INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
RIGHT ANGLE AND STRAIGHT BUSHING
PROTECTION BOOTS 7.2-17.5kV
INSTALL THE TERMINATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MAIN INSTRUCTION
Notes to consider:-
Bushing Boots do not provide touch protection.
Use a suitable heat source, preferably a Propane Gas Torch.
Switchgear Bushings differ in size and length depending on the manufacturer, user
should determine whether the Boot supplied is suitable for the particular application.
Short skirt version is available upon request.

1) Clean and de-grease the epoxy Bushings
before proceeding.
2) Wrap the Black Mastic Tape around the
Connector and Metalwork to build a smooth
profile.

Note:- Extend the Tape onto the Bushing and
Heatshrink Insulation by 15mm as indicated in
Fig 1.

3. Position the Boot to the back of the Bushing.
With a suitable heat source, commence shrinking
at the back end of the Boot Skirt. Shrink evenly
all around the larger diameter Skirt until fully
shrunk onto the Bushing, then continue
shrinking the Leg to the Core.
Note:-
A) It may be necessary to reposition the Boot
whilst hot, in order to ensure it is correctly
aligned.
B) Once the Boot is fully shrunk, it is
recommended that the Boot is heated for a
further 10 seconds around the Skirt end to
ensure a full circumferential seal is achieved.
