INTRODUCTION
The Model T110 Test Source from Siemens Building Technologies, Inc., is designed specifically for on-site testing of the S121 and S122 Flame Detectors. When the plate with the guide is attached, the T110 is self-aligning and checks both the sensitivity and response time of the detectors. The Test Source consists of a module in a cradle. The module can be held by hand up to the detector to be tested or can be fastened to the end of an extendable pole with an adapter and then held up against the detector.
This Test Source is approved by BASEEFA for use in all zone 1 and zone 2 areas with gases rated T1 and T4. Approval for zone 0 areas is not available for this equipment; however, permission for such use may be obtained on a site-by-site basis.
The Test Source has a polycarbonate housing approved for increased safety.
It contains a lamp that is electrically pulsed by an intrinsically safe circuit. Infrared energy from the lamp is focused on the detector through a Fresnel lens. The unit is powered by either a carbon zinc or nickel cadmium battery.
The large rotary switch knob on the front of the unit (See Figure 1) is used to turn the Test Source on and off. The knob is also used to select the correct sensitivity level for testing either S121 (Sxx1) or S122 (Sxx2).
The extendable pole that can be used with the Test Source comes in 4 foot, 4 inch sections that slot into each other and are connected to the Tl10 with the Extendable Pole Adapter (See Figure
2). The maximum recommended length of the pole is three sections (approximately 13 feet).
