DESCRIPTION
The 14A microphone can be used for karaoke, in sound reinforcement
or recording, to pick up voices or instruments, indoors or outdoors.

BASIC RULES FOR MICROPHONE USE
1. Aim a directional microphone toward the desired sound source (for
instance, talker, singer, musical instrument) and away from undesired
sources (such as loudspeakers or another instrument) [Figure 1].
2. Locate the microphone as close as practical to the desired sound source.
3. Do not pick up the same sound source with more than one microphone.
Keep the distance between multiple microphones at least three times the
distance from each source to its intended microphone.
4. Use the fewest microphones practical for the particular application.
5. When extra bass response is desirable, work close to the microphone.
This phenomenon is known as “proximity effect”.
6. Locate microphones as far as possible from acoustically reflective (hard,
smooth) surfaces.
7. Add an external windscreen when additional pop protection is needed:
outdoors in windy conditions or for closeup vocal use.
8. Avoid excessively handling the microphone to minimize mechanical
noise pickup.
9. To preserve directional characteristics, do not obstruct the grille with your
hand [Figure 2].

RÈGLES ÉLÉMENTAIRES D’UTILISATION DE MICROPHONES
1. Diriger le microphone vers la source sonore (telle qu’un instrument de
musique, un orateur, un chanteur) loin des sources indésirables (haut–
parleurs ou autres instruments) [Figure 1].
2. Pour un gain maximum avant larsen, placer le microphone le plus près
possible de la source sonore.
3. Ne pas u tiliser p lusieurs m icrophones p our c apter u ne m ê me s ource s onore. La distance entre des m icrophones m ultiples d oit ê tre d ’au m oins t rois
fois celle de chaque source au microphone qui lui est affecté.
4. Utiliser le moins de microphones possible pour l’application.
5. Pour obtenir davantage de basses, rapprocher le microphone de la source sonore. Ce phénomène est appelé «effet de proximité».
6. Placer le microphone le plus loin possible des surfaces réfléchissantes
(dures et lisses).
7. Ajouter un coupe–vent lorsqu’une protection accrue contre les bruits de
vent ou de bouche est nécessaire : à l’extérieur ou pour la prise de son
vocale rapprochée.
8. Éviter la manipulation excessive du microphone pour minimaliser les
bruits mécaniques.
9. Pour conserver les caractéristiques directionnelles, ne pas obstruer la
grille du microphone avec la main [Figure 2].

GRUNDREGELN FÜR DEN MIKROFONGEBRAUCH
1. Richtmikrofone auf die gewünschte Schallquelle (z .B. Sprec her, Sänger
oder Musikinstrument) und weg von unerwünschten Schallquellen (wie
z.B. Lautsprechern oder anderen Instrumenten) richten [Abbildung 1].
2. Das Mikrofon so nahe wie möglich an der gewünschten Schallquelle aufstellen.
3. Die gleiche Schallquelle nicht mit mehreren Mikrofonen aufnehmen. Den
Abstand zwischen den Mikrofonen mindestens dreimal so groß wie den
Abstand jeder Schallquelle zu dem dafür vorgesehenen Mikrofon halten.
4. So wenig Mikrofone einsetzen, wie es die praktischen Einsatzbedingungen zulassen.
5. Wird ein kräftiger Baß gewünscht, so ist im Nahbereich des Mikrofons zu
arbeiten. Dieses Phänomen wird als $Proximity–Effekt“ bezeichnet.
6. Die Mikrofone so weit wie möglich von akustisch reflektierenden (harten,
glatten) Oberflächen entfernt aufstellen.
7. Wird zusätzlicher Popschutz erforderlich, z.B. bei Außenaufnahmen unter windigen Bedingungen oder bei Nahbesprechung, ein externes Popfilter anbringen.
8. Das Mikrofon möglichst ruhig in der Hand halten, um mechanische Störgeräusche zu vermeiden.
9. Zur Erhaltung der präzisen Richtcharakteristik darf der Grill nicht mit der
Hand verdeckt werden [Abbildung 2].

REGLAS BASICAS DE USO DE MICROFONOS
1. Coloque el micrófono direccional hacia la fuente sonora deseada (por
ejemplo, un orador, cantante o instrumento musical) y alejado de las
fuentes no deseadas (tales como los altoparlantes u otros instrumentos)
[Figura 1].
2. Coloque el micrófono lo más cerca posible a la fuente sonora deseada.
3. No utilice más de un micrófono para captar una misma fuente sonora.
La distancia entre un micrófono y otro deberá ser al menos tres veces
la distancia de cada fuente al micrófono destinado para captarla.
4. Utilice el menor número de micrófonos que resulte práctico para la aplicación particular.
5. Si se desea obtener mayor respuesta a frecuencias bajas, acérquese al
micrófono. Este fenómeno se conoce como el “efecto de proximidad”.
6. Coloque los micrófonos lo más lejos posible de las superficies reflectoras de sonido (superficies duras o lisas).
7. Instale una pantalla contra viento externa si se necesita eliminar una mayor cantidad de chasquidos: a la intemperie si hace mucho viento, o para
captar voces a corta distancia.
8. Evite el manejo excesivo del micrófono para reducir la captación de ruidos mecánicos.
9. Para conservar la característica de captación direccional, no cubra parte
alguna de la rejilla con la mano [Figura 2].

REGOLE FONDAMENTALI PER L’USO DEL MICROFONO
1. Rivolgere un microfono direzionale verso la sorgente sonora desiderata
(per esempio, un cantante, un oratore o uno strumento musicale) e tenerlo lontano da sorgenti indesiderate (come diffusori o altri strumenti)
[Figura 1].
2. T enere i l microfono quanto più vicino possibile alla sorgente sonora desiderata.
3. Non usare più di un microfono per ricevere la stessa sorgente sonora.
Tra due microfoni qualsiasi mantenere una distanza uguale ad almeno
tre volte la distanza fra ciascuna sorgente e il relativo microfono.
4. Usare il minor numero di microfoni possibile per l’applicazione in oggetto.
5. Quando si desidera una risposta più elevata ai bassi, tenere il microfono
molto vicino alla sorgente sonora, per sfruttare il fenomeno noto come
“effetto di prossimità”.
6. Tenere il microfono quanto più lontano possibile da superfici che riflettono le frequenze audio (superfici rigide e regolari).
7. Quando è necessario attutire ulteriormente gli schiocchi, ad esempio
all’aperto in condizioni ventose o in applicazioni vocali con il microfono
tenuto molto vicino alle labbra, aggiungere un antivento esterno.
8. Evitare spostamenti eccessivi del microfono, per ridurre al minimo la ricezione di suoni di natura meccanica.
9. Per non alterare le caratteristiche direzionali del microfono, non ostruirne
la griglia con la mano [Figura 2].
