SMC Networks’ SMCGS501P 5-port 10/100/1000M desktop PoE switch provides seamless network connections, integrating
1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet network capabilities. The PoE port can automatically detect and supply
power to IEEE 802.3af/at-compliant Powered Devices (PDs). PoE electrical power is transmitted along with data in a single
cable, allowing a network to expand where there are no power lines or outlets, to where you want to install devices such as
APs, IP cameras, or IP phones etc. The SMCGS501P also supports IGMP snooping v1/v2 to enable smooth video streaming.
Key Features and Benefits
PoE Features
The SMCGS501P provides power to attached devices,
such as VoIP phones, wireless access points, surveillance
cameras etc, all over existing Cat. 5 cables. The switch
provides one PoE port that supports up to 15.4/30 W
(802.3af/at), depending on device needs. The total PoE
power budget for the switch is 30 W. If attached devices
draw over 30W, the switch provides a network function
only. When using the PoE function, port LEDs indicate
PoE power. The switch eliminates the need for individual
power sources for devices in the network, saving on costs
for power cables and avoiding power outlet availability
issues.
Plug-and-Play
The switch is completely plug and play; no configuration is
necessary. The plug-and-play switch is an ideal choice for
integrating Fast Ethernet and boosting LAN bandwidth for
small to medium-sized workgroups.
Auto MDI/MDI-X on Each Port
Support for Auto-MDI/MDIX means that no crossover cables
are required. Straight-through cables can be used for all
connections.

Fanless Design
The SMCGS501P's simple design does not include any
cooling fans, enabling the unit to run completely silently
and reliably in whatever location it is installed.
IGMP Snooping v1/v2
The switch supports IGMP snooping v1/v2 to enable
smooth video streaming.
