AM 6040 Ambient Microphone Unit
Description
The AM 6040 Ambient Microphone Unit is a fully digital DSP microprocessor based microphone unit designed to detect ambient noise in a conference room.
An ambient noise microphone is used to provide sound from the meeting, when there is no speaker using the microphones. The microphone should be placed in a central location in the room, not too close to anyone. This allows the microphone to pick up sound from activities in the room like chairs being moved, paper being picked up and e.g. low voices.
Transmission of ambient noise is desirable for listeners attending the meeting via headphones. The ambient noise indicates to the listeners that there is no conversation going on. This information is essential for interpreters when a speaker stops talking.
The unit is designed to be installed above a recesses ceiling for connection to an external microphone, like a model HM 4042. The AM 6040 is automatically recognized and receives a unique address in the system, when connected to the DCS-LAN.
The AM 6040 is delivered in a shielded metal mounting box like the MU 6040.

• DCS-LAN connection uses CAT 5e (or higher) shielded F/UTP or U/FTP cabling
• Adjustable volume setting from the browser interface
• One ambient microphone supports an entire the DCS 6000 system
