• Be careful not to hit or cut the fuel tank, or fuel lines, when the tool is
placed on the ground.
• Do not let the tool fall or it may be damaged and become unsafe.
• Store the tool away from direct sunlight.
• Ensure that fuel and oil is stored in a safe place, away from heat, direct
sunlight, any source of ignition, and out of reach of children.
Whenever the machine is out of use for an extended period of time, proceed as follows:
• Empty the fuel tank completely.
• Protect all metal engine parts from corrosion by coating them with oil.
• Remove the spark plug, put a few drops of oil into the cylinder and then
pull the recoil starter 2 to 3 times in order to distribute the oil evenly.
Replace the spark plug.

enough to ignite some materials. Ensure the generator is at least 1 metre away from buildings and other equipment during operation. Do not enclose the generator in any structure. Keep flammable materials away from the generator.
• The exhaust becomes very hot during operation and remains hot for
a considerable length of time even after the generator is switched off. Do not touch the exhaust when it is hot, let the generator cool down to ambient temperature before storing it indoors.
• Petrol is extremely ammable and potentially explosive under certain
circumstances. Do not smoke. Do not allow sparks or flames where the generator is refuelled or where petrol is stored. Refuel in a wellventilated area with the engine switched off.
Unpacking the Generator

Preparing the Generator
IMPORTANT: The Generator will be supplied without engine oil. Filling
and checking the engine oil level should always be done before use.
• Place Generator on at level ground.
• Unscrew Dipstick (22) from Oil Filler Point (23)
• Carefully pour in oil, of type and quantity in the specication.
• We recommend pouring the oil using a funnel with lter gauze to keep
dirt out. (Silverline Tools product 793799)
• Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle.
• Make sure the Dipstick (22) is clean and dry, then screw it all the way
back in to the Filler Point (23)
• Remove the Dipstick again, keeping the stick pointing down, as shown
in Fig H.
• Oil should be to the top of the cross-hatched area.
• Add oil until level is correct, then replace the Dipstick.
Operating the Generator
• Ensure the Generator is on rm, level ground, prepared as described
in this manual.
Fuelling
• Always refuel in a safe place, well away from the work area, and any
source of heat or ignition. Avoid any contact with the fuel.
• Only add fuel when the engine is stopped and has cooled fully.
• Remove Fuel Tank Cap (19) and ll with fuel, see specication.
• Store spare fuel in a suitable container. (Silverline Tools product
497251)

• Set Choke Lever (12):
NOTE – choke should only be ON if the engine is COLD
• Turn ignition switch (2) to ON
CHECK the exhaust area is clear of obstruction and flammable
materials. It will get hot quickly.
• Firmly pull starter handle (14 & Fig. E) until the engine starts
NOTE – after each pull of the starter handle (14) control its return. DO
NOT allow it to snap back towards the Generator.
• The engine will run at a fast idle, allow it to do this for 20 - 30 seconds
• Slowly reduce the amount of choke (12) as the engine warms up.
Stopping the Generator
• Turn off any connected items
• Turn AC Switch (5) to OFF
• Allow engine to run at idle speed for 30 seconds
• Turn Ignition Switch (2) to OFF position.
• Turn Fuel Lever (13) to OFF position
• Allow the Generator and engine to cool fully before attempting to move,
or carrying out any cleaning and maintenance.
Operating the Generator
• Always start and allow the generator to warm up for a minimum of 5
minutes before using the AC outputs. This will improve fuel efficiency and reduce wear, increasing the service life of your product.
• Ensure the AC Switch (5) is set to OFF.
• Plug your powered device into the correct Socket (6 or 8)
• Move the Output Switch (7) towards the chosen Socket.
• Move the AC Switch (5) to ON.
• Observe the Voltmeter (4) to check the output voltage is correct for the
device attached.
• When the connected device is switched on, it is normal for the
generator engine to change speed.

• Replace the Drain Plug (26) and tighten rmly with a ratchet.
• To replace the oil, see Preparing the Generator.
• Contact your local waste facility for advice about disposal of waste
engine oil.
Storage
• Be careful not to hit or cut the fuel tank, or fuel lines, when the unit is
placed on the ground.
• Do not let the tool fall, or it may be damaged and become unsafe.
• When you nish working, clean the unit thoroughly.
• Inspect the entire unit and tubes for damage, including loose or missing
components.
• Store the unit away from direct sunlight.

• Empty the fuel tank completely, then clean the carburettor and lines by
running the tool until it stops from lack of fuel.
• Protect all metal engine parts from corrosion by coating them with oil.
• Remove the spark plug, put several drops of oil into the cylinder through
the spark plug hole and then pull the recoil starter 2 to 3 times in order to distribute the oil evenly. Replace the spark plug and spark plug lead.
• Clean the air lter as described in the air lter section.
Troubleshooting
Power loss or sudden engine cut-out
• Check whether the fuel tank is empty.
• Check if there is water in the mixture. Drain and rinse the fuel system
with petrol.
• Check if the air lter is dirty. Clean the air lter.
Starting a flooded engine
• Disconnect the spark plug lead and use a spark plug wrench to remove
the spark plug by turning it anticlockwise.
• If the spark plug is fouled or is soaked with fuel, clean or replace the
plug as required.
• Clean excess fuel from the combustion chamber by cranking the engine
several times while the spark plug is removed.
• Install the spark plug and rmly tighten it with the spark plug wrench.
• Repeat the starting procedure as if the engine was already warm.
Disposal
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment, with household waste.
