Always use the AC adapter included w ith
the computer or the optional one (may not
be available in some countries). Using
other AC adapters may damage the
computer.
•
Always hold the AC power cord by its plug
when removing it from the wall outlet.
Never pull on the cord.
•
When using the comp u te r for th e firs t tim e ,
be sure to connect it to AC power. If using
the battery instead, you may not be able to
complete the Windows XP setup if the
battery does not have enough power.

Be sure to check all the
following items are included:

Carefully inspect each component to make
sure nothing is missing or damaged. If any of
these items is missing or damaged, notify
your dealer immediately. Be sure to save the
shipping materials and carton in case you
need to ship or store the computer in the
future.

Attach the included cores to your LAN cable
and IEEE 1394 cable to insure compliance
with requirements of EMC regulations for
computing equipment.

Install the battery pack included
with your computer.
1. Slide the battery lock lever to the left.
2. Install the battery into the computer.
3. Push the battery pack in to the computer
until you hear the clicking sound.
4. Slide the battery lock lever to the right. The
battery pack is locked.
5. Turn over th e computer and go to the
next section.
Connect AC adapter to the computer.
1. Plug the AC adapter cable to the AC
adapter jack on the rear side of your
computer.
2. Plug the AC power cord into the AC
adapter.
3. Plu g the AC power cord int o a wall
outlet.

Open the display cover and turn
on the computer.
1. Slide the display cover lock lever to the
right unti l the display cover releases, and
raise the cover.
2. Press the power button to turn on your
computer.
Remove the optical drive
protection sheet.
Press the eject button to draw ou t the
tray; then, remove the sheet.
Setup Windows XP
After completing a self test to detect any
problems, Welcome to Microsof t Wi ndows
screen appears. For the detail, refer to
Windows XP Quick Start Guide.
1. Follow the instruc tion on the screen.
2. Select your country, language and
keyboard type; then, click Next.
3. Select your time zone; then, click Next.
4. Accept the license agreement; then, click
Next.
5. Name your computer if you will be
connecting to a LAN; then, click Next. If
you want to skip, click Skip.
6. Click Skip on An Internet connection
could not be ch os en dialog box. You will
be able to s et up your internet connection
once you ha ve completed Wind ows
setup.
7. Select No… and click Next. You can
register with Microsoft later.
8. Register a user account. You can add the
account except User1 after you finish the
Windows setup. Type a name and click
Next.
9. Click Finish. Windows XP will start.
10. Double-click the time appear i ng in th e
lower right of the screen to open Date
and Time Properties dialog box.
11. Confirm Time Zone is correctly selected,
and set date and time.
