1.MEASURE TO ALLEVIATE PROBLEMS DURING COPY PAPER JAMS IN THE FUSING UNIT.
2.CHANGE CARRIED OUT IN THE SOFTWARE CARRIED OUT AS A MEASURE TO COMPLY WITH EPA/ECP STANDARDS.
No. : SP-2321
1. Measure to alleviate problems during copy paper jams in the fusing unit.
1.Model Name: SF-2025/2030/2040
2.General: A version upgrade has been carried out on the ROM of the machines listed above. The
addition of the trouble codes H5-01 and H5-02 has been carried out. This action has been carried out as a measure to improve the safety performance during paper jams in the fusing section.
3.Description: 1) H5-01 trouble
When a jam is detected 4 times in succession by the copy paper delivery detection sensor (POD) and the ADU paper transport sensor (DPPD1) due to the paper failing to reach the sensors (if even one paper reaches the sensor and is detected during the count, the count is automatically reset), the H5-01 trouble code is displayed and the machine stops operations. This change has been carried out in order to detect multiple page jams at the separator pawl in the fusing unit.
2) H5-02 trouble (only for model SF-2040) If a copy paper becomes wrapped around the upper heat roller in the fusing unit, the change in temperature detected from the thermostat is used to detect the wrapped paper jam on the roller. When this occurs, the H5-02 trouble code is displayed and the machines stops operations.
Trouble reset sequence:
It is possible to carry out reset operations for both of the troubles described above by inputting simulation 14 (trouble reset). It is important to note that since it is possible that there may be cases whereby the jams can be dealt with by the users themselves, provisions have been made so that by continuously depressing the copy darkness key for an interval of 3 seconds or more while the front cover is opened, the trouble reset function will be carried out. When using this function, however, it is important that the conditions of the copy paper jam and the machine itself are well understood before carrying out the procedure.

In accordance with the change that was carried out in the ROM, a change has also been carried out in the part code for the main PWB, but the old PWBs can be made interchangeable simply by carrying out a replacement of the ROM.
4.Action: From the start of 1998 May production.
2. Change carried out in the software carried out as a measure to comply with EPA/ECP standards.
1.Model Name: SF-2025/2030/2040/2120/2020/1020/1120/2216/1116
2.General: In accordance with a change in the software of the machines bound for some of the
overseas market destinations which was carried out as a measure to comply with EPA and/or ECP standards, a change has also been carried out in the ROM and PWB of machines bound for other market destinations if the machines use a ROM or PWB that is interchangeable with those in which the change described above was carried out. Please refer to the parts list for details concerning the parts which have been changed. It is important to note that the change in software that was carried out in the main ROM for models SF-2025, 2030, and 2040 is included in Item 1.
EPA = Environmental Protection Agency. ECP = Environmental Choice Program.
3.Action:*1 Japanese domestic market: From 1998 May production.
Chinese (SOCC) production: From 1998 April production. (only for machines
bound for the UK, and SEEG markets)
Chinese (SOCC) production: From 1998 May production. (only for machines other
than those bound for the UK, and SEEG markets)
