Shaw Gateway HDPVR.
Self installation instructions to connect one TV.
Please Include: (Approximate hardware setup time: 10-15 minutes)
When adding Portals to create a whole-home experience, professional installation will be required. Please
contact us at 1-888-472-2222 or shaw.ca/contactus to book an appointment.
Step 1: Make sure you have everything you need.
The following items are included in your Gateway HDPVR box:

remote
Power cord Cable cord
(coa x)
Gateway HDPVR
HDMI cable
Splitter
(Optional & not included
in all packaging)
Hook up your new hardware
A. Your serial number, “Host SN,” is located on the back of the HD box (next to the number three) and starts with
the letter “M.” Alternatively, you can find the serial number on the white sticker label on the HD box packaging.
You can find your account number on your mailing label.

Step 2: Start connecting all the cords and cables.

Connect one end of the cable cord
to “Cable In” on the back of the
Gateway and the other end to an
available cable cord wall outlet.

Connect the HDMI cable to
“HDMI Out to TV” on the back of
the Gateway and then to an HDMI
port on your TV.

Connect the power cord to the back
of the Gateway and then plug it
into an available power outlet. The
Gateway will power on automatically.

Step 3: Get your new system up and running.
A. Tune your TV to the matching HDMI input port you plugged your HDMI cable into in Step 2B.
B. The Gateway will power on once you have the system plugged in. During this time, you will see lights flash on the
Gateway and on your TV screen.
C. The following message will appear on screen: “To set up this Shaw Gateway, please contact Shaw…”
Step 4: Activate your Gateway online.
A. Go to myaccount.shaw.ca
B. Login or register if you do not have an account.
C. Once signed in, under TV section, please select Self-Install TV
equipment and follow the instructions on your screen.
D. Once activation is complete, within five minutes the box
will undergo a quick reset (screen may go black or freeze
momentarily). After this, you can start enjoying your

To program your Shaw Universal Remote to work with your TV (adjust volume etc.), follow the “Quick Setup”
instructions on the reverse of the remote or visit urcsupport.com/shaw
