About This Guide
This guide assumes you have a basic understanding of Windows. This includes how to start your
computer, nav igate within a Windows environment, and perform basic W indows functions such as
copying, printing and mov ing docum ents. Y ou should also be fam iliar with basic Windows terms
and be able to work within Microsoft’ s I nternet Explorer.
For assistance in using W indows or I nternet Explorer, refer to your Microsoft Windows user
documentation.

To successfully use the Network Scanner Tool, your computer must meet the following
minimum requirements:
• An Intel processor-based PC, Pentium 133 MHz or g reater (Pentium MMX 200 MHz

Network Scanner T ool Setup
After installation, the Network Scanner Tool setup wizard automatically starts and scans your
network to detect Sharp multifunction copiers. The config uration utility prov ides default
destination identification and image processing com mands, which m ay be further m odified or
expanded. Once specified, these definitions are stored in your copier’s Desktop Destination
Profile web page (refer to the following table).

Profile Name A n ame that appears on the copier front panel that refers to the rest of the
settings in the destination profile. You typically select a profile by name
before scanning a document.

Process Directory The Process Directory setting specifies the n ame of the currently selected

Tool to ex ecu te th e “ C on v ert by OCR” process when a scanned image
