Beachten Sie bei der Verwendung des Sicherheits-Lichtvorhangs C4000 – ATEX II 3 G/3D
zusätzlich zu den Angaben in der zugrunde liegenden Betriebsanleitung die folgenden
Hinweise.
2.1 Verwendungsbereiche des Gerätes
Das Gerät ist eine BW S Typ 4 gemäß IEC 61496-1 und IEC 61 496-2 und darf deshalb in
Steuerungen der Kategorie 4 gemäß EN ISO 13849-1 eingesetzt werde n. Das Gerät erfüllt
die ATEX-Anforderungen nach EN 60 079-0, EN 60079-15, EN 60 079-28 für Kate gorie 3G
und nach EN 61241-0, EN 60079-31 für Ka tegorie 3D.
2.2 Allgemeine Sicherheitshinweise und Schutzmaßnahmen

Sicherheitshinweise
Beachten Sie die nachfolgenden Punkte, um die bestimmungsgemäße, sichere
Verwendung des Sicherheits-Lichtvorhangs C4000 – ATEX II 3G/3D zu gewährleisten.
• Für Einbau und Verwendung elektrischer Geräte in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen
sowie für die Inbetriebnahme und wiederkehrende technische Überprüfungen gelten
besondere nationale/internationale Rechtsvorschriften, insbesondere die ATEXRichtlinie.
Hersteller und Bediener der Maschine, an welcher der Sicherheits-Lichtvorhang
verwendet wird, müssen alle geltenden Sicherheitsvorschriften/-regeln in eigener
Verantwortung mit der für sie zuständigen Behörde abstimmen und einhalten.
• Dieses Addendum ist dem Bediener der Maschine, an der der Sicherheits-Lichtvorhang
C4000 – ATEX II 3 G/3D verwendet wird, zusammen mit der zugrunde liegenden
Betriebsanleitung zur Verfügung zu stellen. Der Maschinenbediener ist durch
Sachkundige einz uweisen und zum Lesen und Einhalten der Betriebsanleitung
anzuhalten.
Schützen Sie die Frontscheibe des Sicherheits-Licht vorhangs v or UV-St r ah lung!
UV-Strahlung kann die Lebensdauer und Beständigkeit der Gerätefrontscheibe reduzieren.
Beim Einsatz im explosionsgeschützten Bereich darf die Frontscheibe keiner UV-Strahlung
(z. B. Sonnenlicht) ausgesetzt werden.
Wählen Sie die Montageposition so, dass die Frontscheibe keiner UV-Strahlung
ausgesetzt ist.

Beachten Sie die maximale mechanische Beanspruchung des SicherheitsLichtvorhangs!
Der Sicherheits-Lichtvorhang C4000 – ATEX II 3 G/3D besteht die Schlagfestigkeitsprüfung
nach Normanforderung. Er darf nur mechanischen Belastungen bis maximal 4 Joule für
Gerätebauteile aus Kunststoff bzw. bis maximal 2 Joule bei lichtdurchlässigen Teilen
(Frontscheibe) ausgesetzt werden.

3 Elektroinstallation
Beachten Sie bei der Elektroinstallation des Sicherheits-Lichtvorhangs C4000 – ATEX II
3G/3D zusätzlich zu den Angaben in der zugrunde liegenden Betriebsanleitung die
folgenden Hinweise.
Die Bemessungsspannung darf nicht überschritten werden!
Beim Einsatz im explosionsgeschützten Bereich gelten besondere Anforderungen an die
Spannungsversorgung:
Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Bemessungsspannung auch bei vorübergehenden Störungen
nicht um mehr als 40 % ansteigen kann. Bei einer maximal zulässigen Versorgungsspannung von 28,8 V darf diese also 40,3 V nicht überschreiten.
Trennen Sie die elektrischen Anschlüsse des Gerätes nur in spannungsfr eiem Z u st and !
Beim Trennen Strom führender Teile können Funken entstehen. Dadurch besteht im explosionsgefährdeten Bereich Lebensgefahr.
Schalten Sie immer erst die Spannungsversorgung aus, bevor Sie eine Anschlussleitung
vom Gerät trennen.
Ste llen Sie sic her, dass alle elektrischen Anschlüsse des Gerätes gesteckt oder
geschützt sind!
Die IP-Schutzart der Anschlüsse und somit des Gerätes ist nur garantiert, wenn die Anschlüsse geschützt sind. Andernfalls können Fremdkörper in den Anschluss eindringen.
Dies könnte beim nächsten Einschalten eine Explosion hervorrufen.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass alle elektrischen Anschlüsse stets gesteckt und verschraubt
sind.
Oder:
Drehen Sie die am Gerät hängende Schutzkappe fest auf den elektrischen Anschluss,
wenn dieser nicht verbunden ist.
Treffen Sie in jedem Fall technische Vorkehrungen, um auch die IP-Schutzart der An-
schlussleitungen aufrechtzuerhalten.

elektrischen Geräteanschlüsse an (1× für Sende r, 1× für Em pfänger)!
Beachten Sie bei der Pflege des Sicherheits-Lichtvorhangs C4000 – ATEX II 3G/3D zusätzlich zu den Angaben in der zugrunde liegenden Betriebsanleitung die folgenden Hinweise.
Gefahr der statischen Aufladung!
Gerätefrontscheibe und Gehäuse nur mit feuchtem Tuch reinigen!
Die Frontscheibe und die Gehäusebeschichtung des Sicherheits-Lichtvorhangs C 4000 –
ATEX II 3 G/3D sind aus Kunststoff und können sich elektrostatisch aufladen. Beim Einsatz
des Gerätes im explosionsgefährdeten Bereich müssen Sie dies verhindern.
Verwenden Sie zur Reinigung ausschließlich feuchte Tücher.
SICK bietet zu diesem Zweck den antistatischen Kunststoffreiniger (SICK-Art.-Nr.
5600006) und das SIC K-Optiktuch (Art.-Nr. 4003353) an.

When using the C4000 – ATEX II 3G/3D safety light curtain, observe the following notes in
addition to the information in the underlying operating instructions.
2.1 Applications of the device
The device is a type 4 ESPE as defined by IEC 61496-1 and IEC 61 496-2 and is therefore
allowed for use with category 4 controls as per EN ISO 13849-1. The device meets the
ATEX-requirements in compliance with EN 60079-0, EN 60079-15, EN 60079-28 for
category 3G and in compliance with EN 61241-0, EN 60079-31 for catego ry 3D.
2.2 General safety notes and protective measures
Safety notes
Please observe the following procedures in order to ensure the correct and safe use of the
C4000 – ATEX II 3 G/3D safety light curtain.
• For the installation and usage of electrical devices in explosive areas, as well as for
commissioning and periodic technical inspections, special national/international rules
and regulations apply, in particular the ATEX directive.
Manufacturers and operators of the machine with which the safety light curtain is used
are responsible for obtaining and observing all applicable safety regulations and rules.
• This addendum must be made available to the operator of the machine where the
C4000 – ATEX II 3 G/3D safety light curtain is used, together with the original operating
instructions. The machine operator is to be instructed in the use of the device by specialist personnel and must be instructed to read and observe the operating instructions.

Protect the front screen on the safety light curtain against UV radiation!
UV radiation can reduce the service life and durability of the device front screen. On usage
in an explosion-protected area, the front screen must not be subjected to any UV radiation
(e.g. sunlight).
Choose the mounting position such that the front screen is not subjected to any UV
radiation.
Pay attention to the maximum mechanical load on the safety light curtain!
The C4000 – ATEX II 3G/3D safety light curtain withstands the impact strength test in
accordance with the requirements in the standards. It is only allowed to be subject to
mechanical loads up to a maximum of 4 Joules for device components made of plastic and
up to a max imum of 2 Joules for transparent parts (front screen).

3 Electrical installation
During the electrical installation of the C4000 – ATEX II 3G/3D safety light curtain, observe
the follow ing notes in addition to the information in the underlying operating instructions.
The rated voltage must not be exceeded!
When used in an explosion-protected area, special requirements apply to the power
supply:
Ensure that the rated voltage cannot be exceeded by more than 40 %, even in the case
of temporary faults. At a maximum permitted supply voltage of 28.8 V, 40.3 V must not
be exceeded.
Only disconnect the electrical connections of the device when power is switched off!
On the disconnection of parts carrying electrical power, sparks may be produced. This will
result in a serious risk of injury in an explosive area.
Always first switch off the power supply before you disconnect a connection cable from
the device.
Ensure that all electr ical co nnections are made to the device or the connections are
protected!
The IP enclosure rating for the connections and thus the device is only guaranteed when
the connections are protected. Otherwise foreign objects may enter the connection
chamber. This could cause an explosion the next time the device is switched on.
Ensure that all electrical connections are always made and screwed tight.
Or:
Screw the protective cap attached to the device onto the electrical connection and
tighten if the connection is not used.
In any case take appropriate technical precautions to maintain the IP enclosure rating of
the connection cables.

Apply the two labels supplied “Notes for ATEX II 3G/3D” in a language the operating
personnel can understand and such that they are clearly visible near the device or the
electrical device connections (1 × for sender, 1 × receiver)!
4 Care and maintenance
During care and maintenance of the C4000 – ATEX II 3 G/3D safety light curtain, observe
the following notes in addition to the information in the underlying operating instructions.

Only clean de vice fr ont screen and housing with damp clot h!
The front screen and the housing coating on the C4000 – ATEX II 3G/3D safety light curtain are made of plastic and can become electrostatically charged. On using the device in
such an explosive area, you must prevent this static build up.
Only use damp cloths for cleaning.
Note
For this purpose, SICK offers the antistatic plastic cleaner (SICK part number 560 0006)
and the SICK optical cloth (part number 4003353).
