Progressive Scanning
Whilst interlaced scanning produces one frame of video in two fields, progressive scanning creates one frame in one field. Conventional interlaced scanning constitutes one second with 30 frames (60 fields), but progressive scanning constitutes it with 60 frames from scratch. Progressive scanning can reproduce sharper picture with high resolution for still image or other picture containing long texts or horizontal lines. This model has compliance with 525p (progressive) system.
Notes:
z Please refer to your TV instruction manual. z When you connect the DVD main unit to your TV, be sure to turn off the power and disconnect both units from the wall socket until all the connections have been made. z Do not connect the DVD main unit to a VCR directly. The playback picture will be distorted because DVD video discs are copy protected.

System installation
Placing the speaker system
The best surround effect will be achieved by placing each speaker at the same distance from the listening position. It is recommended to arrange the speakers as shown below.
Notes:
z Place the TV halfway between the front speakers. z It is recommended that the centre speaker be placed near the television. z Place the surround speakers at a position just above the height of your ears. z The subwoofer vibrates whilst reproducing bass. Place it on a stable, sturdy
surface.
z The bass sound from the subwoofer is non-directional, however, it is recommended
to place it as close as left and right speakers.
Magnetically shielded speakers
The front and centre speakers may be placed beside or near the TV as they are magnetically shielded. However, discolouration may occur depending on the TV type.
If colour variation occurs...
Turn off the TV (with the power switch). After 15 - 30 minutes, turn the TV on again.
If the colour variation is still present...
Move the speakers further away from the TV. Refer to the manual of the TV for details.
Note:
The surround speakers and subwoofer are not magnetically shielded.
Note:
If speakers cannot be placed at equal distances, refer to “Speaker delay time setting” (see page 46).
