Installation
Hardware Installation
General instructions for installing the PC Card CF R/W are provided below. Since the design of computers vary, refer to your system’s reference manual for further information, if needed.
1. Insert a memory card into the PC Card CF R/W then insert the adapter into the PC Card slot of the computer. Push the PC Card CF R/W into the slot gently, yet firmly for a solid connection.
2. If your system was powered off when you plugged in the PC Card CF R/W, turn it on and driver will install automatically.
Driver Installation
Important: The PC Card CF R/W with CF memory card must be inserted into the computer before running the driver installation.
Windows will automatically install it's built in driver for the PC Card CF R/W when inserted.
To Verify Windows Installation
1. Check Device Manager for proper installation. For Windows 7: Right click Computer, click Manage.

For Windows Vista: Right click Computer, click Manage, click Continue.
For Windows XP / Server 2003 / 2000 : Right click My Computer, click Manage.
For Windows Server 2008: Right click Computer, click Manage, double click Diagnostics.
2. Click Device Manager, then double click Disk drives.
3. The serial/model of the memory card should be listed.
Inserting Memory Cards
CompactFlash memory cards are keyed for proper insertion into the card reader with minimum pressure. Make sure the CompactFlash label is facing up when inserted. Important: Insert your CF/Microdrive memory card into the PC Card to CF R/W before inserting the adapter into the computer.
Accessing Memory Cards
When the reader/writer is is working properly, a
Removable Disk icon will appear in Computer/My Computer. To access the memory card, double click the
disk icon.

Removing Memory Cards
Use the Safely Remove Hardware utility to stop the PC Card CF R/W before removing or changing memory
cards. Not doing so may damage the computer, cause data corruption or data loss. Follow the steps below for your version of Windows.
Windows 7
1. Click the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon located in the taskbar by the system
clock.
2. Click Eject [memory card model] ATA Device.
3. When Safe to Remove Hardware box pops up, the PC Card CF R/W can be ejected from the computer.
Windows 7 / Vista / XP / Server 2003 & 2008
1. Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon located in the taskbar by the system clock.
2. Click Safely remove PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI

3. When Safe to Remove Hardware box pops up, the
PC Card CF R/W can be ejected from the computer.

Windows 2000
1. Click the Unplug or Eject Hardware icon located in the taskbar by the system clock.
2. Click Stop PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI Controller
3. At the Safe To Remove Hardware box, click OK.
4. When Safe to Remove Hardware box pops up, the PC Card CF R/W can be ejected from the computer.
