Before Use
Please read this important information BEFORE using this product. Failure of the pump due to non-compliance with this information may invalidate any claim under warranty.
This pump is designed for use in clean water environments but will • discharge suspended solids in the liquid which are no larger than 3mm in diameter.
Sand and other abrasive materials present in the liquid being pumped • will cause increased wear.
Where possible, avoid using the pump continuously for more than 10 • mins.
This pump is designed for domestic applications only in and around the • home and garden. Do not use in a commercial or industrial environment as it is not designed to be subjected to heavy-duty usage. It is designed for periodic on/off cycles, not for long-term continuous operation.
This pump is not suitable for use with the following liquids: •
- Salt water
- Corrosive (acid based) liquids
- Combustible or explosive fluids e.g petrol/oil based fluids
- Effluent waste Do not use with liquid that has a tempreature greater than 35°C.• Dry running of the pump creates excessive wear and must be avoided.• When not in use, protect the pump from frost damage and store in a •
dry place.
Operating instructions
Unpacking the pump
Once all packaging material has been removed, please check the pump • visually for any evidence of damage.
If any damage is evident, please return it to your retailer.• The packaging should be disposed of in a responsible manner. NEVER •
allow the packaging materials to be within reach of children.
Assembly
There are 2 parts to the aluminium hose section.• Connect the straight section to the pump unit.• Connect the swan neck section to the straight section.• To adjust the height of the suspending arm (1) unscrew the plastic nut •
immediately above the arm, then re-position and tighten the nut.
Hose connection
Attach a female quick connector to the garden hose, and push fit onto the • male connector (5).
Operating
Survey the area where the pump is to be located carefully to ensure it will • be in a stable position.
If the location has soft residue at the botton i.e. mud, the pump should be • suspended so that the base is not in contact with the residue.
This can be achieved by either placing the pump on a raised surface e.g. • a brick, or suspending the pump via the suspending hook.
The pump can be submerged to a maximum depth of up to 8 metres.• With the pump in a stable location, the plug can now be connected to •
the power supply.

NOTE: When power is switched on, the pump will activate immediately.
Overheating
Should the pump overheat, it will automatically cut out.• Once the thermal overload switch has cooled down (after approx. 10 •
mins), it will reset and automatically switch on. The possible cause may be due to an obstruction.•
De-aeration
The pump is equipped with an automatic de-aeration device that will • remove air locks that could form in the pump.
If the pump is allowed to draw off water to the bottom of the unit, the • pump will have sucked in air, affecting its performance until it is able to de-aerate.
Should this oocur, disconnect the pump from the mains power.• The de-aeration process will only be possible once the water level has •
risen above the bottom of the pump i.e. when it is no longer able to suck in air.
The power needs to remain off for a minimum of one minute, then it can • be reconnected, when the pump will automatically de-aerate.
Maintenance
Cleaning the filter
The following is the only maintenance that should be carried out by the end user:
If the pump is dismantled to any degree other than as described below, • any claim will be invalidated under warranty.
WARNING: Disconnect the pump from the mains supply before undertaking this work.
In the event that the suction base (3) becomes blocked, remove the 4 • crosshead screws from the suction base that will release the base from the body of the pump.
Check for any obstructions within the exposed area i.e. small stones or • gravel. it is suggested you also rinse this area of the base and the mesh filter with clean water before re-assembling the base. If used to pump chlorinated water or any liquid with residues, the pump should be rinsed after use with clean water.
WARNING: Disconnect the product from the mains supply BEFORE any such work is undertaken. When not in use, protect the pump from frost damage and store in a dry place. No further disassembly should be undertaken.
