INSTALLATION NOTES
Required Lines
The MovieTimeS does not require phones to be attached to the PHONE connectors for operation. The
MovieTimeS does require a working phone l ine to be attached to the TELCO connector in order to sei z e
control from t he associated PHONE connector .
Line(s) to be Answered
The Mov ieTim eS can handle two telephone l ines. The Mov ieTim eS can only answer the l ine (or l ines)
that it is attached to, addit ional phone lines must bypass the Mov ieTim eS and ring straight t hrough to
other instruments.
Hunt Groups
Hunt groups are a set of lines that all answer to the same number , i f t he f i rst num ber i n t he group i s busy
the next call rings in on the next l ine i n the group. T his serv ice i s arranged through t he phone company.
If i nstall ing the M ov ieTi meS on l ines arranged i n a hunt group, be sure t o plac e the unit on t he f irst two
incomi ng lines. B e aware that the Mov ieTi meS can onl y handle two call s simul taneously. I f pl aced in a
hunt group with more lines than the two lines the MovieTi meS can handle, the addi tional calls bypass the
MovieTimeS and ring straight through to other telephones. You may install additional MovieTimeS
machines for each two lines i n the hunt group.
RJ-11 Wiring
The MovieTimeS uses only the inner pair of conduc tors on its RJ-11 jack s, and does not pass the outer
pair between the Telco and Phone jacks.
Hook Flash Transfers
Some instal lations m ay use services such as CENTREX or CALL W AITING that rel y on a Hook Flash
signal being sent to the Central Off ice. The Mov ieTi meS is not com patible wit h these services and will
interfere with the Hook F lash signal.
CPC
The MovieTimeS is designed to use the Calling P
sense when the caller has hung up the phone. Not all Central Offices support CPC signaling. If the
Movi eTim eS does not receiv e the CPC signal i t may t ake as long as 90 seconds after m essage play is
complet e to return to normal oper ation and call s also ring through ev en if the cal ling part y has hung up
during the message or transfer.
REN
The MovieTimeS supports an outgoing Ringer E

the Mov ieTim eS. Add these val ues together and confi rm that t he total is less then 5. For ex ample t he

LIGHTS & INDICATORS
The MovieTimeS fr ont panel has a mult icolored Mode LED and a gr een Line LED for eac h available li ne.
MODE LED
The Mode LED normally flashes green to indi c ate normal oper ation. The Mode LE D also flashes amber as the
MovieTimeS processes commands.
In the event of a system failure, the mode LED fl ashes red.
LINE LEDs
The Line LEDs will show green whenever the MovieTimeS is in c ontrol of the line i n c ommand mode.
The FACTORY jack on the back of the MovieTimeS must not be used by customer. This jack
is used by the factory to load instructi ons to the internal computer. If program upgrades are
available in the future, your machine may be upgraded to the new software by returning it to
the factory to load the new operating program.
Note: You must delete a messag e before recordi ng a new message. This i s necessary because your new
message may be shorter than the o ld one and the last part of the old message will remain. Deleting the
message restores a bl ank memory box, ready for the new message.
Maximizing the capability of the MovieTimeS.
This digital answering device has 24 message boxes f or show ti mes on 24 screens. If you have a 30 screen
complex, of ten a movie is played in interlock on mul tiple screens. We suggest you mention the movie once and
use a show times box to give the show ti mes for all showings.
If you have m or e than 24 movies you may use one show times box for t wo differ ent movies if they run the at
same times.
10
Page 11
If you have a 10-plex, you will have 14 unused show times boxes. You m ay elect to use these empty boxes for
movie reviews of the cur r ent movies. For example: In the Mov ie List box say “For Titanic press 2, for a review of
this movie by the leading film critics, press 23.”
SET UP / OPERATION
FACTORY RESET
The Movi eTimeS can be reset to the f actory default settings by hol ding the mode button down while power i s
