ACTION TO ALLEVIATE PROBLEMS OF WASTE TONER FULL
DETECTION ERRORS (MAINTENANCE LAMP: FLASHING).
1.Model Name: SF-2116/0016/2118/1018/2020/1020/2120/1120
2.General: A change that was carried out as a permanent measure in the shape of the waste toner
bearing 2 was reported in Technical Report No. SP-2218, but a claim from a portion of
the market was received to the effect that the information presented in the report
concerning the problems of the process and the change history was unclear. To
accommodate these claims, a detailed report of the content is hereby reported.
<Description>
The maintenance lamp was flashing even though the inside of the waste toner bottle
(P/G No. [14]-21) was not full of toner.
<Cause>
The temperature of the waste toner bottle of the SF-2116 series rises to around 60°C
during continuous copy operations. Furthermore, pressure is normally applied to the
waste toner bottle by the waste toner spring (P/G No. [14]-25). When a temperature of
around 60°C is continued for a long period of time, the dimensions of the waste toner
bottle gradually become smaller due to the pressure applied to the waste toner bottle by
the waste toner spring, and the size of the waste toner bottle can decrease by as much
as 2 mm. With the decrease in size of the waste toner bottle, the ribs of the drive gear
87T (P/G No. [14]-24) come in contact with the ribs of the waste toner bearing 2 (P/G
No. [14]-23), causing a waste toner full detection to take place.
