Gluing Instructions for CK1 Sensor Board
If you find that your CK-1 sensor board will not stay attached to your telephone, it will be necessary to glue the Sensor Board to the telephone with Contact Cement. Only Contact Cement should be used, no other type of glue should be used. Please follow these instructions carefully.
Needed Materials:
including Home Depot and Lowes.
2. At least one Q-Tip swab.
3. A piece of paper
4. Either a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a small cloth towel, or a alcohol prep pad.
Instructions:
1. Completely remove the CK1 Sensor Board from the telephone.
2. With a small amount of rubbing alcohol, or with a rubbing alcohol prep pad, clean
the surface of the phone where the CK1 Sensor Board will mount. There must be
no dust or oil film, on the phone where the Sensor Board will mount. DO NOT
allow excess alcohol to drip inside phone. This could damage your phone.
3. Wait until the phone surfaces are completely dry before continuing.
NOTE: The following are time sensitive steps. Once you start you must keep going until you have completed all of the instruction. Please completely read through the following steps before you attempt them, so that you will be familiar with them.
4. Brush a small amount of Contact Cement on the piece of paper as shown in
Picture 1.
5. Dip the Q-TIP into the glue, on the paper, and apply a medium coat of Contact
Cement to the bottom of the sensor board as shown in Picture 2. DO NOT get
any Contact Cement on the Photo Cells on the bottom of the sensor board. DO NOT apply so much glue that it will run off the pad when the sensor board is turned over.
6. Now temporarily mate the sensor board to the telephone, where it is to be
permanently attached. Press down so that the glue from the sensor board pad
will partially transfer to the phone. Now pull the sensor board away from the telephone. See Pictures 4 , 5, and 6.
7. The glue MUST air cure for at least 30 seconds before you re-attach it to the phone. This is necessary so that the contact cement will get tacky and
will grab and hold properly when re-attached.
8. Carefully align the sensor board to the phone. CAUTION: Once you touch the sensor board to the phone, it will be very difficult to move it. You MUST align the sensor board correctly BEFORE touching it down on the phone! Once you are SURE that it is
aligned properly, press the sensor board down on the phone and allow it to stick. That’s it!
