2-2 Configuring the
Parallel Pro
Prior to installing the
Parallel Pro
, verify the configuration about your computer. The factory default jumper settings should work with most systems. However, you should make sure that the default settings on the board are different from any other existing devices' in your system. A conflict results when two addresses are the same. Please refer to the following sections for alternate jumper settings and
Chapter 3: Verifying and Configuring System Resources
for
more information regarding system resources.
2-2.1 Setting Jumpers
The following illustrates the installed positions on a 2-pin jumper. It also shows the non-jumpered position and position for convenient storing.
To change a jumper, simply remove a selected jumper by pulling up on its pull tab. To install a jumper, center it over the two appropriate pins and push down gently until it is seated.

2-2.3 Configuring the Parallel (Printer) Port
The parallel port is factory set as I/O port address 278h, IRQ9, ECP/EPP mode and DMA 3. These configurations can be changed by resetting J2, J3, J4 and J1 respectively.
