The "MUSIC" folder is created on the unit by default. Transfer audio data to this folder for playback.
When using Windows Media Player 9 Series, select the "MUSIC" folder to transfer audio data.
Note:
You can create subfolders if necessary (refer to the Win­dows Media Player Users Guide). Create them in the lev­el indicated in "About folder tree".
When using Windows Media Player 10, subfolders with an artist or album name are automatically creat­ed in the "MUSIC" folder.

" Depending on the setting of Windows Media Player,
audio data may be converted automatically for play­back on portable devices.

" If you transfer WAV files without conversion, it may
take more time to transfer, and use more hard disk space on the unit.

Lists for artists, albums and genres are automatically cre­ated by reading information included in the audio data transferred from the PC (auto listing function). After transferring audio data, perform "Refresh List" to make efficient use of the auto listing function. " Perform "Refresh List" to keep the status of the unit up
to date after transferring audio data from a PC to the unit using Windows Media Player, or after deleting audio data on the unit.
" After "Refresh List" is performed, the latest information
appears for playback from Playlists/Artists/Albums/ Genres/Titles (see pages 23, 24, 28).
" If "Refresh List" is not performed after the operation,
transferred audio data may not appear, or deleted audio data may appear.

Troubleshooting
Many potential "problems" can be resolved by the owner wit h­out calling a service tech nician. If something seems to be wrong with this product, check the following before calling your autho r ised SHARP dea l er or service c e ntre.
The unit does not turn on.
" Is the AC adaptor disconne cted? " Is the built-in batte ry exhausted? " Is the unit in the hold mode? " Has condensation formed inside the unit? " Is the unit being influenc ed by mec hanic al sho ck or by
static electricity?
" Is the BATTERY swi tch set to OFF? " Did you long press the MENU or ENTER button?
No sound is heard from the earphones.
" Is the volume set too low? " Are the earphones correctly plugged in?
When the operation buttons are pressed, the unit does not respond.
" Is there playable audio data on the unit?

Sound skipping or loss.

! Moisture condensation
When the unit has condensation inside, the disk signals cannot be read, and the unit may not function properly.
In the following cases, condensation may form inside the unit.
" Shortly after turning on a heater . " When the unit is placed in a room where there is
excessive steam or moisture.
" When the unit is moved from a cool place to a warm
place.
To remove condensation:
Leave the unit for appr oximately 1 hour. The condensa­tion should evaporate and unit will work properly.

! Cleaning
When the unit becomes dirty
Clean it with a soft cloth. When the unit is excessively dirty, use a soft cloth dampened in water (exter nal sur­faces only).
Clean the plugs and the connecting sockets.
If the plugs or sockets are dirty, noise may be heard. Cleaning will prevent noise.
Caution:
" Do not use chemicals for cleaning (petrol, paint thin-
ner, etc.). It may damage the cabinet finish.
" Do not apply oil to the inside of the unit. It may cause
malfunctions.
