WARNING: User exposure to tool vibration can result in loss of sense of
touch, numbness, tingling and reduced ability to grip. Long term exposure
can lead to a chronic condition. If necessary, limit the length of time
exposed to vibration and use anti-vibration gloves. Do not operate the tool
with hands below a normal comfortable temperature, as vibration will have
a greater effect. Use the figures provided in the specification relating to
vibration to calculate the duration and frequency of operating the tool.
Sound and vibration levels in the specification are determined according
to EN60745 or similar international standards. The figures represent
normal use for the tool in normal working conditions. A poorly maintained,
incorrectly assembled, or misused tool, may produce increased levels of

and vibration levels in the workplace that may be useful to domestic users
who use tools for long periods of time.
General Safety Warnings
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to
follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/
or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated
(corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work Area Safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite
accidents
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as
in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools
create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.

2) Electrical Safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in
any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded)
power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk

pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased
risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded

e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord

a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD
reduces the risk of electric shock
3) Personal Safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense
when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you
are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in
serious personal injury
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard
hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce
personal injuries

c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the
off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery
pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your
finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on
invites accidents
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power
tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power
tool may result in personal injury
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your
hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes,
jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction
and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly
used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards
4) Power Tool Use & Care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at
the rate for which it was designed
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous
and must be repaired
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery
pack from the power tool before making any adjustments,
changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive
safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do
not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these
instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous
in the hands of untrained users
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of
moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may
affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power
tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting
tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier
to control
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance
with these instructions, taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for
operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous
situation
5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using
only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of
the power tool is maintained

• When working on a vertical surface, always aim the heat gun downwards
to prevent debris from falling into the machine
• Use of the hot air gun on certain materials may result in toxic fumes
being emitted. Always allow adequate ventilation. Do not use in confined
spaces
• A good quality breathing mask, or respirator, should always be worn
when using this tool
• If working on pre-1960 paint finishes, there is an increased chance of
encountering lead-based paint. Lead is especially toxic to children,
pregnant women, or people with high blood pressure. If working on pre1960 paint finishes such people should not be allowed near to the work
area, even if provided with appropriate breathing protection
• This tool should never be used in conjunction with chemical paint or
varnish strippers. Use of heat guns with chemical strippers can produce
extremely harmful fumes
• Never use this tool near to any kind of fuel tank or gas cylinder
• Always dispose of waste material responsibly

Intended Use
• Hand-held electric hot air blower for domestic light to medium duty
applications. Suitable for stripping paint and other surface coatings,
curing new paint or filler, shrinking heat-shrink tubing and shrink-wrap,
pre-heating and drying applications, thawing frozen water pipes and
other DIY applications.
Hot Air Gun Safety
• Never allow any air vents to become blocked or obscured during use.
• Obscured inlet or outlet vents will cause the tool to rapidly
• Parts of this tool will become extremely hot during use. Do not touch any
part of the tool, other than the handle whilst in use
• Always switch off and allow to cool fully before handling or attempting to
change any fittings. Do not leave this tool unattended whilst hot
• Heat may be conducted to hidden areas or materials near to the work
area. Ensure that there are no flammable materials in the vicinity of the
work area
• Never aim the hot air gun towards people or animals
• Do not hold the outlet Nozzle (1) against any material
• Always keep the outlet Nozzle (1) at least 25mm away from the work
surface. Do not allow any object to enter the nozzle when the tool is
connected to the power supply
• Do not allow paint, or any other waste, to accumulate on the outlet nozzle
or scrapers. Residual heat may cause waste material to ignite, even after

Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all
its features and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If
any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before
attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before
attaching or changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Fitting Accessories
NOTE: Always ensure that the hot air gun is unplugged and fully cooled
before attempting to fit accessories.
• The Accessory Nozzles (5) supplied allow the hot air gun to be used for a
variety of different tasks
• Accessories are a push fit onto the Outlet Nozzle (1)
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing
protection, as well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.
• Always hold the machine by the handle provided
• Do not obscure the Inlet Vents (3)
• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment for the job that
you are to do. Use of this machine requires ear defenders, safety goggles,
gloves and a breathing mask
Switching on
• The outlet air temperature is controlled using the Temperature Control
Dial (2). To increase the temperature, rotate the dial clockwise. To reduce
the temperature, rotate the dial anti-clockwise
• The fan speed is controlled using the On/Off Switch (4)
• To activate the fan, slide the switch upwards until the figure “I” is visible.
The fan speed is adjustable through to “III”; this denotes the highest
fan speed
• Always return the switch to the downward position “0” before placing
the tool down
• Be aware that the metal parts of the tool will remain hot for some time
after switching off. Allow at least 30mins for the gun to cool before
leaving unattended
Paint stripping
• Connect the tool to the mains supply, and switch on
• Direct the hot air onto the paint to be removed, keeping the nozzle at
least 25mm away from the surface
NOTE: Take extra care when removing paint from window frames. The heat
from this tool can cause damage to glass if used carelessly.
• Allow the paint to soften and remove using a suitable scraper
• Do not overheat the paint, if you notice smoke or blackening, stop heating
• Do not allow waste to build up, or drop into the Outlet Nozzle (1) as it will
be a fire hazard
Pipe defrosting
• This hot air gun can be used to defrost frozen water pipes
• Using a suitable attachment, aim hot air at the frozen pipe. Move the hot
air gun along the pipe so that the whole length defrosts evenly
• Be aware of overheating areas directly behind the pipe being defrosted
• Do not attempt to defrost PVC pipe as the heat of the air may cause
permanent damage
Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out
any inspection, maintenance or cleaning.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear.
Repairs should be carried out by an authorised Silverline service centre.
This advice also applies to extension cords used with this tool
Cleaning
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts
to wear quickly, and shorten the machine’s service life. Clean the body of
your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean, dry,
compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes
• Clean the tool casing with a soft damp cloth using a mild detergent. Do
not use alcohol, petrol or strong cleaning agents
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts
Storage
• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children
Disposal
Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that
are no longer functional and are not viable for repair.
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment, with household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct
way to dispose of tools

Claims made within the guarantee period will be verified by Silverline Tools
to establish if the deficiencies are related to material or manufacturing of the
product. Carriage will not be refunded. Items for return must be in a suitably
clean and safe state for repair, and should be packaged carefully to prevent
damage or injury during transportation. We may reject unsuitable or
unsafe deliveries.
All work will be carried out by Silverline Tools or its authorized
repair agents. The repair or replacement of the product will not extend the
period of guarantee. Defects recognised by us as being covered by the
guarantee shall be corrected by means of repair of the tool, free of charge
(excluding carriage charges) or by replacement with a tool in perfect working
order. Retained tools, or parts, for which a replacement has been issued, will
become the property of Silverline Tools. The repair or replacement of your
product under guarantee provides benefits which are additional to and do not
affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Sécurité électrique

courant, réduiront les risques de décharge électrique.
b. Éviter le contact corporel avec les surfaces mises à la terre telles
que tuyaux, radiateurs, cuisinières et réfrigérateurs. Le risque de
décharge électrique est plus important si votre corps est mis à la terre.
c. Ne pas exposer votre outil électrique à la pluie ou à l’humidité.

maintenant le doigt posé sur l’interrupteur ou brancher un appareil

Cela permet de mieux contrôler l’appareil électrique dans des
situations inattendues.
f. Porter des vêtements appropriés. Ne pas porter de vêtements
amples ou des bijoux pendants. Eloigner cheveux, vêtements et
gants des pièces en mouvement. Les vêtements amples, les bijoux
pendants et cheveux longs peuvent être happés par les pièces en
rotation.

4. Utilisation et entretien des appareils électriques
a) Ne pas surcharger l’outil électrique. Utiliser l’outil électrique
approprié au travail à effectuer. Un outil électrique adapté et
employé au rythme pour lequel il a été conçu permettra de réaliser
un travail de meilleure qualité et dans de meilleures conditions de
sécurité.
b. Ne pas utiliser un outil électrique dont l’interrupteur marche-arrêt
est hors service. Tout outil électrique dont la commande ne s’effectue
plus par l’interrupteur marche-arrêt est dangereux et doit être réparé.
c. Débrancher l’outil électrique avant d’effectuer tout réglage,
changement d’accessoire ou avant de le ranger. De telles mesures
préventives réduiront les risques de démarrage accidentel.
d. Ranger les outils électriques inutilisés hors de portée des enfants
et ne pas permettre l’utilisation de ces outils aux personnes
novices ou n’ayant pas connaissance de ces instructions. Les
outils électriques sont dangereux dans les mains d’utilisateurs
inexpérimentés.
e. Veiller à l’entretien des outils électriques. Vérifier que les
éléments rotatifs soient bien alignés et non grippés. S’assurer

endommagé, le faire réparer avant toute utilisation. De nombreux
accidents sont causés par l’utilisation d’outils électriques mal
entretenus.
f. Garder les outils de coupe affûtés et propres. Des outils de coupe
bien entretenus, aux tranchants bien affûtés, sont moins susceptibles
de se gripper et sont plus faciles à contrôler.
g. Utiliser l’outil électrique, les accessoires et les outils à monter,
etc., conformément à ces instructions et selon l’utilisation prévue
pour le type d’outil donné, en tenant compte des conditions
de travail et de la tâche à réaliser. Toute utilisation de cet outil
électrique autre que celle pour laquelle il a été conçu peut entraîner
des situations à risque et entraînerait une annulation de sa garantie.
5. Entretien
a) Ne faire réparer votre appareil électrique que par un réparateur
qualifié utilisant uniquement des pièces de rechange identiques.
Cela permet de maintenir la sécurité d’utilisation de l’appareil
électrique.
Consignes de sécurité relatives
aux pistolets décapeurs
• Ne laissez jamais les aérations s’obstruer en cours d’utilisation. Une prise
d’air ou une buse obstruée provoqueront une surchauffe rapide de l’outil.
• Certaines parties de cet appareil atteindront des températures élevées
en cours d’utilisation. Pendant l’utilisation, ne touchez aucune partie de
l’outil autre que sa poignée.
• La chaleur peut se propager à des parties cachées ou à des objets et
matériaux se trouvant à proximité de la zone de travail. Assurez-vous
qu’il ne se trouve aucun matériau inflammable dans la zone de travail.
• Ne dirigez jamais le pistolet décapeur vers des personnes ou des
animaux.
• N’appliquez pas la buse de sortie contre un matériau quel qu’il soit.
• Tenez toujours la buse de sortie à une distance minimale de 25 mm de
la surface à traiter. Ne laissez aucun objet pénétrer dans la buse lorsque
l’outil est branché sur le secteur.
• Ne laissez pas s’accumuler la peinture ou autres résidus sur la
buse de sortie ou les grattoirs. La chaleur résiduelle peut provoquer
l’inflammation de ces résidus, même après que l’outil a été éteint.
• Lors du traitement de surfaces verticales, dirigez toujours le pistolet
décapeur vers le bas afin que les débris ne tombent pas dans l’appareil.
• L’utilisation du pistolet décapeur sur certains matériaux peut entraîner
un dégagement de vapeurs toxiques. Prévoyez toujours une ventilation
adéquate. N’utilisez pas cet appareil dans des espaces clos.
• Il convient de toujours porter un masque filtrant ou un appareil de
protection respiratoire de bonne qualité lors de l’utilisation de cet
appareil.
• Si vous travaillez sur des parements réalisés avant 1960, sachez que
la probabilité de rencontrer des peintures à base de plomb est grande.
Le plomb est particulièrement toxique pour les enfants, les femmes
enceintes ou les personnes souffrant d’hypertension. Si vous travaillez
sur des parements réalisés avant 1960, ne laissez pas ces personnes
s’approcher de la zone de travail, même si elles sont munies d’une
protection respiratoire.
