100 Mbps – ten times faster than traditional LAN cards. Full-duplex support enables a doubling of the data rate to 200 Mbps. SMC’s innovative,fixed-port (dongle-less) design assures a more durable connection and eliminates concerns about fragile connectors. This fixed-port PC card is perfect for Internet connections using cable and DSL modems. With its single slot design, the SMC8040TX works great even in slim laptops, and provides the flexibility to utilize additional slots. The new card offers 16-bit performance and also operates in 32-bit mode. It runs under all popular Network Operating Systems. Its auto-negotiation capability makes backward compatibility a non-issue.

The new SMC 8040TX card comes with drivers that ensure ease of use in a wide range of networking environments,including Novell Netware,Microsoft LAN Manager,and TCP/IP. I ts Card & Socket Services (CSS) feature provides trouble-free intranet connections for users.

The card is a plug-and-play device and can be easily installed under Windows 95/98/NT or 2000 in just minutes.An installation,utility and diagnostics program is included to facilitate setup in laptops that run with DOS or Netware Client.
