The EZ Card™ Fast Ethernet PCI Card with Personal Firewall
(SMC1255TX) combines the high performance of a 10/100
Mbps network adapter and the functionality of a full­featured firewall into one perfect solution. The EZ Card™ PCI
Adapter comes with two free software applications – SMC
Etherguard Personal Firewall and WinEtool Personal Sniffer.
The SMC Etherguard application provides an efficient software
firewall that can filter traffic based on website name, IP
address, and TCP/UDP protocol, while the WinEtool application
monitors your network traffic with a built-in Wake-on-LAN
packet generator and packet analysis tool. These tools monitor
each packet of data as it is sent through your network.

To provide a superior network connection, the EZ Card™ Fast
Ethernet PCI Card supports full-duplex communication, auto­negotiation, Wake-on-LAN (WOL), flow control, and a 32-bit
data transfer mode. Developed using the latest in bus-master
architecture, this SMC 10/100 Adapter reduces CPU utilization
while optimizing performance and throughput. The EZ Card™
Fast Ethernet PCI Card auto-configures itself on power-up to
provide an easy installation. For network management, this
latest adapter features a "Remote LAN Wakeup" option for
remote management and an optional Boot ROM socket to
enable network booting from a diskless workstations. For
connectivity, this SMC Adapter uses a single RJ-45 connector

for both data rates, making it a simple and cost-effective solution
to help future-proof your network at both the home and office.

The EZ Card™ Fast Ethernet PCI Card with Personal Firewall
(SMC1255TX) provides a solid network connection while the
included software, SMC Etherguard Personal Firewall and
WinEtool Personal Sniffer, protects and manages your
network. SMC Etherguard, the personal firewall application,
records both the IP address of individuals attempting to
access your network and previously visited websites. In
addition, this software will also block Trojan Horses from
destroying your files. The WinEtool Sniffer application
monitors and tracks all of the activity on your network to
ensure that intruders are kept out. All of this important net­work traffic information and these various configuration
options are accessible through an easy-to-use software interface.
To configure this new Ethernet connection, just connect the
SMC EZ Card™ Fast Ethernet PCI Card to an Ethernet hub or
switch and it will automatically operate at 10 Mbps. When you
need additional bandwidth, simply connect the adapter to a
Fast Ethernet device and it will automatically change its
throughput to 100Mbps. Combine all of these features and
functionality with SMC’s award-winning technical support and
service, you have the perfect network adapter for any situation.
