Introduction
The Sima 3-Watt Universal Video Light can be mounted on the accessory shoe of any camcorder by sliding it into place and tightening the mounting screw. If your camcorder does not have a shoe mount, the Sima Video Bracket, (Model SVB-1) available at most video stores or order directly from Sima, will provide the necessary mounting platform.
Batteries.
The SL-9 comes with two rechargeable AAA NiMH batteries. The batteries must be charged 4 to 6 hrs. prior to use. Use the supplied AC adapter/charger to charge the batteries.
Installing the batteries
To install the batteries – slide open the battery compartment located on top of the unit. Insert two fresh AAA size batteries according to the +/­markings on the unit. Close top.
To charge the batteries:
1. Insert the jack on the power cord into the power input jack on the side of the SL-9 (Fig. A). Red LED indicator light, located below power jack, will turn on. Note:
indicator light will not turn off when charging is complete.
2. Plug AC transformer into standard
120 VAC wall outlet.
3. Batteries must charge 4 to 6 hours before fully charged.
4. Fully charged batteries will provide approx.
20 to 25 minutes continuous run time.
Note: Light does not work with AC adapter plugged in unit’s power jack.
Warning! Do not overcharge. Unplug after 4­8 hours charging.

Special Notes
The SL-9 video light can also be operated with two standard AAA alkaline batteries. Running time will be less than when using the rechargeable NiMH batteries included with your unit. If using non-rechargeable batteries, do not use AC charger. Supplying current to non-rechargeable batteries can cause them to leak or explode and may damage the unit.
Warning! Never charge alkaline batteries. Damage to AC charger or light can occur.

Turn light on by sliding the on/off switch up to the ON position as shown in Fig. B
