This quick reference guide explains how to use your SMARTBoard® 8000 series interactive flat
panel and SMARTkapp iQ features.
Installing the SMARTkappiQ Pro interactive flat
panel
A number of resources are available to help you install the SMARTkapp iQ Pro 55, 65, 65-V2 or 75
interactive flat panel and SMART MeetingPro® software.

The SMARTMeeting Pro administrator’s guide provides the following information about the

Turning the board on
1. Turn on the room computer.
2. Flick the power switch beside the AC power inlet to the ON (I) position.
Press the Standby button on the front control panel.
3.
Front control panel
The front control panel contains the Standby, Input
Select, Mute and volume control buttons.
Use the Input Select button to switch to the computer
that has SMARTMeeting Pro software installed.

Basic gestures
The SMARTkapp iQ board supports a variety of gestures within apps, including panning, scaling,
rotating and zooming in and out.

Cleaning
To clean the screen
1. Turn off any connected computers.
Press the Standby button on the front control panel twice.
2.
3. Turn off the interactiveflatpanel by flicking the power switch beside the AC power inlet.
4. Wipe the screen with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth.
Cleaning tips
l If dry-erase markers are used on the screen, remove the ink as soon as possible with a lint-
free, non-abrasive cloth.
l Do not use cleaning solution or glass cleaner on the interactiveflatpanel screen, because
they can deteriorate or discolor the screen.

Switching modes
To present information, you can use board in computer mode and pick up the pen and start writing
without connecting your mobile device. If you want to save or share your notes, switch to
SMARTkapp iQ mode and connect your mobile device.
You can switch between your computer and SMARTkapp iQ mode by pressing the Input Select
button on the front control panel and selecting HDMI (computer and SMARTMeeting Pro
software) or OPS/HDMI2 (SMARTkapp iQ).
Using SMARTkapp iQ
SMARTkapp iQ is a whiteboard and a suite of apps that runs from an embedded appliance.
Designed specifically to complement individual, small group and whole-room collaboration,
SMARTkapp iQ fully integrates with mobile devices, including tablets, smartphones, laptops and
Chromebooks.
Using the launcher
The launcher contains all your apps and settings.
To open the launcher
Press the Home button on the screen.
The launcher appears.
To close the launcher
Select an app, press the Home button or tap anywhere on the screen.
The launcher closes.
Using the Whiteboard
You can draw on the Whiteboard with the pen and use basic gestures to manipulate
content. SMART Ink is available only while using the Input app and when SMARTProduct
Drivers is installed on the connected computer.

To use the Whiteboard with your mobile device

Start the SMARTkapp app on your mobile device.

Hold the mobile device’s rear facing camera to the board’s QR code

Connect your mobile device to the board as soon as you
enter the classroom, as only one mobile device can be
connected to the board at a time.

To disconnect a student’s device from the board, press
Disconnect on the board.
Save a snapshot of a
session
Connect to the board and press Capture on the board or in the
SMARTkapp app.
View a snapshot To view a saved snapshot on your mobile device, tap Sessions and tap
the thumbnail to view it.
Sharing a snapshot
View a snapshot on your mobile device.

iOS device: Tap Export and then select Save to Camera Roll or
Share as PDF .
Android device: Tap Menu and then select Share as Image or
Share as PDF .
Invite others to a
session (up to 250
people)
Connect your mobile device to the board.
1.
From the SMARTkapp app, tap Invite and then select Send Link .
2.
Select the app you want to use to send the invitation.
3.
When others connect, remote participants can use their own device or
SMARTkapp iQ board to add content to the session.
To erase all notes on the Whiteboard
NOTE
Not all SMARTkapp iQ models have the Whiteboard Library enabled.

Press the Erase All icon.

2. Press Yes, Save it to save the Whiteboard session to the Library and erase the Whiteboard.
OR
Press No, discard it to erase the Whiteboard. The session isn’t saved to the Library.
OR
Press Cancel to return to the Whiteboard. Your notes are not erased.
Using the Whiteboard Library
The Whiteboard Library stores Whiteboard sessions on the AM30 appliance. You can open the
Library and continue a saved session on the board.
Using the Browser
You can use a web browser on the SMARTkapp iQ board.
Using Input
You can display content from your computer on the board when you connect a
computer to the AM30 appliance. To take full advantage of the board’s touch and ink
features, download and install SMARTsoftware:
smarttech.com/en/Home+Page/Support/Browse+Support/Download+Software.
To display content on the board
NOTE
Make sure the OPS/HDMI input source is selected.
1. Connect a computer to the AM30 appliance’s HDMI in and USB receptacles.
2. Open the launcher.
The launcher appears.
Press Input .
3.
The board detects the connection.
4. The computer’s desktop appears on the screen.

Using Screen Share
You can share content wirelessly on the SMARTkapp iQ board from your computer or
mobile device. Make sure the board and your mobile device or computer are on the
same network.

To share content using the Chrome browser
1. On the board, open the launcher.
The launcher appears.
Press Screen Share .
2.
3. On your computer, open the Chrome browser.
4. Open the tab you want to share on the board.
In the top right corner of your browser, click the Cast icon .
5.
6. Select the board’s name.
When you’re sharing content, the Cast icon turns blue.

To share content from a Windows computer
You can use the Chrome browser to share content from your Windows computer. See To share
content using the Chrome browser above.
You can purchase AirParrot, an application that allows you to share your display, a single
application or a media file. See airsquirrels.com/airparrot/features/win.

To share content from an Apple device

1. On the SMARTkapp iQ board, open the launcher.
The launcher appears.
Press Screen Share .
2.
On your Mac computer, click the Airplay icon in the menu bar.
3.
4. Select the board’s name.
The Airplay icon turns blue when your Mac computer is sharing content with AirPlay.
To share content from an Android mobile device
1. Download the Google Cast app from Google Play.
2. On the board, open the launcher.
The launcher appears.
Press Screen Share .
3.
4. On your Android mobile device, open the Google Cast app.
In the top left corner, press the navigation drawer .
5.
6. Press Cast Screen .
7. Select the board’s name.
If you don’t see the board you want, press MORESETTINGS to show more boards.

To stop sharing content to the board
TIP
You can disconnect your mobile device or computer to stop sharing content to the board.
1. Tap the board.
The overlay appears.
In the top right corner of the screen, press .

3. The message “Want to disconnect?” appears. Press Yes .
Using SMART MeetingPro
SMART MeetingPro software is an easy-to-use whiteboard application that enhances your
meeting productivity and collaboration. Use SMART MeetingPro to enrich brainstorming sessions,
meetings and presentations. The following section shows you how to work with SMART
MeetingPro.
Switch display
modes
Switch display modes to access SMART MeetingPro’s collaboration
features. Follow these steps:
On the front of the SMARTkappiQ Pro interactive flat panel, press

and select HDMI1 .
The log on screen appears.
NOTE
To return to SMARTkappiQ, press and select OPS/HDMI .
Enter your log on credentials.

Your Windows desktop appears with the SMART MeetingPro toolbar.

Use the pen tools
Similar to SMARTkappiQ, you can pick up one of the provided pens and
draw on the interactive flat panel. However, in SMART MeetingPro, you have
access to the SMARTInk™ dynamic toolbar. This toolbar lets you change the
properties of the pen while you’re in SMART MeetingPro mode. You can
change:
Pen type

Line start

Line end

Thickness
l
Transparency
l
NOTE
The available properties depend on the pen type that you select.
To open the dynamic toolbar for one of the pens, just pick up one of the pens
and the dynamic toolbar will appear. When you first open the dynamic
toolbar, it appears minimized. To view the toolbar in full mode, press it.

Use the
whiteboard
Use the desktop
Use Whiteboard mode to create presentations and compile information for
meetings. You can write notes and draw objects, manipulate text and images
and work with information you captured from other applications. When you’re
done, you can present your file or email your file to meeting participants.
Use Desktop mode to interact with the room computer’s applications. You
can write or draw digital ink over computer applications using SMARTInk™
while presenting content to others.

Connecting computers to the SMARTkapp iQ
Some models of the AM30 appliance include computer connectors. To
the board’s touch features and use a pen to draw and write, follow
these steps:
By connecting a computer to the AM30 appliance instead of the board,
you can quickly switch between the computer and other SMARTkapp
iQ features.
NOTE
If the computer you’re connecting has SMARTInk and SMART Product Drivers installed, you can
write and draw on the board.
1. Connect a computer to the AM30 appliance using USB and HDMI cables.
2. Download and install SMARTProduct Drivers and SMARTInk on your computer. See
smarttech.com/us/Support/Browse+Support/Download+Software.
3. Use the Input app.
NOTE
When you connect a computer to the AM30 appliance, make sure the input source is OPS/HDMI.
Resolving touch and video issues
If you’re having touch or video issues, ensure the USB and HDMI cables connecting the room
computer to the interactive flat panel are secure. The USB cable controls touch, and the HDMI
cable controls the video.
