this information before installing. Check components received with components listed
above. NO DRILLING REQUIRED for installation of these Sure-Step side bars. To obtain correct
installation, we recommend you to follow these step by step installation instructions carefully. Please take
care when installing this product to protect the finish and your investment.
Step One: Check contents of the hardware listed below.

2 M12-1.75 x 140mm hex bolts, zinc plated GR5
2 M12-1.75 x 40mm hex bolts, zinc plated GR5
2 M12 –1.75x 50mm hex bolts, zinc plated GR5
4 M12 hex nuts, zinc plated
12 M12 flat washers, zinc plated
8 M12 split lock washers, zinc plated
4 3” plastic rings, (black)
1 front support bracket, left side
1 front support bracket, right side
1 front backup bracket, left side
1 front backup bracket, right side
1 rear support bracket left side
1 rear support bracket right side
Step Two: Locate one TN1140-S4L or TN1080-S4L side bar, one front support bracket, left side support
bracket, one front backup bracket, left side bracket, one rear support bracket left side bracket, two #30 plastic
rings, two M12x50mm hex bolts, two M12 flat washers, and two M12 split lock washers. Using the hardware
listed in this step, secure the brackets and rings to the side bar as shown in fig #2. Do not fully tighten hardware at
this time
Step Three: (REAR) Locate one M12 x 40mm hex bolt, one M12 hex nut, two M12 flat washers, one M12 lock
washer. Position the side bar under the left side of the vehicle. Place the rear support bracket up to the side of the

frame as shown in fig #1. Secure the side bar to the frame with the hardware listed in this step. Do not fully
tighten the hardware at this time.
Step Four: (FRONT) Locate one M12 x 140mm hex bolt, one M12 hex nut, two M12 flat washers, one M12 lock
washer and one 801594 sleeve. Position the front support bracket up to the side of the frame. Align the large hole
in the bracket with the hole in the side of the frame and secure the bracket to the frame temporarily with the
hardware listed in this step as shown in fig #2. Using the remaining hole in the support bracket as a guide, mark
the backside of the cab support bracket.
Step Five: Locate two M10 bolts, two M10 hex nuts, three M10 flat washers and two M10 lock washers. Using
the hardware listed in step four and five, secure the front support brackets to the frame as shown in fig #2. Fully
tighten all hardware at this time.
Step Six: Repeat steps two through five on the opposite side of vehicle.

Be sure to use all hardware supplied and tighten all bolts.
IMPORTANT: side bars have a 300 lb. weight capacity. To protect your investment, wax this product after
installing. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish.

Cleaning and Maintenance
To protect your investment, wax this product after installing. Regular waxing is recommended to add a
protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives that
could damage the finish.
For stainless steel: Aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs on the finish.
Mild soap, window or glass cleaner may be used also.
For gloss black finishes: Mild soap, window and glass cleaner may be used.
LIMITED WARRANTY
Smittybilt (The Company) warrants to the original purchaser of this product that should the product or any
part thereof, under normal use and conditions, be proven defective in material or workmanship within the
warranty period of 5 years from the date of purchase, such defect(s) will be repaired or replaced (At the
Company’s option) without charge for parts or labor. To obtain repair or replacement within the terms of the
warranty, the product is to be delivered with proof of warranty coverage ( e.g. dated bill of sale, receipt),
specification of defect, freight pre-paid with Returns Good Authorization Number from Smittybilt to place of
purchase. Items returned to Smittybilt without a Returns Authorization Number will be refused and returned
to sender at the senders’ expense.
This warranty does not apply to any product or part thereof which, in the opinion of the Company, has
suffered or been damaged through altercation, improper installation, mishandling, misuse, neglect accident or
acts of nature. THE EXTENT OF THE COMPANY’S LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS
LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT PROVIDED ABOVE AND, IN NO EVENT,
SHALL THE COMPANY’S LIABILITY EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE PAID BY THE
PURCHASER FOR THIS PRODUCT.
This warranty is in lieu of all expressed warranties and liabilities. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY
IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS WRITTEN
WARRANTY. ANY ACTION FOR BREACH OF ANY WARRANTY HEREUNDER INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY MUST BE BROUGHTH WITHIN A PERIOD OF 90 DAYS FROM DATE OF
ORIGINAL PURCHASE.IN NO CASE SHALL THE COMPANY BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR
INCIDENTAL DAMAGES FOR BREACH OF THIS OR ANY OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESSED OR
IMPLIED,WHATSOEVER. No person or representative is authorized to assume for the company any liability other than expressed
herein in connection with the sale of this product. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the
exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damage, therefore above limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives
the purchaser specific legal rights. The purchaser may have additional rights, which vary from state to state.
