TROUBLESHOOTING NON-WORKING ADF DUE TO A BROKEN
PAPER FEED ACTUATOR IN USING A COMPUTER FORM
(AVOIDING DAMAGE TO THE PAPER FEED ACTUATOR)

1.General: Owing to a damage in the ADF paper feed actuator (empty sense arm), it may
fail the ADF to wor k even if document is loaded. T o prevent this, change i s
made to the structure of the actuator.

2.Cause: Because the top end of the actuator is m ade acute, t he actuator might be
broken as its top end is caught up by a perforation hol e if a document was
loaded first from the per foration hol e.

3.Description: The structure of the paper f eed actuator i s changed as shown below to
increase its strength.

Thickness is increased at the shadowed area.

4.Action: (Factory action)

Since October 1992.
