WORKING THEORY
This device is based on the BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) technology. To measure body bioelectrical impedance, it makes the results much more accurate with new measuring technology. The reason is human body fat is not conductive, however muscle and water are good conductors. This device measures bioelectrical impedance to calculate the composition of human body.

CAUTION

• Any measurement obtained using this device is for reference only and should not be considered as a medical opinion.
• Consult your primary care doctor or physician before making changes to your diet, exercise plans or physical activities.
DO NOT stand on the edge of the scale or jump on it!
• Always use scale on a hard, dry, and flat surface.
• Make sure your feet are clean before stepping on the scale.
• Connect the batteries in accordance with the correct polarities indicated.
• Remove batteries if device is not to be used for a long time.
NOTES:
• Do not bend knees when measuring.
• Take measurements at the same, or similar, time of the day.
• Keep your bare feet on foot pads (conductive ITO film).
• Do not take measurements immediately after intense exercise.
• Mobile phone and microwave frequencies may affect accuracy of results.
• The result is just a reference for children, aged people, pregnant women, and professional athletes.
• Do not disassemble the unit.
• Do not submerge the scale in water.
• Do not wash with hot water or volatile oils.
• Wipe the machine clean with a damp cloth, and dry with towel or soft cloth.
• Do not overload: Max Weight (182.5kg / 405.5lb).
PREPARATION BEFORE USE
INSERT BATTERIES
1. Locate and remove the battery cover on the underside of the scale.
2. Insert the batteries (4 x AAA); pay attention to polarity indicated. Please change batteries when “Lo” is shown on the screen.
AUTO POWER-OFF
The scale will automatically power off:
- after 10 seconds of no operation
- if it is overloaded
- due to faulty operation
Switch unit
1. Two units are available: kg and lb
2. The default unit on the scale is determined by the UNIT selected in the iWellness app - change default unit in the for daily use.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
What devices are compatible? iOS devices: iPhone4S, iPad3, iPad Mini, or higher Android devices: Android 4.3 or higher, with bluetooth 4.0 or higher; memory
capacity no less than 1G.
How to install the app on your device?
Download “iWellness4.0” from Google Play, or “iWellness” from App Store.
1. Make sure your phone or tablet has an Internet connection.
2. Search for and download “iWellness4.0” in Google Play, or “iWellness” in Apple App Store.
Or simply scan the two dimensional QR code on the last page of this manual.
3. The App icon will appear on the desktop of your phone or tablet after the installation is complete.
4. Tap “iWellness4.0” icon to launch the application.
How to use iWellness 4.0 / iWellness?
1. Check your device settings to make sure Bluetooth is Enabled.
2. Tap to open “iWellness4.0 / iWellness” application.
3. When opening the application for the first time you will need complete the following steps: a. Tap “Scale” and select “Body Fat Scale” (as shown in Figure “a” below).
b. The user information screen will appear - tap on the picture to add a photo for this user (optional). c. Enter the users name, gender, preferred weight unit, birthday, height, current fitness level, and target weight. Review and tap “Save” to confirm. d. You are taken back to the main screen, and you can start testing now.
NOTE:
The application will go directly into the main screen the next time it is opened.
4. Check again to make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Step on the scale with bare feet and the scale will be activated automatically (as well as the Bluetooth connection). Remain on the scale until all for four numbers have been shown on the LED display.
5. Select “YES” to save the readings when the message appears. All eight measurements will be displayed on the main screen.
NOTE: If stepping on the scale with socks, only your weight will be measured and shown on the main page. To get complete data, please step on the scale with bare feet.
6. For browsing history data, graphs and lists: Tap the arrow on either side of the weight circle on the main page to view previous readings. Tap on any of the eight parameters on the main screen (weight, body water, body fat, bone, BMI, visceral fat, BMR, or muscle sass) to view a graph of previous measurements and recent weight and BMI.
7. To share your data while browsing the Graph or List screens, tap the “Sharing” icon in the upper right corner. You can share selected data to platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Email, SMS etc.
8. For body health reference tables, tap the “Info” button in the lower left corner of the main screen.
9. For application settings tap the “Settings” button in the lower middle area of the main screen - you can reset user data, choose the scale type, export data to a text file, and view application data.
10. To remove all measurement data for the current user, tap the “Delete” button in the lower right corner of the main screen.
WARNING! Once user data is deleted it cannot be recovered.
11. To manage users, tap the user image in the upper left corner of the main screen. Tap “+” to add a new user (each user will need to select a scale type and input user information). Tap “Edit” to modify user data or access the delete option.
WARNING! When a user is deleted, all associated measurements will be removed permanently and cannot be recovered.
*For iOS8 and higher devices only:
There is a health app called HealthKit which is compatible with iWellness. If authorized, some data can be updated from iWellness to HealthKit including Body Fat Percentage, Body Mass Index, Height, and Weight. You will have access to historical data even if you uninstall iWellness accidentally.
How to use HealthKit?
1. Locate the “Health” app on your device.
2. When you are using iWellness for the first time, you will be asked for permission to update data from iWellness to HealthKit - you should verify that “iWellness” is shown on the “Sources” screen of the Health app.
If you do not allow permission initially, you can change the settings by opening the Health app and tapping “Sources” - then tap "iWellness" and choose “Turn All Categories On”. Data will be transfered automatically.
3. Please note that only when parameters are measured successfully in iWellness, can data be updated in Health. Otherwise, it will not be transferred to the Health app.
4. After you finish a measurement, open the “Health” app and select “Body Measurements” - you will see the latest health data updated from iWellness.
Frequently Asked Questions and Solutions:
1. How can I recalibrate the scale after moving it?
- Simply step on the scale to let it power on
- Let the reading drop to 0.0kg/0.0lb and calibration will be complete
Note: The scale will be inaccurate if it is not recalibrated.
2. Display indicates "Err" when weighing.
- Overloaded the maximum range (182.5kg / 405.51b)
Tip: When overloaded, do not stand on the scale for a long time. The service time of the sensors will be shortened.
3. Display indicates "Err2" when measuring body fat.
- Body parameter settings should be: Height: 100cm-220cm (3’3”-7’3”) Age: 10-99 years
- Feet or scale are too wet
4. No body fat data measured when weighing.
- Body fat scale requires weighing with bare feet
- Body parameter settings should be: Height: 100cm-220cm (3’3”-7’3”) Age: 10-99 years
- Bluetooth setting not enabled
- Device is paired with another connected electronic scale
5. Bluetooth not connected.
- Application must be open when taking readings
- Device's Bluetooth function is disabled (enable Bluetooth function and restart iWellness)
For Android devices, go to System Settings > Bluetooth > Cancel the paired bluetooth devices and reopen the application.
MAINTENANCE
1. The four feet of the scale are rubber components. Do not keep the scale loaded for long periods of time as it may damage the weight sensors and the scale will not be accurate.
2. Do not put anything on the scale if not in use. This will consume power and reduce the lifetime of batteries.
3. Keep the product clean and dry; Keep away from water; Avoid slipping from scale which may damage the inside electric circuits when weighing.
4. Do not drop! Avoid the risk of damaging the scale or breaking the glass.
5. The scale is in low power when showing “Lo”. Please change batteries immediately. Permanent damage of the battery will be caused if the scale is kept in low power mode for a long time.
6. This product is a body analyzer scale, for body composition measurements only, and not to be used for commercial purposes.
