Brief introduction of SmartMow Series-1
The SmartMow uses advanced environmental-friendly rechargeable Libatteries. SmartMow mainly adapts to lawn care of family and public lawns. It moves automatically in circles and lines with high efficiency in a short time.
The SmartMow adopts Magnetic Field Induction to make the realization of automatic navigation. It searches for the base station automatically when the power is low, and continues cutting when it is fully charged.
The SmartMow has an automotive anti-collision system and an Infrared Sensor System that helps to change direction before hitting obstacles.
The SmartMow also advanced rain induction system. When the rain sensor senses the rain, the machine goes back to the base station automatically.
The SmartMow is safely designed. After switching the unit to the “On” position you have to use the IC card that makes the mower start to work.
The blades will stop rotating if the mower is lifted up and the automatic security protection and check system will turn off the power automatically when it is overloaded.
Starting your SmartMow
Open the box and check all the components there should be. The plastic and the metal objects should be out of children's reach.
Perimeter wire setup
Start with placing the perimeter wire provided on the ground according to your plan.
If
the
area outside the immediate perimeter has obstacles or differences in the height along the perimeter edge, then the minimum distance from the wire to the obstacles is 30cm.
If the area outside the immediate perimeter is free of obstacles and is the same relative height as the perimeter edge or lower, you can fix the wire at the edge of the lawn.
Circle the tree or other obstacles in the lawn with the perimeter wire.
Important
Ensure the minimum distance: 30cm (from the perimeter wire to the obstacles besides the lawn)
Ensure the bending angle of the wire at least 100 degree
Pull the perimeter wire as straight as possible.
Do the following:
Fasten and hold the perimeter wire to the ground, below the grass level (we recommend the pegs be used every 1 meter). Please hide the wire in the grass as close to the grass roots as possible to avoid the wire being cut by the mower.
Upon hammering the peg to its final depth in the ground, pull the wire tight
The base station
Important
Ensure that the base station is put at the open area where is also easy to connect to the electricity outlets.
Ensure that the base station is placed in clockwise direction along the perimeter wire
Connect the ends of the perimeter wire to holes of the base station.
There must be no obstacles right ahead of the base station.
Place the base station at least 3m from corners to ensure that the mower can successfully go back to the station for charging, or it may fail to charge automatically.
Do the following:
Please make sure the perimeter wire is buried as indicated:
Put two pieces of height adjusters at the bottom of the base station.
Connect the ends of the perimeter wire to holes of the base station.
The perimeter wire goes along the wireways and through the center of the bottom.
Fix the base station with the stakes.
Then after, the base station looks as follows:
▲ The power supply connects to the base station and the electricity outlets respectively. ▲ Use the electrical power indicated on the label only. If you are not sure about the power type, please inquire the located Electricity Generating Board. ▲ Use the batteries provided by the manufacturer only. ▲ Use the charger and base station provided by the manufacturer only. ▲ Do not use the charger with damaged cord or plug. ▲ It can charge outside. ▲ Do not touch the cord and plug with wet hands. ▲ Power the base station on, the led turning green shows it is in motion; during the process of charging, the led is red, and when the machine is fully charged, the led turns red and green in alternation. The other led is red. When it is on, it shows the perimeter wire might be loose; when it is off, then the whole is in normal work.
Charging of the SmartMow
The SmartMow can be charged automatically and manually.
Automatic charging means that when the machine is in work, it self can inspect the electricity power, and go back to the base station for charging automatically if the power is low.
Manual charging is that when the power is off; put the plug of the charger to the mower, the other to the electricity outlets. Remember to take off the rubber-isolator first.
Do the following:
Automatic charging: The machine automatically goes back to the base station along the perimeter wire. Now the led of the charger is red, and the led of the base station is red. After it is fully charged, it will go back to mowing the lawn.
Manual charging: Be sure that the power is off. After taking off the rubberisolator, connect one side of the charger to mower, the other to the electricity outlets.
When the charger is in motion, the led of the charger is red, and it turns to green when fully charged.
Before cutting
1. Pick up debris (branches, stones) before you start to mow your lawn.
2. The robot mower works only in the scope of the area rounded by the perimeter wire. Ensure that you have buried the wire well.
3. Observe the mower in use for the first time. Be sure that it won’t get trapped in the lawn.
Power on and off
Power on
1. Ensure that the perimeter wire and base station is ready to work.
2. Place the mower in the open area of the lawn.
3. Turn on the power button.
4. The red led on the top of the mower shows that the machine is in motion.
5. Use the IC card in the certain place to make the mower start to work.
Do the following:
When turning the power button on, you can hear a sound.
The red led on the top of the mower is on.
Now the machine is in motion, use the IC card in the induction place and you will hear a sound and then the mower starts to work.
Power off Press the ‘power off’ button to stop the machine.
The functions of the remote control
1. Turn left
2. Go back to the base station for charging
3. Turn right
4. Power on / off
▲ Press button1, the mower turns left for 90 degree; press button3, the mower turns right for 90 degree; press button2, the mower goes back to the base station along the perimeter wire and after it is fully charged, the mower returns to the lawn cutting; press button4, the mower buzzes and stops working, press it again, the mower restarts to work. The led is red whenever you press the buttons.
▲ Try not to use the remote control when the mower is moving on or near the perimeter wire. ▲ The battery type is
12V27A, and it is for the remote control use only.
Adjusting of cutting height
The mower has 3 blades working together. The blades are fixed on the adapter with flexible shims. The lowest cutting height is 3.5cm.
If you have bought a robot mower, you can adjust the cutting height yourself. First, take off 3 inner hex screws and then, change the positions of shims and blades. At last, tightly fix the inner hex screws to avoid potential risks.
ATTENTION:
Blade1 and 2 are screwed tightly in clockwise direction while blade3 is in the counter clockwise direction.
You can also adjust the blades as follows:
The sequence of installation is: blades and adapter, shims, inner hex screws Please fix the screws tightly after adjusting.
You can also take apart the outer big wheel to use the inner small ones to adjust the cutting height
Instructions for quick operation
Prepare the area before cutting, according to the instructions for the perimeter wire and base station.
The Perimeter Wire Bury the perimeter wire according to the shape of the lawn. If there are walls, fences or steps besides the lawn, then the minimum distance from the lawn to these obstacles is 30cm; if there isn’t, we can fix the wire at the edge of the lawn.
Please make sure not to exceed an angle of 100 degrees when bending the perimeter wire and follow any curves and closely as possible.
The Base Station
Place the base station in the open area where it is easy to connect to electricity outlets. Install the height adjuster first and then connect the two ends of the perimeter wire to the base station. Be sure that the wire goes through the right center of the station’s bottom. There should be no obstacles right in front of the base station and ensure that there be 3-5meters of straight wire ahead of the station.
One end of the charger connects to the base station and the other connects to the electricity outlets. Be sure that the charger is in fine situation. Put the robot mower in the rounded area, turn the power button on, and use the IC card in the induction place, then the mower starts to work.
Description of Operation
The machine starts to cut in circles first. If it hits something, it will turn directions by its automotive anti-collision system, as well as the Infrared Sensor System. If the front wheel is lifted up, the blades stop working within 3 seconds. If the holding time is more than 8 seconds, the whole machine stops working.
When the mower moves near the perimeter wire, the mower can inspect the magnetic field of the wire and automatically go around the hedge in a circle, then go down the hedge in the clockwise direction and start automatic mowing. The Infrared Sensor System and charging controlling system can detect whether the mower has reached the base station or not. When the mower reaches the station, it comes from the perimeter wire and returns to the cutting area and mows in a random way.
When the mower comes to the area where the grass is thick, it begins to mow in circles; if the blades are obstructed the machine stops working.
During the mowing process, you can use the remote control to make the mower turn left/right, or go back to the base station for charging. If there are places that mower can not reach to, you can use the remote control to adjust the direction.
The mower can sense the battery level itself. If it is under a set value, the mower will automatically return to the base station for charging and then return to cut. If it rains suddenly, the rain sensors of the mower can inducts the rain immediately that makes the mower turn to the base station.
