Operating instructions QAW850 / RRV852
The QAW850 is the optional Night zone control unit for the RRV852 Duo-zone control system. This system allows you to
control your heating and / or cooling and to set your ideal temperature conditions within the two main areas of your home. The
system is divided into the main living area (Day zone) and the main night time area (Night zone). An Auto timer mode with a 7
day programmable schedule is provided. Refer to QAX850/RRV852 Duo-zone operation instructions for master control unit
details.––
System Off (Standby)
Day zone: System supplies air to the day zone
only and controls to the day zone temperature
setpoint

Press this button during Night zone operation to turn system off. System off will be indicated by the standby
symbol . You can also turn Night zone operation on by this standby button.
Some systems will include extreme high / low temperature protection activation during – contact your supplier
for further details.
Operation modes
Press button to select operation of Day zone or Night zone or Both zone or Auto Timer mode.
Do you want Day zone operation only?
Press button until display shows symbol.
Day zone temperature is maintained according
to the Day zone setpoint. A Heat or Cool
symbol will be displayed to indicate the
selected system mode.
Do you want Night zone operation only?
Press button until display shows symbol.
Night zone temperature is maintained
according to the Night zone setpoint. A Heat
or Cool symbol will be displayed to indicate
the selected system mode.
Do you want both Day and Night zones to
operate together?
Press button until display shows both
symbol. Day and Night zone temperature is
maintained according to the Both zone setpoint
and the average actual temperature between
both zones. Heat or Cool symbol will be
displayed to indicate the selected system mode.
Do you wish to change to Auto Timer mode?
Press button until display shows symbol.
The system will automatically change over
between Day and standby or Night zone and
standby according to 8 pre-programmed timers.
Note: Program schedule of auto timer is set via
the QAX850 master room unit.

Do you want to change the Night zone
temperature setpoint?
The permanent night, day and Both zone setpoints can be
set on the QAX850. Refer to QAX850/RRV852 user
instructions.
During Night or Both zone operation are you too
warm / too cold?

You can temporarily adjust the temperature
setpoint when in Night zone or Both zone
operation. Press or button to adjust the
temperature setpoint. You can increase or
decrease the room temperature setpoint in steps
of 0.5 °C. The maximum range is from 5°C to
35°C, however it is recommended to not exceed
18°C to 26°C range. Setpoints will revert back to
permanent setpoint settings after any mode
change.
If you constantly need to adjust the temperature
setpoint via the QAW850, it is recommended that
you re-adjust the permanent setpoints of Night
zone or Both zone on the QAX850 master
room unit.
What is the green LED for?
The green LED indicates when heating or cooling energy is
activated.
Note: This document provides user instructions for the
QAW850 only. For more detailed technician information on
the Duo-zone system please refer to RRV852 installation /
commissioning guide.
Energy saving tips without sacrificing comfort
Never allow room temperatures to exceed 21°C when
heating or fall below 22°C when cooling.
Select System Off mode when absent for extended periods.
Although auto-changeover of heat / cool is possible, it is
recommended you select cool mode only in summer and
heat mode only in winter.
