User Manual
Thank you for purchasing a SleepSense® sensor
Description
The RIP Interface Cables are intended to connect between the SleepSense Inductive Bands and any PSG system with a built-in Inductive channel.
Indications for use
SleepSense sleep-lab sensors provide a qualitative measure of sounds, respiratory-effort, flow, body position or limb movements, for recording on an approved data acquisition system. They are intended for use on children and adult patients who are screened during sleep disorder studies at a sleep laboratory or the patient’s home.
Using the Interface Cables
Positioning the Sensor
Select the proper size band for the patient.
1. Strap the sensor bands around the patient’s abdomen or chest, over any clothing.
2. Attach the first wire to the snap that is on the same side of the band as the Velcro® patch.
3. While holding this end to the left of the patient’s centerline, wrap the band around the patient’s chest or abdomen. For smaller patients move the starting point further to the left.
4. Pull the other end over the first end and secure to the band on the right side of the centerline. The band should be snug but not too tight.
5. Attach the second wire to the exposed snap. Secure both wires about 3” away from the connection.
Check that clear, strong signals are being transmitted before leaving the patient.
When removing the sensor band do not pull on the wires. Remove from the snap.
Cleaning the Interface Cable
Wipe the Interface Cable with a non-corrosive (to plastic) cleanser to clean before use.
Make sure the cable is thoroughly dry before reusing it.
Do not autoclave or soak the cable in disinfectants.
