Approximate Tongue Weight for Best Towing.
Tongue weight too high, move the axle assembly forward. Tongue
weight too low, move the axle assembly backward. Tongue weight
should be 5% to 7% of the total gross weight of the boat and
trailer combined.
Tongue Weight Adjustment
Refer to tire side wall for correct tire pressure.
Final Assembly Instructions for the DK2146T B, DK2346T B & DK2446T B
Remove the small parts from the frame by cutting the bands.
Remove the bolt bag and sort all nuts and bolts by size.
Rocker Boxes:
Align the center hole of 6239210, rocker arm, with the center hole
of spring bracket. Secure with a 3/4” X 4-1/2” hex bolt from
outside-in and tighten with a 3/4” hex lock nut. Repeat on the
other side of the trailer.
Axles:
Fasten the springs to the axles with the 1/2” X 6-1/2” axle u-bolts,
spring plate (Ref.#121) and 1/2” flange lock nuts. NOTE: Make
certain the hook end of the springs point in the same direction - to
the rear of the trailer - on both axles! For the rear spring and axle
assembly - place a S-3207 - galvanized spring bracket bushing
(Ref.#118) in the rear of the spring bracket. Insert a 9/16” X 3-1/4”
hex bolt through the bracket from the outside in and tightened with
a 9/16” hex lock nut. Slide the end of the hook spring over the
bushing; raise the front of the spring and fasten with a 9/16” X 3-1/
4” hex bolt and 9/16” hex lock nut.
For installation of the front spring and axle assembly repeat the
above procedure, however, place the bushing in the rocker box in
the hook end of the spring. Insert the bolts and secure with lock
nuts as before.
Tongue:
Slip the tongue into the front frame cap of the frame. Line up the
holes; fasten the tongue in the frame with a 1/2” X 4-1/4” hex bolt
and 1/2” flange lock nut at the front of the frame cap; fasten the
tongue in the rear of the frame cap with a 1/2” X 1-1/2” hex bolt
and 1/2” lock nut at the rear of the frame cap. Pull the wire
harness through the hole in the top of the tongue, then backward
out of the tongue. Place rubber grommet in the hole. Plug the
tongue harness into the frame harness.
Actuator & Safety Chain:
Slide the actuator (Ref.#138) into the actuator housing unit
(Ref.#137) and secure with two (pins) and snap rings provided
with the actuator. Secure the actuator-housing unit to the front of
the tongue using three (3) 1/2” X 4” hex bolts and 1/2” flat washer
on 1/2” X 5” hex bolt on the lower right mounting hole on the
tongue, secure the safety chain. Place a 1/2” flat washer on the 1/
2” X 5” hex bolt followed by one (1) safety chain and insert into the
actuator housing unit and the tongue. Place the second safety
chain on the bolt followed by a 1/2” flat washer and 1/2” flange
lock nut. Tighten.
Brakes:
Refer to the brake manual for service and maintenance.
Mount the tire and rim assemblies using 80-90 ft. lbs. torque on
the lug nuts.

Winch Post:
Install the winch post on the tongue in the desired position and
secure with 1/2” X 4” carriage bolts and 1/2” flange lock nuts.
Install the winch handle on the winch shaft using the hardware
provided.
NOTE: The law requires that the white ground wire on both
the tongue wire harness and vehicle harness be properly
grounded to the respective trailer and vehicle frames.
Trailer Adjustments
Bunk Assembly:
Position the adjustable bracket (60047--) onto the crossmembers
in a location that best fits your deck boat. Secure with 1/2” X 3-9/
16” u-bolts, adjustable bunk bracket clamp (6046200) and 1/2”
lock washer and 1/2” hex nut. Refer to drawing on page 3 for
placement.
Install and secure the 2X6 bunk onto the bunk brackets with 3/8” X
1” hex bolts and 3/8” flange lock nuts. Make sure the bunk s are
positioned so that the bunk bracket attached to the bunk and the
bracket attached to the frame are mounted together so that you
have metal to metal stops to keep the bunks from pivoting too far.
Tighten as far as possible but still allow the bunk to fully pivot side
to side.
Post Load Guide:
Install the post load guide with 1/2” X 6-1/2” carriage bolt (with
bolts front to rear of the frame) and spring load guide back
washer. On the inside of the side frame put a cupwasher, spring,
cupwasher, 1/2” flat washer and 1/2” flange lock nut. Repeat on
the other side of the trailer. Refer to the parts drawing on page 3
for proper placement of the hardware.
CAUTION: The post load guide should not rub the boat while
being transported.
Assembly should be complete except for tightening some of
the bolts. These bolts were left loose to aid in the adjusting
the trailer to the boat only. All bolts and nuts must be
tightened before towing.
Place the boat onto the trailer so that it is resting on the rear
bunks and the front rollers. Position the boat front to back by
having the rear of the boat flush so that the transom is being
supported by the bunk. Once the boat is positioned as above
make the following adjustments.
Bunks:
NOTE: The center bunks do NOT support the deck boat. Bunks
are used mainly for easier loading and unloading. NOTE: The
bunks should be adjusted to the hull of the boat as close as
possible.
Winch Post:
Before adjusting the winch post check to see that the transom of
the boat is flush with the rollers and bunks. Loosen the winch post
base bolts and slide into position. Remove the rear 1/2” X 5” hex
bolt and spacer that secures the winch holder to the winch base.
Pivot the winch holder (upper portion) to the desired position just
above the bow eye and reinstall the spacer and the 1/2” X 5” hex
bolt. Run the winch strap over the upper nylon bushing in the
winch case and secure to the bow eye. After attaching the winch
strap hook to the bow eye check the angle of the strap in relation
to the winch and bow eye. It may be necessary to remove the 3/8”
X 5” bolt, nylon bushing and nut in the desired position and
tighten. Check the tongue weight before tightening the winch post.
Tighten all bolts on the winch post. Slip the bow eye safety chain
into the bow eye. Adjustment is complete.
NOTE: Double-check all fasteners if they properly tightened
before towing!
