1 Sicherheitshinweise
Achtung!
Lesen Sie die Sicherheitshinweise sorgfältig durch, bevor
Sie den Receiver in Betrieb nehmen.
Beachten Sie alle Warnungen und Hinweise auf dem Gerät
und in dieser Bedienungsanleitung.
1.1 Feuchtigkeit
• Sicherstellen, dass Receiver und Netzstecker mit keinerlei Feuchtigkeit in
Kontakt kommen.
1.2 Elektrische Gefahren
• Receiver nur an 175 - 250 V~, 50/60 Hz anschließen.
• Bei Gewitter oder Betriebsstörungen Stecker ziehen.
1.3 Mechanische Gefahren
• Kabel nicht knicken oder quetschen.
• Reparaturen an Stecker, Kabel oder Receiver dürfen nur von qualifiziertem
Fachpersonal durchgeführt werden.
• Keine schweren Gegenstände auf den Receiver stellen
1.4 Der richtige Standort
• Receiver auf feste, ebene Fläche stellen.
• Receiver vor Feuchtigkeit, Hitze, Staub, Dreck, … usw. schützen.
• Für ausreichend Belüftung sorgen (Lüftungsschlitze müssen frei sein).
1.5 Umgang mit Batterien
• Batterien dürfen nicht in die Hände von Kindern gelangen.
• Auslaufende Batterien verursachen Schaden an Umwelt und Fernbedienung.
Batterien entsprechend der geltenden gesetzlichen Bestimmungen
entsorgen (s. Kap. 13, Seite 26).

2 Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Der Digitale Terrestrischen Receiver smart MX52 dient dem Empfang von
Digitalen Terrestrischen Programmen im privaten Bereich. Er ist ausschließlich
für diesen Zweck bestimmt und darf nur dafür verwendet werden.
Jede andere Verwendung gilt als nicht bestimmungsgemäß.
Es wird keine Haftung für Schäden übernommen, die durch nicht
bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch entstehen.
2.1 Lieferumfang
• Terrestrischer Receiver smart MX52,
• Fernbedienung,
• 2 Batterien (AAA) für die Fernbedienung,
• eine Bedienungsanleitung.

3.2.1 Batterien einlegen

Batterien wechseln, wenn die Reichweite der Fernbedienung abnimmt bzw.
wenn der Receiver nicht mehr auf alle Befehle reagiert.
• Benötigte Batterien: 2 x AAA
• Bei längerer Nichtbenutzung können Batterien auslaufen.
Batterien aus der Fernbedienung entfernen, wenn diese für
längere Zeit (> 1,5 Jahre) nicht benutzt wird.
• Bei einem Batteriewechsel immer alle Batterien
austauschen.

Achtung!
Receiver zuerst mit der Antennendose
und allen anderen
Geräten verbinden, bevor der Netzstecker in die Steckdose
gesteckt wird.

4.1 Kabel von der terrestrischen Antenne anschließen
Kabel von Antenne mit Anschluss ABT IN verbinden.
Das Antennensignal, das am Anschluss "ANT
IN" anliegt wird
durch den Receiver durchgeschleift und kann am Anschluss "
LOOP OUT" abgegriffen werden, um ggf. weite
re Receiver
anzuschließen.
4.2 Fernsehgerät anschließen
Fernseher und Receiver mit einem Scart-Kabel verbinden.
4.3 Heimkinoanlage anschließen
Wenn Ihre Heimkinoanlage digitale Audiodaten SPDIF verarbeiten kann:
Heimkinoanlage und Receiver mit einem entsprechenden Cinch-Kabel
verbinden.
4.4 Spannungsversorgung herstellen
Wenn alle Geräte ordnungsgemäß mit dem Receiver verbunden sind:

4.5 Einschalten
Alle angeschlossenen Geräte anschalten.
Receiver mit der Power-Taste auf der Fernbedienung einschalten.
4.6 Erstinbetriebnahme
Bei der Erstinbetriebnahme bzw. nach einem Werksreset müssen folgende
Einstellungen vorgenommen und anschließend bestätigt werden:

Starten Sie den Autosuchlauf mit OK
Der gelbe Balken und die Prozentzahl zeigen den Fortschritt an.
Gefundene Fernsehprogramme werden unter TV, gefundene Radioprogramme
unter Radio aufgeführt.
Warten Sie, bis der automatische Suchlauf beendet ist.
Das Fernsehprogramm startet automatisch.
5 Einstellungen im Menü
Ein Menü bzw. OSD ist ein Bedienfeld, das auf dem FernsehBildschirm dargestellt wird (OnScreenD
isplay (engl.) =
Bildschirmmenü).
5.1 Menü aufrufen/beenden
Taste MENU drücken. Das Menü wird aufgerufen.

Taste EXIT drücken. Eine Stufe zurück im Menü. Ggf. mehrmals drücken um
in den Normalmodus zurückzukehren.
5.2 Navigation im Menü
im Menü drücken um Menüpunkt oberhalb auszuwählen.
im Menü drücken um Menüpunkt unterhalb auszuwählen.
im Menü drücken um ausgewählten Wert zu erhöhen.
im Menü drücken um ausgewählten Wert zu reduzieren.
OK im Menü drücken um Menüpunkt auszuwählen bzw. um eingestellten
Wert zu bestätigen.
Gerade aktive Menüpunkte werden farblich hervorgehoben.
In den verschiedenen Menüs wird am unteren Bildschirmrand
nochmals erklärt, welche Tasten welche Funktionen haben.
6 Einstellungen
6.1 Kanäle verwalten
6.1.1 Senderliste bearbeiten
Kanal Überspringen
Markieren Sie einen Kanal mit den Tasten und .
Drücken Sie die rote Funktionstaste.
Der Kanal wird nun beim Zappen übersprungen, kann aber mit den
Zifferntasten trotzdem noch ausgewählt werden.
Kanal verschieben
Markieren Sie einen Kanal mit den Tasten und .
Drücken Sie die grüne Funktionstaste.
Bewegen Sie den Kanal mit den Tasten und an die gewünschte
Position.
Bestätigen Sie mit OK.

Drücken Sie die gelbe Funktionstaste.
Geben Sie das Passwort ein
Der Kanal kann jetzt nur noch angeschaut werden, wenn zuvor das korrekte
Passwort eingegeben wurde.
Kanal Löschen
Markieren Sie einen Kanal mit den Tasten und .
Drücken Sie die blaue Funktionstaste.
Beim Verlassen des Menüs wird der so markierte Kanal gelöscht.
Kanal umbenennen
Markieren Sie einen Kanal mit den Tasten und .
Drücken Sie die Taste oder .
Eine Bildschirmtastatur öffnet sich.
Wählen Sie mit den Tasten und und den Tasten und
Buchstaben/Ziffern aus und bestätigen Sie mit OK.
Wiederholen Sie dies so oft, bis der gewünschte Favoritengruppenname
eingegeben ist.
Markieren Sie die Schaltfläche OK und bestätigen Sie nochmals mit der
Taste OK
Verlassen Sie das Menü mit EXIT
Die Änderungen werden gespeichert
6.1.2 Kanalsortierung
In diesem Menü können Sie mit drei Kriterien die Sortierung der Kanalliste
beeinflussen.
1. Alle Kanäle (Alle Orte) oder nur länderspezifische
2. Unverschlüsselte, verschlüsselte oder Beides.
3. Alphabetisch aufsteigend oder absteigend
Mit den Tasten und können Sie zwischen den beiden Fenstern wechseln.
Mit den Tasten und können Sie im linken Fenster zwischen den
Kategorien wechseln und im rechten Fenster die Einstellungen vornehmen.

6.1.3 Favoriten bearbeiten
In diesem Menü können Sie verschiedene Programme einer bestimmten
Favoritenliste zuordnen.
Programm mit den Tasten und markieren.
Einer der Tasten 1-8 drücken.
Programm wird der entsprechenden Favoritenliste zugeordnet.
Im Normalbetrieb können Sie nun mit der Taste OK die Kanalliste öffnen und mit
den Tasten und die gewünschte Favoritenliste auswählen.
6.1.4 Kanäle bearbeiten
In diesem Menü können Sie neue Kanäle hinzufügen und schon gespeicherte
Kanäle bearbeiten.
Mit der roten Funktionstaste können Sie einen neuen Kanal hinzufügen. Dazu
ist es notwendig, dass Sie einige Einstellwerte des einzustellenden Kanals
kennen (Ton PID, Video PID und PCR PID).
Mit der gelben Funktionstaste können Sie die Einstellwerte eines bestehenden
Kanals editieren.
Kanal mit den Tasten und markieren.
Gelbe Funktionstaste drücken.
Entsprechende Werte editieren.
Menü mit EXIT verlassen.
6.1.5 Kanallisten löschen
In diesem Menü können Sie die TV-Kanalliste und die Radio-Kanalliste löschen.
Geben Sie das Passwort ein.
Wählen Sie alle TV-Kanäle oder alle Radio-Kanäle.
Bestätigen Sie mit OK.
Bestätigen Sie die Sicherheitsanfrage mit OK.
6.2 Installation
6.2.1 Auto Suche
Die Automatische Kanalsuche startet beim Öffnen des Menüs automatisch.

Warten Sie, bis der automatische Suchlauf beendet ist.
6.2.2 Manuelle Suche
Stellen Sie den zu suchenden Kanal ein.
Starten Sie die manuelle Suche mit OK.
6.2.3 Bereichssuche
Stellen Sie mit den Zifferntasten die Startfrequenz (in kHz) und die
Endfrequenz (in kHz) ein.
Stellen sie die Bandbreite ein.
Starten Sie die Bereichssuche mit OK.
6.3 Konfiguration
6.3.1 OSD
In der Zeile OSD können Sie mit den Tasten und eine Farbkombination für
das Bedienmenü auswählen.
In der Zeile Zeit anzeigen können Sie mit den Tasten und einstellen, ob auf
dem Bildschirm rechts oben die aktuelle Uhrzeit eingeblendet werden soll.
In der Zeile OSD abschalten können Sie mit den Tasten und einstellen, wie
lange das Sender-Informationsfeld beim Programmwechsel eingeblendet
werden soll.
In der Zeile OSD Transparenz können Sie mit den Tasten und einstellen, ob
das OSD durchscheinend oder nicht durchscheinend dargestellt werden soll.
In der Zeile OSD Sprache können Sie die Bediensprache einstellen.
In der Zeile MPEG-4 Untert. können Sie einstellen, in welcher Sprache Untertitel
dargestellt werden sollen (wenn mehrere Untertitelsprachen zur Verfügung
stehen).
In den Zeilen 1. Tonsprache und 2. Tonsprache können Sie die Sprachen der
beiden Audiokanäle auswählen.

Manche Sender senden sowohl das Audiosignal
als auch die
Untertitel und den Teletext
mehrsprachig. Wenn die von
Ihnen eingestellte Sprache gesendet wird, wird automatisch
diese Sprache von Ihrem Fernsehgerät wiedergegeben.
Verlassen Sie das Menü mit OK.
6.3.2 TV
In der Zeile Anzeigemodus können Sie mit den Tasten und den VideoSignal-Typ einstellen. PAL ist der TV-Standard in Europa.
In der Zeile Seitenverhältnis können Sie mit den Tasten und das
Seitenverhältnis des dargestellten Fernsehbildes einstellen.
Letter Box (LB) bedeutet, dass breite TV-
Bilder (z.B.
Spielfilme) so weit verkleinert werden, dass sie ohne
Verzerrung auf den Bildschirm passen. Dafür werden am
oberen und unteren Rand des Bildes schwarze Balken
dargestellt.
Pan & Scan (PS) bedeutet, dass breite TV-
Bilder (z.B.
Spielfi
lme) rechts und links beschnitten werden, so dass
sie auf einem 4:3 Fernseher ohne schwarze Balken
dargestellt werden können.
In der Zeile Videoausgang können Sie mit den Tasten und die Video-Norm
des Scartanschlusses einstellen. RGB ist der TV-Standard.
In der Zeile Anzeigemodus können Sie mit den Tasten und den VideoSignal-Typ einstellen. PAL ist der TV-Standard in Europa.
In den Zeilen Helligkeit, Kontrast, Farbton und Sättigung können Sie die
farbliche Darstellung des Fernsehbildes beeinflussen.
Verlassen Sie das Menü mit OK.
6.3.3 Systemeinstellungen
In der Zeile EQ einrichten können Sie mit den Tasten und die
Tonwiedergabe anpassen.
In der Zeile Surround können Sie mit den Tasten und einstellen, ob über
den digitalen Audio-Ausgang ein Surround-Signal ausgegeben werden soll.

In der Zeile Antenne +5V können Sie mit den Tasten und einstellen, ob Ihre
Antenne mit 5V Spannung versorgt werden soll. Vorsicht bei dieser Funktion:
ein Antenne, die keine Spannungsversorgung benötigt kann beschädigt oder
zerstört werden!
In der Zeile Land können Sie mit den Tasten und einstellen, welche
Senderliste Ihr Receiver anzeigt.
In der Zeile Kindersicherung können Sie mit den Tasten und die
Kindersicherung aktivieren/deaktivieren.
In der Zeile Tuner Durchschleifung können Sie mit den Tasten und
einstellen, ob das Antennensignal, das am Anschluss "ANT IN" anliegt, durch den
Receiver durchgeschleift werden soll und dann am Anschluss " LOOP OUT"
anliegt.
6.3.4 Werkseinstellung
In diesem Menü können Sie alle Einstellungen des Receivers auf die
Werkseinstellungen zurücksetzen.
Geben Sie das Passwort ein.
Bestätigen Sie die Sicherheitsabfrage.
6.3.5 Systeminformation
In diesem Menü wird angezeigt, welchen Stand die aufgespielte Software hat.
Einstellmöglichkeiten stehen hier nicht zur Verfügung.
6.3.6 Kindersicherung
In diesem Menü können Sie ein neues Passwort einstellen.
Geben Sie das bisherige Passwort ein.
Geben Sie das neue Passwort ein.
Bestätigen Sie das neue Passwort nochmals.
Im Lieferzustand ist das Passwort 0000 voreingestellt.
Wenn Sie ein neues Passwort vergeben:
Neues Passwort unbedingt irgendwo notieren. Im Notfall
die smart-Service-Hotline anrufen.

6.4 Zeit
Aktivieren oder deaktivieren Sie mit den Tasten und die automatische
Zeiteinstellung.
Wenn AUTO eingestellt ist, wird die aktuelle Uhrzeit automatisch auf Ihren
Receiver übertragen. Sie müssen lediglich noch die entsprechende Zeitzone
einstellen und Sommerzeit aktivieren bzw. deaktivieren.
Wenn Manuell eingestellt ist, müssen Sie die Uhrzeit und das Datum manuell
eingeben. Nur bei korrekt eingestellter Uhrzeit und korrekt eingestelltem Datum
können programmierte Timer zuverlässig aufnehmen.
6.5 Timer
In diesem Menü können verschiedene Ereignisse programmiert, bearbeitet oder.
gelöscht werden.
Markieren Sie einen Timer (1-8) den Sie bearbeiten wollen.
In der Zeile Timer Typ stehen folgende Auswahlmöglichkeiten zur
Verfügung:
Aus Timer ist deaktiviert
einmal um gezielt ein Ereignis zu programmieren
täglich um jeden Tag zur gleichen Zeit ein Ereignis zu
programmieren (z. B. jeden Tag zur Tagesschau umschalten)
wöchentlich um immer am gleichen Wochentag ein Ereignis zu
programmieren (z. B. den Beginn einer im Wochenrhythmus
ausgestrahlten Serie anzeigen)
jährlich um immer am gleichen Tag im Jahr ein Ereignis zu
programmieren.
Diese Ereignisse können sein:
Aus Wenn die eingestellte Uhrzeit erreicht ist, schaltet sich der
Receiver aus Sleep-Timer.
Meldung Wenn die eingestellte Uhrzeit erreicht ist, werden Sie mit
einem Bildschirmtext benachrichtigt.
Kanal Wenn die eingestellte Uhrzeit erreicht ist, wechselt der
Receiver zum programmierten Kanal
An Wenn die eingestellte Uhrzeit erreicht ist, schaltet sich der
Receiver an (aus dem Standby-Mode) Wecker.

Wählen Sie in der Zeile Aufnahmeart den Ereignistyp Aus, Meldung, Kanal
oder An aus (s.o.).

Sie können im EPG
markierte Sendungen direkt Ihrem
Ereignistimer hinzufügen. Damit entfällt das aufwändige
programmieren des Datums, der Uhrzeit, …
6.6 Software aktualisieren
In der Zeile Software aktualisieren können Sie eine aktuelle Software von Ihrem
USB-Datenträger auf den Receiver spielen.
Suchen Sie die Update-Datei auf der Internetseite www.smart-electronic.de
(Menüpunkt Support) und speichern Sie diese auf einem USB-Datenträger
und entpacken Sie diese ggf.
Schließen Sie den Datenträger an Ihren Receiver an.
Markieren Sie die Zeile Software aktualisieren und bestätigen mit OK.
Markieren Sie die Softwaredatei und führen Sie das Update mit OK aus.
Nach erfolgtem Update startet sich der Receiver automatisch neu.
In der Zeile Software auf USB schreiben können Sie die Software von Ihrem
Receiver auf den USB-Datenträger speichern.
In der Zeile Settings schreiben können Sie Ihre persönlichen – vorher
gespeicherten - Einstellungen (Kanalsortierung, Favoritenlisten, …) von dem
USB-Datenträger auf den Receiver spielen. Die Einstellungen müssen zu einem
früheren Zeitpunkt mit der Funktion Settings auslesen auf den USB-Datenträger
gespeichert worden sein.
In der Zeile Settings auslesen können Sie Ihre persönlichen Einstellungen
(Kanalsortierung, Favoritenlisten, …) auf den USB-Datenträger speichern, um zu

einem späteren Zeitpunkt (z.B. nach einem Werksreset) Ihre Einstellungen
wieder herstellen zu können.
7 Bedienung
7.1 Elektronische Programmzeitschrift (EPG)
EPG-Taste drücken, um die elektronische Programmzeitschrift zu öffnen.
Die elektronische Programmzeitschrift bietet Ihnen die gleichen Informationen
wie ihre gedruckte Programmzeitschrift (Abfolge der zukünftigen Sendungen;
weiterführende Infos).
Sie können im EPG ausgewählte Sendungen direkt mit der
blauen Funktionstaste Ihrem Ereignistimer hinzufügen.

7.2 Senderliste
OK-Taste drücken, um die Senderliste aufzurufen.
Mit den Tasten PAGE+ und PAGE-
können Sie Seitenweise
durch die Senderliste blättern.
7.3 Favoriten-Liste
OK-Taste drücken.
Zunächst wird die Hauptsenderliste angezeigt.
Mit den Tasten und die gewünschte Favoritenliste auswählen.
7.4 Radio hören
TV/R-Taste drücken, um Radiosender aufzurufen.
Die Bedienung funktioniert hier genau gleich, wie bei den
Fernsehprogrammen.

RECALL-Taste drücken, um zum zuletzt gesehenen Kanal zu springen.

Hier können Sie einstellen, auf welche Art das Audio-Signal übertragen wird:
• Stereo: das Stereo-Signal wird unverändert übertragen
• Links: nur der linke Audiokanal wird übertragen
• Rechts: nur der rechte Audiokanal wird übertragen
7.10 Programm-Informationen
INFO-Taste drücken, um zusätzliche Informationen zum Programm
anzuzeigen.
INFO-Taste erneut drücken, ruft detailliertere Informationen zum Programm
auf.
Bietet ein Sender keine Zusatzinformationen zum Programm
an, bleibt das Textfeld leer.

In den Menüs Film, Musik und Foto können Sie eine Übersicht der auf Ihrem
USB-Datenträger gespeicherten Dateien aufrufen, Video- und Musik-Dateien
abspielen und Fotos anzeigen.

Die angezeigte Liste ist ja nach ausgewähltem Menü schon so gefiltert, dass nur
Dateien der entsprechenden Kategorie angezeigt werden.
Beispiel
Sie wollen Ihre Musik-Dateien auf dem USB-Datenträger durchsuchen und z. B.
eine mp3-Datei abspielen.
Wählen Sie das Menü Musik und bestätigen Sie mit OK.
Navigieren Sie durch die Datei-Übersicht. Es werden nur Musikdateien
angezeigt. Alle anderen Dateien werden nicht angezeigt.
Wählen Sie eine mp3-Datei aus, markieren diesen und starten Sie mit OK.

In diesem Menü können Sie den USB-Datenträger formatieren.
Vorsicht: es werden alle gespeicherten Daten unwiederbringlich gelöscht.

1 Safety Instructions
Attention!
Carefully read the safety instructions before putting the
receiver into operation.
Pay attention to all the warnings and
instructions on the
device and in these operating instructions.
1.1 Moisture
• Make sure that the receiver and the power plug do not come in contact with
any moisture.
1.2 Electrical risks
• Only connect the receiver to 175 - 250 V~, 50/60 Hz.
• Disconnect the plug during storms or malfunctions.
1.3 Mechanical risks
• Do not bend or crush the cable.
• Repairs on the plug, cable or receiver should only be carried out by qualified
skilled personnel.
• Do not place any heavy objects on the receiver
1.4 The proper location
• Place the receiver on a solid and even surface.
• Protect the receiver against moisture, heat, dust, dirt...etc.
• Provide sufficient ventilation (ventilation slit must be free).
1.5 Handling batteries
• Batteries must be kept out of reach of children.
• Leaky batteries cause damage to the environment and remote control.
Dispose of batteries according to the applicable statutory provisions (s.

The Digital Terrestrial Receiver smart MX52 is used for the reception of digital
terrestrial Radio & TV for personal use. It is exclusively designed for this purpose
and must only be used for this purpose.
Any other use shall be deemed to be improper.
No liability shall be accepted for damages which occur due to improper use.

3.2.1 Inserting the batteries
3.2.2 Changing the batteries
Change the batteries if the coverage of the remote control decreases and/or
if the receiver no long reacts to any of the commands.
• Required batteries: 2 x AAA
• If not used for longer periods of time the batteries could leak.
Remove the batteries from the remote control if it will not be
used for a longer period (> 1.5 years).

When changing batteries, always change all of the batteries.
4 Connection and Commissioning

First, connect the receiver to t
he antenna socket outlet
and all the other devices before connecting the power
plug to the socket.

Connect cable from the terrestrial antenna
Connect the cable from the antenna with the ANT IN port.
The antenna signal which is present in the "ANT IN"
port is
loop-
throughed the receiver and can be tapped from the
"LOOP OUT" port in order to be able to connect further
receivers.
4.1 Connect television
Connect the television and the receiver with a SCART cable.
4.2 Connect home theatre system
If your home theatre system can edit digital audio data SPDIF:
Home theatre system and receiver should be connected with a
corresponding cinch cable.
4.3 Produce power supply
If all devices are connected with the receiver correctly:

Switch on all connected devices.
Switch on receiver with the power button on the remote control.
4.5 Initial operation
The following settings need to be carried out and subsequently need to be
confirmed during the initial operation and/or after a system reset:

A menu and/or OSD is a control panel which is displaye

5.1 Select/end menu
Press the MENU button.
The menu is selected.

Press the EXIT button to go back in the menu. If necessary, press it several
times to return to the normal mode.
5.2 Navigation in the menu
Press in the menu to select the menu item above.
Press in the menu to select the menu item below.
Press in the menu to increase the selected value.
Press in the menu to reduce the selected value.
Press OK in the menu to select a menu item and/or to confirm the set value.
Currently active menu items will be emphasized in color.
In the different menus the functions of the various buttons are
explained at the bottom of the screen once more.
6 Settings
6.1 Administer channels
6.1.1 Edit channel list
Skip channel
Mark a channel with the and buttons.
Press the red function key.
While zapping the channel will be skipped, however the channel can still be
selected with the numeric key.
Move channel
Mark the channel with the and buttons.
Press the green function key.
Move the channel with the and buttons to the desired position.
Confirm with OK.
Lock channel
Mark the channel with the and buttons.
Press the yellow function key.

Enter the password
The channel can now only be viewed if the correct password has been entered.
Delete channel
Mark the channel with the and buttons.
Press the blue function key.
The marked channel is deleted when exiting the menu.
Rename channel
Mark the channel with the and buttons.
Press the or buttons.
An on-screen keyboard will open.
Choose the letter with the and buttons and the and buttons and
confirm with OK.
Repeat this process as many times as required until the desired favorite
group name has been entered.
Mark the OK button and confirm once more with the OK button.
Exit the menu with EXIT
The changes will be saved
6.1.2 Sorting channels
In this menu you can influence the sorting of the channel list with three criteria.
1. All channels (All locations) or only country-specific
2. Uncoded, coded or both.
3. Ascending or descending alphabetically
With the and buttons you can switch between both of the windows.
With the and buttons you switch between the categories in the left
window and adjust the settings in the right window.
6.1.3 Edit favorites
In this menu you can allocate different channels to a specific favorites list.
Mark the channel with the and buttons.
Press one of the 1-8 buttons.

Channel will be allocated to the corresponding favorites list.
In the normal mode you can open the list of channels with the OK button and
with the and buttons you can select the desired favorites list.
6.1.4 Edit channels
In this menu you can add new channels and edit channels which have already
been saved.
You can add new channels with the red function key. In order to do this it is
important to know a few of the setting values of the channel which needs to be
set (Audio PID, Video PID and PCR PID).
You can edit the setting values of an existing channel with the yellow function
key.
Mark the channel with the and buttons.
Press the yellow function key.
Edit the corresponding values.
Exit menu with EXIT.
6.1.5 Delete channel list
In this menu you can delete TV-channel lists and radio-channel lists.
Enter the password.
Choose all TV channels or all radio channels.
Confirm with OK.
Confirm the security question with OK.
6.2 Installation
6.2.1 Auto search
The automatic channel search starts automatically when opening the menu.
The yellow bars and the percentage display the progress.
Television channels which have been found will be listed under TV, and radio
channels will be listed under Radio.

Set the channels to be searched.
Start the manual search with OK.
6.2.3 Area search
Set the start frequency (in kHz) and the end frequency (in kHz) with the
numeric key.
Set the bandwidth.
Start the area search with OK.
6.3 Configuration
6.3.1 OSD
In the OSD line you can select a color combination for the user menu with the
and buttons.
In the line Display Time you can set whether the current time should be
displayed in the right corner of the screen with the and buttons.
In the line Turn off OSD you can set how long the channel information field
should be displayed while changing channels with the and buttons.
In the line OSD Transparency you can set whether the OSD should be displayed
transparently or not transparently with the and buttons.
In the line OSD Language you can set the operating language.
In the line MPEG-4 Subtitles you set the language in which the subtitles should
be displayed (if several subtitle languages are available).

languages of both audio channels.
Some channels broadcast the Audio signal
as well as the

In the line Display Mode you can set the video signal type with the and
buttons. PAL is the TV standard in Europe.
In the line Aspect Ratio you can set the aspect ratio of the television image
which is displayed with the and buttons.
Letter Box (LB)
means that the width of the TV images (e.g.
movies) has been reduced so that they fit on the screen
without any distortions. For this reason, black bars are
displayed on the upper and lower edge of the image.

In the line Video Output you can set the video standard of the SCART connector
with the and buttons. RGB is the TV-Standard.
In the line Display Mode you can set the video signal type with the and
buttons. PAL is the TV-Standard in Europe.
In the lines Brightness, Contrast, Color and Saturation you can influence the
color representation of the television image.
Exit the menu with OK.
6.3.3 System settings
In the line Set up EQ you can adapt the sound reproduction with and
buttons.
In the line Surround you can set whether a surround signal should be produced
via the digital audio output with the and buttons.
In the line Antenna +5V you can set whether your antenna should be supplied
with 5V voltage with the and buttons. Careful with this function: an antenna
which does not require a voltage supply can be damaged or destroyed!
In the line Country you can set which channel list your receiver should display
with the and buttons.
In the line Child Protection you can activate/deactivate the child protection with
the and buttons.

In the line Tuner Loop-through you can set whether the antenna signal which is
present in the "ANT IN" socket should be looped through the receiver and then
be present in the "LOOP-OUT" socket with the and buttons.
6.3.4 Factory setting
In this menu you can reset all of the settings of the receiver to factory settings.
Enter the password.
Confirm the security question.
6.3.5 System information
This menu displays which status the stored software has.
There are no setting possibilities available in this item.
6.3.6 Child Protection
In this menu you can set a new password.
Enter the previous password.
Enter the new password.
Confirm the new password once again.
The password in the as-received condition is pre-
set as
0000.
If you want to assign a new password:
Please note the new password somewhere. In an
emergency please call the smart-service hotline.
6.4 Time
Activate or deactivate the automatic time setting with the and buttons.
If AUTO is set, the current time will automatically be transmitted to your
receiver. You only have to set the corresponding time zone and activate and/or
deactivate the summer time.
If Manual is set, you have to manually enter the time and date.
6.5 Timer
In this menu, various events can be set up, edited and/or deleted.

Mark one timer (1-8) that you want to edit.
The following selection options are available in the line Timer Type:
Off Timer is deactivated
once to specifically program an event
daily to program an event at the same time every day (e. g. the to
switch to the news every day)
weekly to program an event on the same week day every week (e.g.
a message about the start of a series which is broadcast at
weekly intervals)
yearly to program an event on the same day every year.
Select in the line Recording mode the event type Off, Notification, Channel or On.
Off If the set time has been reached the receiver switches itself
off sleep timer.
Notification If the set time has been reached you will be informed with
an onscreen message.
Channel If the set time has been reached the receiver will switch to
the programmed channel.
On If the set time has been reached the receiver switches itself
on.
Additionally there is a value Recorder, which is not used with your MX52.
In the line Channel chose the desired channel.
In the line Date set the desired date.
In the line Time set the desired start time.
Channels marked in the EPG
can be directly added to your
event timer. This reduces the time-consuming programming of
the date and time.
6.6 Update software
In the line Update Software you can play current updates from your USB data
medium on the receiver.
Search for the update file on the internet page www.smart-electronic.de
(Menu item Support) and save this on to a USB data storage medium and
unzip it if necessary.

Connect the data medium on to your receiver.
Mark the line Update Software and confirm with OK.
Mark the software file and execute the update with OK.
After the update the receiver automatically restarts the system.
In the line Write Software on to USB you can save software from your receiver
on to the USB-data medium.
In the line Write settings you can play your personal - previously saved - settings
(channel sorting, favorite lists, ...) from the USB data medium on the receiver. The
settings need to have been saved at an earlier point in time with the Retrieve
Settings on the USB data medium.
In the line Retrieve Settings you can save your personal settings (channel
sorting, favorite lists, ...) on the USB data medium in order to be able to recover
the settings at a later point in time (e.g. after a factory reset).
7 Operation
7.1 Electronic Program Guide (EPG)
Press the EPG button in order to open the electronic program guide.
The electronic program guide offers you the same information which is available
in the printed program guide (Sequence of the future programs; additional
information).
In the EPG you can add the selected channels directly with the
blue function key to your event timer.

7.2 Channel lists
Press the OK button in order to retrieve the channel list.
With the PAGE+ and PAGE- buttons you can browse through
the channel list page by page.
7.3 Favorites list
Press the OK button.

Select the desired favorites list with the and buttons.
7.4 Listen to the radio
Press the TV/R button in order to retrieve the radio transmitter.
Here the operation of the radio is the same as with the television channels.
7.5 Recall
Press the RECALL button in order to skip channels which were last seen.
7.6 Videotext
Press the TTX button.
By pressing EXIT you end the videotext.
7.7 Subtitle
Press the SUB button.
By pressing EXIT you end the subtitles.
7.8 Pause
Press the PAUSE button to pause the current television channel.
You can resume the television channel by pressing the PAUSE button once
again.
7.9 Audio function
Press the AUDIO button, in order to enter the audio menu
Here you can set how the audio-signal is transmitted:
• Stereo: the stereo-signal is transmitted without change
• Left: only the left audio channel is transmitted
• Right: only the right audio channel is transmitted
7.10 Channel information
Press the INFO button in order for additional information about the channel
to be displayed.

8 Film / Music / Photo
In the menus Film, Music and Photo you can retrieve an overview of the files
saved on your USB data medium.
This overview is already filtered depending on the selected menu so that only
the files of the corresponding category are displayed.
Example
You want browse your video files on the USB data medium.
Chose the menu Film and confirm with OK.
Navigate through the data overview.
Only the video files will be shown. All other files will not be shown.
Chose a video and mark it and then start the video with OK.
9 Formatting
In this menu you can format the USB data medium.
Careful: by doing so all the saved data will be irretrievably deleted.
10 Cleaning
