Note
A competent workshop should install the original hands free phone kit. Special tools and the
accompanying literature specific to the car are required for fitting it. Incorrect fitting may lead to damage to the car or the hands free phone kit.
The retrofitting can be carried out in vehicles fitted with a factory radio/radio navigation system.
After completing the fitting work, the car must be coded for operation with the mobile telephone using
a car diagnostics, measuring and information system.
Secure the wires so that they cannot come into contact with any rotating or other moving parts and so
that they cannot chafe on any sharp metal or plastic edges.

Original hands free phone kit for retrofitting
1.1 Fitting location
The following illustration shows the possible fitting locations and the routing of the wires from the radio/radio navigation system to the roof console.
1 - Microphone

roof console
2 - Wiring harness
Routing from the radio plug connector to the interface box
and below the storage compartment on the passenger side, the A-pillar trim and the roof lining to the microphone in the roof console
3 - Interface box
Possible fitting locations are, depending on the vehicle and
equipment installed, on the left next to or above the storage compartment on the passenger side, below or behind the radio/radio navigation system
1.2 Preparing the vehicle for fitting the component
Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment.
Remove the radio/radio navigation system, the storage
compartment of the passenger side, the right hand A-pillar trim, the sun visors and the roof console of the vehicle.

CAUTION!
The wiring set -2- must be routed so that the function of
the passenger airbag is not limited.
The fitting location of the interface box -3- must be selected
so that the function of the passenger airbag is not limited.

Original hands free phone kit for retrofitting
1.1 Fitting the interface box
Plug the blue multiway connector of the wire set into the
connector socket of the interface box and lock it.
Wrap the interface box with the foam material provided to
avoid noises when the vehicle is moving.
Fit the interface box on a suitable fitting location on the
dashboard (see page 1, Fig. 1).
1.2 Routing the wiring set
Install the shorter section of the wiring set from the interface
box to the radio plug connector of the vehicle.
Install the longer section of the wiring set from the interface
box within the dashboard, to the A-pillar of the vehicle.
Secure the wiring set with the supplied cable ties within the
dashboard to the existing car wiring or supports of the vehicle.
Route the wiring set to the installation location of the roof
console alongside the A-pillar and within the roof lining.
Secure the wiring set with the supplied cable ties to the
existing car wiring or supports of the vehicle.
1.3 Fitting the microphone into roof console
Remove the cover from the (no illustration) mounting opening
of the microphone -1-.
Clip the microphone -1- supplied into the roof console of the
vehicle.
Connect the plug connection of the microphone to the socket
-2- of the wiring set.
Wrap the plug connection the foam material provided to avoid
noises when the vehicle is moving.
Refit the roof console in the reverse order.

1.4 Connecting the wire set to the radio connecting plug of the vehicle
Note
Existing wiring is not illustrated below for reasons of clarity.
Pull the locking pin -2- out of the radio plug connector -1-.
Push the cable marked from the chamber of the radio plug
connector and lock the contacts into the supplied flat contact housings -7- and -8- according to the table. Tick-off the changes made in the table column "completed".
Lock the connector -7- and -8- into the respective socket of the
wiring set.
